14.5 TB Instead of 16 TB

14.5 TB instead of 16TB

Great for backup storage

Good Drive Speeds, LOUD Vibrations when using.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a large format drive. I bought the 16TB version. It seems to be fairly speedy. It has an included fan to keep the drive cool that is whisper quiet. If that were the end of the review this would be perfect. However, this drive enclosure is so NOISY!!! Sounds like an old CD drive on startup or a 3.5 inch floppy drive. the noise is unusual in today's day and age. I have two more USB external drives connected to my computer that I cannot hear running. This drive however vibrates hard upon start up and rattles my desk every minute or so. I am not sure if mine is a defective version or if it needs bigger or better rubber feet to isolate it from the desk. I am considering shucking it from the enclosure and trying the drive in my external USB enclosure to see if it is the drive or the case. This might make a good drive for a NAS server (in a closet where you don't have to hear it).

Reliable drives!

I've used Seagate external drives for many, many years and only ever once had a problem. These prove to be very reliable when it comes to storing all your personal files and backups.

Seagate Expansion Drive Review

I am using it for storage with my Zapper Box TV off-the-air DVR and it is completely compatible with this unit (I checked with Zapper Box before purchasing).
