This was a great movie films with shades of grey and black and splashes of color. An excellent premise The Shadow,. Definitely a portrayal of The Art of War and how to cunningly defeat your enemy. A nice twist at the end. Subtitled. I haven't gun through the features to see if it has a version without subtitles. But subtitled movies don't bother me. I really like the characters in this movie in the choreography of the fight sequences. It's not one of my absolute favorites but I really like this film! I still give it a five star rating based on its creativity and the characters and choreography of fight sequences and the strategy to win a war!

From the director that created the prior films "Hero" and "House of Flying Daggers" this is another wuxia action film. This film is a very slow build to the climax, with the first 60-75 minutes of the film consisting of dialogue between the players in the story. Many may dislike the film for this reason, because it doesn't follow the modern action film formula: a simple story spoon fed to the audience with some violent action sequence every 15 minutes to maintain attention. I found this to be a very interesting movie because of the slow build of the story along with the very intricate costumes used. Also the color palette of the film is limited, lots of black, white and greys.

Beautifully shot and acted, the movie seems much longer than it actually is. I cannot quibble about what scenes should have been shorter or omitted. The story about losing everything while winning has been told before. Cinematography is great. The colors are so subdued - on purpose - that it is virtually a black and white movie, save for occasional flashes of red. I do not understand the language but the acting seemed appropriate, not like a silent movie, and the English translations of the actors' words and the subtitles/ closed-captioning do not match, as usual. I liked it, my wife fell asleep.

Purchased this as a blind buy based on reviews. It's a great action movie with awesome cinematography, a complexed love story intertwined with war, betrayal, and revenge. Theres a lot to take in in the first 20 minutes, so pay attention. Once the action begins, the scenes are thrilling. It's a beautiful movie to watch in 4k, its like seeing a black and white painting come to life. The same director made Hero and Crouching Tiger hidden dragon, I believe this movie was the directors best. As a bonus, the 4k disc is the only one that gets English audio.

The slipcover for this title is beautiful. However, The plastic packaging is on the cheaper end. The artwork is just a tad bigger than the plastic protector. Not a big deal thanks to the awesome slipcover. Like all of it’s releases - Well Go USA does not participate in the MoviesAnywhere or Vudu which is a shame. The movie itself is incredible, the soundtrack and video are top notch. Just don’t go into this film expecting a 90 minute action scene. This film provides a good story with amazing but limited action sequences.

The movie starts off a little slow and can be a tad confusing. It does pick up and the story is very well told with fantastic visuals and great acting. Action scenes are very well executed and the plot twists leaves you wondering. Good movie if you're in the mood for love and drama.

This movie is great, has amazing lines, fast action, really sets a nice pace. The sound is great, can't say enough good things about the sound, it has what you expect for the money you spend on a disk of this magnitude, the money they spent was well placed. You get high quality content. The CGI is so realistic you forget its CGI and just fall into the story and lose yourself in the emotion and staging of the drama and action.

I bought this the day of it's release and haven't watched it since but the images still stick with me. The fighting and story are very good. Incredible visuals. Fighting with umbrella style weapons in the rain. Really worthwhile.

Special features English language and subtitles. Approximately two hours.

Shadow is more of a visual display of skill with an intriguing plot more than an action film. Pay attention to the details and youll find this film to be even more awesome.

This was a blind buy for me. I wasn't sure what to expect. I had heard good things but didn't look into them. The use of black and white mixed with flesh tones gives the film a unique and haunting look. The presentation is superb and I would run this a demo disc to show off my 4K setup.

This was a great movie lots of action pack scenes the audio was brilliant the back lighting of this 4K produce film was amazing I encourage all Martian arts fans to watch this film the producers from house of flying daggers did a wonderful job on this film!! I give it a thumbs up.

This is such a great movie, but it seems like no one knows about it! It belongs in your King Fu collection, don't even doubt.

I would actually give it 4.5 stars but there isn't a half star option. The cinematography was definitely worth watching.

Slow beginning but improves. Visuals are stunning. Colors are very beautiful.

Aesthetically the film is a sight to behold the story lags on a bit though.
