Samsung has always been my SSD choice. The EVO line is the best price-to-performance value. 4TB was the sweet spot, mainly for the convenience of needing only one drive for your operating system and games. Easy install.

I bought this as a secondary storage drive for my Asus laptop and weighed this one vs the Samsung 990 pro. I'm glad I got this one, as it runs cooler and uses less laptop battery power since it doesn't have dram. I decided to skip on getting a heatsink. I have loaded over 3tb of data on to it with no issues and it has never run hotter than 45° Celsius, usually sticking around 33° for photos and a few degrees more for videos. I'm pretty comfortable with using it without the heatsink, but I'm also not hardcore using the thing. I've had it for a month now with no issues and I think it will probably last a good while after the 5 year warranty.

I needed more storage capacity in my newish Dell desktop, so when Best Buy offered the Samsung 990 EVO PLUS 4TB SSD at a great price, I jumped on the offer. The drive arrived in a few days, and I couldn't be happier. It was easy to install, and it has been working perfectly. I installed Windows 11 and then everything else, and that took a while, but so far, the drive has performed flawlessly. I highly recommend this Samsung SSD.

Works well. I haven't had it for very long yet but so far it does what it says it does. Installing it was a bit scary since I am not used to working with the internals of my computers. But installation was fairly easy all things considered.
Also, 4TB is a lot of storage. I don't think I am running out of room on my laptop for a long time after getting this.

I was able to get this thing on sale which made it an easy buy, especially since these have been hard to find in stock, so i was happy to be able to score it. I added this to my AMD gaming machine which had a nearly full 2TB drive. The install was easy of course, like other NMVe drives. Make sure you buy a heat sink, otherwise these will likely run a little too hot. Before using this new ssd i did a full read test which passed perfectly and very fast. I havent seen the 7,200+ speeds yet but upper 6s. Overall, a great drive with a great warranty, well known to last.

Works well. I'm using this as part of a Plex server, so raw performance doesn't really matter too much, but I did benchmark it and it's very fast as advertised.

Product comes as advertised and is easy to install. You'll notice the speeds of the storage most when transferring data to and from other nvme drives. Blows older style hard drives out of the water. The days of spinning hard drives is over!

I think Samsung has some of the most reliable ssd drives, I hope they fixed all recent issues with 990 pro. Using this with mac mini entry level getting about 2500mbps with a Thunderbolt 4 external drive case. Does run hot so if external get one with a fan if possible.

I’ve been using the Samsung 990 EVO PLUS 4TB for a while now, and it’s been solid. Speeds are fast for everyday use—boot times, file transfers, and game loading are noticeably quicker than with older drives. Setup was simple, and Samsung’s Magician software is helpful for monitoring the drive.
It runs cool, even under load, though there’s no heatsink, so that’s something to consider if your system gets hot. It’s a bit more expensive than some other 4TB options, but you’re paying for Samsung’s reliability and support.
Bottom line:
Great all-around SSD if you want speed and lots of space, and don’t mind spending a little extra for brand trust.

Drive has been working great and not producing high temps. Newer drive does not seem to be suffering from the 990 Pro driver issues reporting last year. So far a big step up from the 990 Evo and previously reported issues. Works great with Windows 11 BitLocker.
Notes:
----------
- Purchased for $249
- Using in a Dell XPS 9530
- Drive does not always show on the BB website when searching for 4TB NVME SSDs; had to specifically search for the drive name / model
- Install the Samsung Magician software and make sure drivers are updated; use software to monitor performance
