This vacuum made me excited to be an adult. I had been looking for a good option for a while but couldn't decide between a wand or an upright. Then my dog got fleas so I had to make a decision. I went to Best Buy and looked at all they had. This one felt great and has detachable hose to really clean any part of the house. I live in a basement apartment so I have a narrow hallway with stairs and the detach capabilities make it a breeze to clean. The hose feature and attachments made this really great for cleaning my couches and chairs which I really needed to clear all signs of fleas. It has great lights to see under furniture and tight corners that also make this look rad. That matched with the color made me decide I had to have it. Great design, modern look and functionality make this vacuum top notch.

    Best Vacuum I’ve Ever Used

I’ve been using a Shark Rocket for a couple years now and have been very happy with it, but since owning it I’ve moved from an apartment to my own house and I have been looking for something that’s a little more versatile. I’ve been between the Dyson Ball and Shark’s DuoClean NV800 for about a year now. I almost went with a refurbished Dyson before I received this and I’m so glad this is my new vacuum. I get all benefits of an upright without losing what made my Rocket so easy to use thanks to the lift-away canister. The Apex AX951 is from I can tell a larger, more powerful version of the NV800. It has the same DuoClean technology built-in, which uses both a standard bristle and a soft brush roll. The benefit of this can be seen clearly on hardwood floors; the soft brush makes contact directly with the floor along its entire surface and can suck up just about anything in without spreading it all over the place like a lot of other vacuums do. In addition to the vacuum you also get the following attachments: Pet/Upholstery Tool Under Appliance Wand Crevice Tool w/ Brush (brush can be retracted) Dusting Brush Unboxing and assembly was pretty straight forward. The Quick Start guide instructions were clear and easy to follow. The power and brush controls are both located on the handle where you grip it and are pretty easy to reach. The release buttons for the wand and the cannister are intuitive and easy to spot as well. Everything about the vacuum feels very sturdy and each of the parts connect with a reassuring click. I read through the guide, but everything is about where you’d expect it to be. Once I had everything assembled I started in the top floor of my home, which is all carpet except for the bathrooms. There are 3 brush roll settings to choose from - hardwood, carpet, and thick carpet. I used the middle carpet setting as my carpet is not particularly thick (the manual also states this mode should be used for to meet its ‘deep cleaning’ specification). The suction from this thing is incredible; it felt like it was glued to the floor and was literally pulling me forward. It was definitely quite the difference from my Rocket. Manoeuvring was very easy for this being a much larger vacuum than I am used to. The AX951 did feel heavy to me, but again I am coming from the much smaller and lighter Rocket, so this was to be expected. Using the vacuum in its standard upright mode does prevent you from getting under a lot of low spaces. Fortunately, the canister can be removed and held in one hand while you vacuum with the other. This gives it the profile of a stick vacuum like the Rocket and I was able to reach all of the places that my Rocket could - it’s one of my favorite things about it. There are LEDs built into the front of the brushroll and the wand, which makes it easy to see what you are doing, especially when going under a couch or low table. The canister is quite a bit larger than what I normally use, but I still found myself emptying it twice while vacuuming my top floor. Moving to my bottom floor, which is all hardwood, I was just as impressed. In hardwood mode the soft brush left my floors very shiny and clean and picked up a lot of stuck-on things I would normally have to get with a mop. I made use of a few of the attachments and they all worked well. The under appliance wand easily go underneath my stove and refrigerator and picked up stuff that had to have been there for quite a while. I used the pet/upholstery tool on my couches and it also worked very well and still had a ton of suction. If you’re considering something like a Dyson I would give this vacuum a hard look. I think you get a something that offers a lot more flexibility and value for the money.

The utility of this vacuum is wonderful. It moves and cleans well. How it separates and can go under low furniture is very useful. However, when the brush head broke after a year and a half of use, we found out how meaningless the 7-Year warranty is. "That part is not warrantied, we'll be happy to sell you one for $90." Thanks Shark. We weren't using it commercially - just your typical household cleaning each week. Very disappointed in Shark.

    Another vacuum? Why Yes!

Vacuum cleaners are like audio equipment; their capabilities are always touted as the best by their manufacturers, and the end user is very opinionated on their performance. We have had lots of vacuums during our lifetime, from the cheapest brands, to the "big name" with lots of commercials brand, to the top of the line big box store brand. We have bought them based on how much money we had to what had the best consumer rating. So, based on all this, the Shark Apex DuoClean had a large bill to fill! It arrived in a rather large box, but small enough to know some assembly was ahead. We opened the box and found everything packed well and tight. We got everything out and proceeded to the quick guide and owner's manual that both seemed well written. Some assembly was necessary, but it was literally snap together! Definitely a plus! After getting acquainted with all the different parts and capabilities it was time to clean up. The vacuum has several different modes, one for hard floors, one for low pile carpet and one for shag. We used it mostly on hardwood and low pile modes. On Harwood, both brushes (there is one regular vacuum type brush and one soft roller in front of that) engage but in a lower speed. On low pile carpet modes, the turn significantly faster and it is almost self-propelled. On high pile, they both operate at a high speed. Great for cleaning, and easy going forward but it is a workout pulling it back. The vacuum is not overly heavy, but the pull of those rollers is strong. The combination of rollers definitely picks up pretty much everything, especially dog hair. The soft roller ensures nothing gets away. The main unit separates from the stem and floor head to make itself a handheld unit you can carry around and use to clean higher areas, stairs, etc. It worked well in our use and cleaned our ceiling fans well with the included attachments. There are several attachments that help with dusting, pet hair on furniture and a nifty under furniture attachment. Back to the regular vacuum, it pivots to make it easy to turn. The dust bucket remover easily and opens both on top and bottom to facilitate cleaning. All the hoses, buckets, attachments and handles come apart as they should and re-assemble easily. Overall, this is an outstanding vacuum worthy of your attention and try-out. As again, vacuums are subjective, you will have to make your own decision. It cleaned very well and got a lot of dirt that my other vacuum seemed to miss. Almost forgot, it is very quiet compared to many full sized vacuums which is a great plus. It is highly recommended. Good Shopping!

    Shark Apex AX951 DuoClean

The shark Apex AX951 is highly versatile in its cleaning methods. We found it picks up all kinds of debris from the carpets and floors. We have a crawling baby in the house and it is very essential to have the carpets and floors clean since the baby tends to pick up everything from the floor and put it in the mouth. The vacuum cleaner is very powerful and picks up mushy stuff stuck to the carpet to much extent. The side extension has a very long reach an can easily reach upto 8 feet to clean ceiling fans and windows. The movement is very sooth and it takes very less effort to move it around the house. The ability to detach the base and still extend the cleaner under tables and chairs is an advantage. The attachments allows it to sweep under small crevices and low clearance couches and kitchen equipment. The suction level stays at a very high level and makes it easy to clean hard to reach places without moving the furniture around. A very high quality and excellent home cleaning solution.

The suction is the first thing I noticed then the useful accessories. This is the most powerful full size vacuum I have used and is a pleasure to be able to suck up items on a hard wood floor without the items scattering all over. The accessories were easy to use and very beneficial. The seven year shark warranty is also nice. Assembly took all of 5 minutes clicking together several sections and away we go. I am giving this Shark five stars for overall quality and performance. I've used Dyson for many years and I am thrilled to say the Shark is a superior vacuum. It's sturdy, well made, suction is way better, and has more power with way less headaches. I truly think the parts fit together better and feel firm in your hand. It also has three settings for hardwood/linoleum, low pile, and high pile. The low and high pile have a self propelled motor which help do the work for you by pulling the unit forward which is Great given the full size and weight of the unit. The generously sized containers holds a lot of dirt to allow me to clean in one shot without emptying often. The cord is very long allowing me to vacuum large ares without changing outlets which is always a pain. This is a full size vacuum and so is a heavy, large vacuum and not lightweight unit but it has power and the self propelled part really helps balance out the negativity of that.

    Enjoying my new vacuum

I purchased this vacuum to replace my Dyson that was about 10 years old. I considered a newer Dyson, but I wasn't crazy about the big ball style and the lower priced versions were about the same as I already had. I wanted something different. I read a lot of reviews prior to my purchase and waited for it to go on sale ($50 off). PROS: I like the soft brush roll on this vacuum, as I have a lot of tile and hardwood floors. A regular vacuum won't get the dust off of the floor. This vacuum, vacuums and dusts my tile and hardwood. I think that the attachments are easier to use than my old Dyson. I like that it has a light on the front of the vacuum and on the hand attachment. I have also taken the canister off to vacuum under the bed. The suction is great. It really picks up a lot. CONS: As a lot of other reviews mentioned, it pulls forward. You have to be careful or it might take off without you. However, it pulls back hard. Therefore, I agree with some of the other reviews that it can be a workout to operate. I don't mind, but it might be something to consider if you aren't physically fit. Whenever I take the canister off to vacuum under the bed, etc., the canister doesn't really stand on its own. You need to be careful that it doesn't fall over. I think that some of them come with a canister caddy, but this one did not. OVERALL: I really like this vacuum. The pros outweigh the cons for me and I was ready to try something different than my old Dyson.

I have had the Shark vacuum cleaner for a few days and was very excited to try it. The TV commercial certainly made the vacuum look very good and our current vacuum had not been performing well. I was very pleased with the Shark right off the bat. Its small head made getting in places very easy. I was not able to get in some of these places with our previous other vacuum, which was not a Shark. My wife loves the different settings for carpet and hardwood. It picks up on the hardwood and does not spray any pieces anywhere. The Shark moves very well and rotates and swivels with ease; almost like it’s pulling itself. It is built very well and is easy to remove and install all the accessories. It comes apart for cleaning stairs and other areas so you do not have to pick up the entire vacuum everywhere. The cord length is good and I love the lights on the front. The only downside I can find with the Shark is the handle seems a bit heavy when vacuuming. All in all I am VERY pleased with the Shark and would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Great on Thick Carpet and Hard Floors!

This is by far the best vacuum we’ve purchased to date. I’ve gone through several other brands that just end up being too clunky or mediocre in its cleaning. This vacuum cleans my hardwood floors - including small particles and dust - beautifully! I then tried it on my area rugs and it performed awesome. It has three settings - hardwood, short carpet, and thick carpet. I was hesitant that it would go through my thick, plush carpet with the added roller on the front. I even made sure I was able to return the vacuum if it didn’t. The associates at Best Buy were very helpful. Not only did it clean well, the self propelled brushes helped to get it through the carpet. This setting is awesome to have on a vacuum like this. (backstory - I bought a Dyson Animal 2 that I had to return due to the suction being too strong - Really? I bought an expensive vacuum that I couldn’t NOT use on my carpet.) This Shark has the perfect suction to get EVERYTHING up on my floors, including all the hair from my 2 dogs and the crumbs from my 2 kids. The detachable canister is amazing. I was able to get under all my tables and attach it right back on without stopping the vacuum. The attachments are very easy to use. The suction tool come in and out easily and gives you the ability to get the corners and carpet edges against the walls. This is where the dog hair typically ends up. I wish I can give it 4.5 stars because I would have liked a self propelled roller to get my carpet on the stairs. I think this is an optional item to buy on the website. I’m sure there is a good way to get the stairs that isn’t awkward. I just got this vacuum so I’m still figuring out some of best ways to use the detachable canister to do the stairs. Buy this vacuum if you have hardwood and plush carpets. This is by far the bet vacuum I’ve come across to do the job!

We seem to have to replace our vacuum cleaner every year, because we don’t spend the money on a better one. Well, we decided to spend more, and we are very happy with this vacuum. We have 3 cats, a dog and are a family of 5, 2 girls with long hair. This vacuum has had no problems at all picking up everything from carpets, to tile to furniture... Really amazing vacuum, not too loud either. We are very happy with our purchase, give a sharp vacuum a try!

I have spent years buying cheap vacuums. I finally took the plunge and spent more than a few bucks. And, it was worth it! I used to spend lots of time vacuuming and re-vacuuming rooms with my cheap models. My new Shark cleans all my floors, especially my hardwood and tile floors, in a single pass. And, it gets my three flights of stairs in 1/4 of the time! Seriously, this vacuum is worth the money.

This vacuum sucks, but I’m this case it’s a good thing. It’s the best Shark I’ve owned. Great for pet hair. It’s a little heavy to push because of the suction, but in My opinion it’s worth it. I’ve owned many Sharks and this is my favorite.

I had a Dyson and a Dyson Animal with the ball but my Dyson finally died. I switched to Shark based upon reviews but cord finally gave way. I purchased this based upon reviews and commercials. I love it. The suction power is like no other. It actually lifts the carpet up off of the ground. It cleans better than the previous Shark. You no longer have to change settings from going to carpet to hardwood which is wonderful You get so many attachments with it. I didn't have to buy anymore. I would highly recommend this. I have 2 little boys, a Border Collie and 2 cats. This can keep up with them which makes mom's life so better.

It was finally time for me to buy a top-tier vacuum cleaner for personal use, as I was stuck using low-end second-hand products for a long time. This Shark vacuum was pricey but well worth the money. Asseembly was quite easy and it is a compact machine. The vacuum is lightweight, starts up nicely, is very quiet and even has forward-mounted lights. The dual roller method is very powerful in cleaning various carpets as well as floor. It hasn't missed any floor particles yet. The canister also holds quite a bit and is easy to clean. The vacuum also has a sharp turning radius, very nice to have.

Quiet, just as powerful as my old Dyson animal ball and love the detachable wand and canister so you can attach the wand to the roller to get underneath hard to get to places. Also love the crevice tool. LED lighting is a nice touch. Also, easy to handle as it's not heavy.

This vacuum works really well. When we first used it we couldn't believe the amount of pet hair it picked up on our carpet that had just been vacuumed the day before. It is very powerful and has a lot of useful attachments. Plus you can pull out the wand for reaching smaller area very easily. Only two downsides- the cord does not automatically retract and it can be difficult to control, tends to just pull off in its own direction.

We owned a Shark Lift-Away and loved it. We thought it was the best vacuum we had ever owned... And it still is a very good vacuum. But Shark has once again reinvented how and what a vacuum cleaner is capable of cleaning with the Apex Duo-Clean Powered Lift Away. 1) It’s the best cleaning upright vacuum I’ve ever used... maneuvers easily and will suck the color out of your carpet. The combination of the soft head with the brush head of the Duo-Clean system makes sure EVERY SPECK gets picked up and sucked into the canister regardless if it’s hardwood, carpet or tile. 2) Pull the canister off and you will have the most versatile canister vac you’ve ever used. The vacuum can now lay nearly flat to go ALL THE WAY under the couch, living room chairs or beds. The LED light let’s you easily see what you often can’t see under furniture. 3) Release the wand from the powered head ... and you have the most versatile and complete portable canister you’ve ever used. The pet brush head will refresh and clean the upholstery in your home ... or your car. The under appliance attachment is so easy and effective to use that you may find yourself using it weekly. The dust bar with extension allows you to clean the tops of drapes, door frames, and ceiling fans ... and again - with such efficiency and ease. And to get this model on sale for $220 ... it’s worth EVERY penny. The only item not included with this model was the powered pet upholstery attachment... but from the money saved buying it on sale ... I believe we can afford to buy one!

I've been a loyal Shark™ customer for years now, but after adopting two cats, I had to step my game up. THIS was the answer to all my dreams. Seamless transition from carpet to hardwood with one flick of a button. VERY powerful (do NOT run over the power cord, it WILL try to eat it!), very easy to use, and intuitive beyond measure. The under-appliance wand is CLUTCH! Top Notch! A1! Would buy again!

This vacuum is great! It has great suction and with the roller on the front of the vacuum you can go right up against the wall, or piece of furniture and it picks up the dirt without leaving an inch, or two that I would have to get with the hose like with other vacuums. It is also lighter, but it is self propelled, at least a little in that with the two front rollers it will take off, which makes it a bit harder to pull back. The only downside is the canister is a bit small, so it has to be emptied once during vacuuming and then again at the end. Someone with a smaller area to vacuum may not have that issue.
