The Samsung SmartThings hub has worked well for me. Not only does it work well out of the box with quite a few devices, most notably of course being those branded directly by Samsung, it also has advanced capabilities that allow it to be adapted to interface with other manufacturers' devices, even those that claim to only work with their own proprietary hub. I've read that this hub does suffer from being hopelessly dependent on an always-on Internet connection. Hopefully that won't be too much of an issue for me; so far it hasn't been a problem, as my Internet connection is generally stable, or at least stable enough. I have this hub tied to a handful of humidity/temp sensors as well as about 9 water sensors (which also report temperature) to just keep tabs on the overall status of my house and ensure no water leaks take place in hidden spaces to surprise me.

I switched to Samsung SmartThings when Wink went subscription based. This smart hub has been as good if not better than Wink and has supported all of my devices. The new version of the iOS app is prettier but not quite as good as the old app, however it still works very well.

I had recently purchased C by GE bulbs, and needed a hub to connect them to my google home, because I have 12 bulbs. Google home's can only natively connect to about 6. I wanted the C by GE hub but all they had was the outlets. I knew the outlet acted as a bridge the same way as the hub does, but the service guy told me that this was the better hub (it is) and would absolutely connect to the C by GE bulbs (it can't). After realizing it will not work (bulbs are bluetooth and wifi, smarthings hub is zigbee) I thought, what else do I have that it will connect to? My thermostats already connect to Google Home, and yes, they connect to smartthings, but what would be the point? So much of what I have connects to google home, And I do not have Samsung TV's that I really don't need this thing. But I'm holding on to it, to see what may change. Good tool, uninformed Best Buy dude.

I have been working on turning my home to a smart home. I have a bunch of smart devices and this is the best device to make them all talk together. Setup was easy and adding devices as well. I have been able to connect most of the smart devices and I have no doubt this is a great choice. I highly recommend this device with no reservation.

Very pleased with the setup and configuration. Most of the SmartThings app devices sync just fine between Alexa and Google. You do end up with some duplicates if you use Smart devices like Samsung, Wemo, TP-Link, Amazon. But otherwise, the automation is nice.

Decided to go WiFi so it could be centrally located. I noticed I couldn’t always see my devices when I was away from home. After a firmware update and updated app it seems to work fine. Can connect and control door locks, HVAC, locks and Alexa functions. Will be adding on.

This is exactly what we needed. It allows us to use our zwave devices that we had with our old ADT alarm system with all of our new smart devices without having to keep ADT. Seamless intervention and so far it’s been working like a charm with Alexa for all of our home automation needs.

Bought to replace Wink hub after Wink decided to suddenly start charging a subscription. Wish I had replaced Wink sooner...SmartThings hub is much more reliable and operates a large range of devices. Took a bit of a learning curve to set up and connect bulbs to, but manageable.

I came from the wink hub which lost a lot of support by many since implementing a monthly charge for a non reliable system at best and is currently losing other vendors. I was able to use all my old Zwave switches from door monitors, leak monitor, outlets, and most recently some colored lights by Sengled which are way cheaper than Phillips and do the same thing. As for the setup, it was very easy if you decide to read some directions. The only issue I had was with an app updated last week that failed to have the system stay online. After the new update, I had no issues. I really like the system so far. Just wish it also worked my MYQ garage door opener. Hopefully in the future. Oh and I have it hardwired via Ethernet. I find that always more reliable than WiFi setup. Also purchased a zwave range extender. Not that I had issues but added some switches to a far end of the house and didn’t want to have any issues from the distance and obstacles.

Looked at a bunch of different smart hubs but felt Samsung offer the best balance of control and ease of use! The app is super easy to use and set up! This hub is compatible with z-wave and zigbee which give you access to a lot of devices! Used this with GE Z-wave switches and worked flawlessly!

I purchased this hub to work with a new zwave lock I bought for my front door. Connected fine and works well, I actually have two different controllers for my zwave network, so only use this to control my lock. User friendly for the none technical folks.

Overall a superior hub vs the Wink plus no monthly fee. Setup and automation was similar. Happy with the purchase so far, works well with all the smart switches the were previously running on the Wink hub.

Great hub! I purchased this hub a few days ago and the setup was pretty easy, the directions came up in the app after logging in, and we’re pretty straight forward. The app is easy to use but more functionality and options are available on the website for more in depth functions and services. The only downside I have noticed when setting this hub up and trying to connect it to other smart devices was that you can’t simply pull up the app for the other devices and enable the smartthings hub. Some other devices such as Alexa allow you to just select the manufacturer and login using your login credentials to connect the apps.

I switched to SmartThings after Wink decided to charge monthly. The conversion for all Zwave, Hue, and Ring was seamless and easy. The automation more customizable than Wink. The only down fall is my Wink Window Sensors are not compatible.

It is a good smart hub and I’m mostly happy with it. Pretty easy to set up with the instructions provided. That being said, I do have one major bone to pick. If there is an internet outage, any connected devices will not work, compared to say the Philips Hue hub where connected lights will continue to function as programmed even if there is a break in internet service. The devices will return to their original programming after internet service is restored. So it’s a good product but needs some improvement.

Needed a quick replacement for my Iris hub being discontinued by Lowes. Bought this SmartThings Hub, did the quick, easy install and has been running flawlessly since day one. Worked with all my existing switches and schedules. Could not ask for better results.

Had a lot of smart equipment that I’d paid for from a major security/home automation provider but got sick of paying to use equipment I’d paid for in full. So far I’ve been able to regain control of my thermostat and door locks with the SmartThings hub. It also integrates with Amazon Alexa (Echo) products. Improved functionality would be nice, but glad to at least have basic control from the convenience of my phone.

I haven't actually set this up yet but I bought it because I had bought an outdoor outlet that was Z-wave but I didn't have a Z-wave hub. From reading the information this will handle Z-wave, Zigbee and wi-fi as well as interfacing with Alexa and Google devices.
