Overal Great monitor for the price would love to have usb 2.0

Bizarre. It has great colors, very high def, and makes my curved 27” Samsung feel archaic… but it goes half solid black and half solid white for no reason. Really messes with my gaming.

Panel stopped working after 5 months. There are thick gray streaks across the monitor now when only power is connected.

Screen looks great and was easy to set up. Brightness is fine and I like the adjustability. When connected to my PC there are no issues. When I connect my Xbox series X I will get frames where one side of the screen is white and the other is black. I’ve tried changing the settings on the monitor and console but can’t get it to resolve. Picture quality, FPS, the Built in frame sync, etc.

Too small for the pc and games i would suggest a bigger monitor

I have bought 2 of the this monitor and within a month the ports gives out on me, i say i have less than 40 hours on each monitor, save your money and get somethings, and this is coming for a samsung lover

Top Notch! Awesome gaming monitor for sure! It was up and running in minutes. First off it looks amazing, nice sleek “V” base that is very sturdy and secure. I really liked the up and down movement that the stand gives you to adjust to just the right eye level. It also moves left and right which is super conducive to running a two or three monitor gaming rig. The bezel is very thin on the top and sides. A little bigger than I thought necessary on the bottom but it does lend to the visual appeal. I also like they got away from the curved screen. I know some swear by it but I just don’t like that. Now the game play. As you would expect from Samsung the picture is outstanding! The colors are sharp and crisp and vibrant. So smooth and no ghosting. The fast refresh rate adds to the smooth play but I wonder at what point can our eyes really even tell??? It really comes down to the quality of the picture and this unit does not disappoint. Although I use this for my gaming rig exclusively I did run a movie on it and surfed a bit and it really looks awesome! Awesome gaming monitor that can do it all!

The monitor was good at first, then flashed white and red colors on the screen. I am going to return the monitor. Hopefully, I can get a new monitor but not Samsung, a different brand.

I like the overall aesthetic of this monitor. An all-black subtle gaming design with a nice Nvidia G-Sync logo in the bottom left which is not a sticker. The Samsung logo is dark grey in the middle of the monitor as expected but is smaller than usual and subdued. Really dig it. The gaming experience on this monitor is fantastic. Being an IPS-panel, the viewing angles and color accuracy are excellent with 99% of sRGB covered. At 165hz you are playing games faster than you can on any console or TV (provided your hardware can push that speed). G-Sync and AMD Freesync mean you're going to get buttery smooth framerates no matter which brand of graphics card you pair the monitor with. I enjoyed playing several rounds of Fortnite at High settings on this monitor with a 12th gen Intel i7 and RTX 3060 spec’d laptop. I even got a Victory Royale on a few of those rounds! Easily was getting right at 150-165fps. 1440p is monitors are great for gaming because I think Full HD (1080p) is a bit too soft on anything larger than a laptop screen and 4K is just too demanding on your hardware for not much improvement over 1440p. The HDR characteristics are pretty good despite this monitor not being able to get that bright. You can tell the difference when you turn on the HDR features, certain reds are more saturated, and you can easily see more details in dark areas such as those with shadows. Games that support HDR like Forza Horizons 5 and Halo Infinite look better than ever! HDR on the Windows desktop seems to work fine unlike some other Samsung monitors I have used in the past where anything SDR looks washed out with HDR enabled. The stand is more than adequate and supports tilt, swivel, pivot, and height. I really like how high the monitor can go as I can get it right to my eye level for gaming. If I want to code I can pivot the monitor to a portrait view. No complaints at all on the stand. The monitor does have VESA mount support which I’m not using as the stand is fine but want to mention as I have owned some Samsung monitors in the past that were not mountable. There are not too many inputs, just a single HDMI and DisplayPort. It would be nice if it had a built-in USB hub like some of my other Samsung monitors have but I suppose that’s reserved for some of the higher end G7 models I suppose. Had this monitor for about 2 years now and it’s still doing great, picture quality is very good depending on what settings you have setup and of course the right graphics card for the monitor and the picture quality will come out great, the monitor also has its own settings for FPS games, Cinema, MMO’s so different settings for whatever game you’ll play. The monitor also has good graphics on Xbox Series X and PS5. The downsides to it is that it has no speakers, there will be an occasional line of pixels not working and sometimes the brightness will be all the way up and icons on your desktop might be really pixelated but just turn the monitor off and on and it will be back to normal.

7 dead pixels watch out for quality control. Otherwise I really liked the monitor. Ended up going with a Gigabyte M27Q-P.

Well the picture says it all. The price seemed too good to be true and it was, got it home, set it up and turned it on. Half the screen flickered before going completely white. Returned same day and grabbed the LG Ultra Gear instead.

My current setup is a 5900x + EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 + 132 GB RAM @ 3600MHz. Gaming on this monitor is truly a beauty. I do not notice any tearing or ghosting in the games i play (Fortnite, Apex, Valorant, Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands, etc.). Viewing angles are pretty good as this is an IPS panel, and the colors are quite good as well for a gaming monitor (though not as color accurate as my Asus ProArt). The monitor itself has A LOT of settings for gaming and does not disappoint. I primarily play FPS games, so I usually have the crosshair on, and it's a pretty sweet addition! To get the most out of this panel, make sure you use a DisplayPort cable, so you can get all that buttery goodness. The stand that comes with the monitor is decently stable and allows for tilt and portrait rotation (only in the clockwise direction, unfortunately). I personally mounted my G5 on a 100x100 VESA monitor arm though as I like to have my desk space clear & tidy! If there are things I could've wished for, it would have been for: - USB Type C connectivity, so I could easily pair outside my desktop with my laptops - brighter display panel for better HDR (though this is rated as HDR10, it is only decent at best compared to my other HDR10 panels) Overall for the money, you are getting quite a feature packed gaming monitor. I would highly recommend this monitor for any gamer, especially if it is on sale!

The Samsung Odyssey G5 27” IPS gaming monitor is my first experience with a G-Sync and FreeSync Premium-capable display and I’m very satisfied and happy with it for the most part. I liked how easy and fast it was to assemble and put together. It’s almost 100% tool-free as you only need a Phillips screwdriver for one screw. Everything else can be snapped together with your bare hands. Once set up, the stand keeps the monitor nicely balanced and stable, even during tilting, swiveling, and turning the monitor into a vertical position. When it comes to build quality and materials, the fit and finish were great but its mostly plastic construction was nothing to write home about. It doesn’t look and feel cheap but it doesn’t feel premium either. Underneath the bottom center of the bezel, there is a joystick-like control button, and it was intuitive to use and responsive to my finger movements. Switching among the different menu options was fast and non-laggy. When I connected the display to my MSI gaming PC with an AMD 6700XT GPU via the DisplayPort, Windows 11 automatically set it up for 165 Hz refresh rate and correctly identified it as a 408-nit HDR-capable display. I’m still playing through God of War and the game looked gorgeous on the Samsung Odyssey G50A. The game looked great in HDR with pleasing color saturation levels and a good separation between dark and bright spots in the game world. FreeSync augmented my experience with buttery-smooth and tear-free framerates. The G50A is good for productivity and web browsing as well but my display wasn’t calibrated very well out of the box. To improve it, I followed an online guide to calibrate the display and I was happier afterward. Now for some slight negatives. For one, the blacks aren’t very black and actually dark gray. This is normal, however, for IPS displays and I’m already used to it, so it doesn’t bother me at all. The second issue, however, does bother me a bit and it has to do with the light bleed on the lower-left corner of the display. Watching dark scenes in movies and games can be a bit distracting and kind of throws you out of the immersion. With all the said, I’m quite content and happy with the Odyssey G50A as it improves my gaming experience, and its wide display makes multi-tasking very easy and convenient. I give it a solid 4.5 stars rating and I feel comfortable recommending it to friends and family.
