I was in need of some additional storage for my home network and this drive was a good balance of price to size. It has worked flawlessly on Windows, Mac, Linux and used as network storage with a Netgear router. Excellent drive, my only regret is not getting a larger one!

This is a great device to store additional data on. I use it as a backup, but don't use the software provided, because it can't automatically delete old images, so I end up with a huge amount of incremental backups that fill up my drive. That is the only con I have for this, but there are plenty of free backup solutions that will resolve this issue.

This hard drive fit my needs. The only problem is that it needed to be reformatted in order to work with my IMac . I wish that I had known that prior to purchase. Tech support from Seagate was efficient and courteous .in reformatting for an iMac I lost the ability to use the Dashboard feature.Otherwise, I am pleased with the drive.

i bought this external drive to expand my internal drive of 3 Gb. i dd a little shopping around and this one was on sale at the time and the number of gigs for the price was nice. so far i only used it to transfer file and it has been sitting on the shelf until the next transfer so that is why i gave it a 4 star only.

Good deal on ALOT of space. Didn't mind the extra size compared to other slim externals. It's not too much bigger but if you NEED to have a small external then go for one of the slims. All in all, this product is perfect for anyone who wants more space than they'll ever need for a good price.

So far very impressed by the ease of use and of the large capacity of this drive. Iphone Ipad app lets you download pictures wirelessly but was able to store multiple sources of pictures and files. I think this is one of the best deals for external hard drives

We had looked for an external hard drive that was large enough to hold all that we needed yet small enough in size without paying an outrageous price , and this one is perfect . It fits all our needs !

If you are looking for an inexpensive, well performing external drive, this is a good purchase. After running benchmarks it meets its published specifications. The drive initially was formatted for use with the Windows OS' file systems out of the box, I however formatted to use this drive with my Macbook Pro. I think something the industry is starting to forget, drives fail and large drives fail causing the loss of a tremendous amount of data. In the future, I would like to see more drives allowing options of either more data and or more protection. An enclosure with 4 x 1tb drives and the option of hardware raid configurable as multiple mirrored pairs, or perhaps an option to use three of the drives in a 1tb Raid 5 array and one as a stand alone 1tb drive. Gives me options as the end user to build in some very good data protection. As it stands, with this drive, I would need to purchase three and need a minimum of three usb 3.0 ports in order to software raid five array them or two separate drives in order to perform drive mirroring. All of this aside, this drive is easy to use, does include some diagnostic testing software utilities and a backup utility, though I choose to use the Mac's built in "TimeMachine".

Purchase primarily to be an expansion space, not a "back-up" drive, it was easy to install, but doesn't allow easy file folder creation. Compact and sleek design.

Drive works great, lots of storage. Only gave 4* because I have not had it long enough to see how drive life works out. Great price for quality at Best Buy.

Seagate has delivered a easy to operate external hard drive. With more that an adequate amount of storage capacity.

This drive is plug and play on most all platforms and has plenty of room.

I'm still blown away by how inexpensive Storage Data is today ... but at $139 this 4TB of Backup Storage is a Real Treat! The Device is Sleek & Attractive and the User Interface and capabilities are as you'd expect them to be for a Seagate product - Seasoned and Thoroughly So. From the Novice to the Expert, this product is a pleasure to work with and the reputation behind the Brand is 2nd to None. You can Buy with confidence and save some $$$ in the process too...

Works great. Bought this for backup and for extra storage

After checking out several I'm glad I went with this one. Easy to use and a ton of space.

I've trusted Seagate drives for my Apple computers ever since I first found out that's what one of my computers had inside it. I tried a Western Digital before this one and had problematic prerformance keeping it as my time machine backup. This Seagate drive has been much better although sometimes my imac will not see it as the time machine backup and not do one. Usually a restart does the job of getting it back in order.

I bought this drive to store assets. As a graphic designer I have libraries of photos and artwork spread all over. This drive is giving me the opportunity to put them all in one place. A bit slow, but then, it says right in the name "Backup" so I wasn't expecting a fast drive. But it has all the room I should need for a good while. Plus, I always have trusted Seagate!

I am giving this a 4 star rating because I have not set up the storage to my desktop. However this is why I purchased the product. I needed extra computer storage for my computer because quickbooks takes up most of the space on my desktop and causes it to move very slow. I am hoping this extra storage helps with my computer speed.

Found this device to be easy to use and install. It serves my purpose for backing up my hard drive as well as giving me an extra backup of pictures that I've stored on another external hard drive. My only recommendation would be to make the USB connector cord a little longer in order to enable easier hook ups to your hard drive.
