The Shark Ninja Powerdetect quickly became an indispensable part of our housecleaning routine. The vacuum arrives mostly assembled with only a few easy pieces to snap together. It requires a full charge before first use but it doesn’t take too long to fully charge. From a cleaning perspective, the Ninja makes quick work of even difficult messes. We have hard floors and we also have a chinchilla. Anyone who owns a chinchilla knows they can be two things: strong willed and messy. Ours throws everything within his reach to the outside of his cage, especially when he wants to get our attention. While this keeps the inside of his cage looking a tiny bit neater, the floor around the cage is a perpetually littered mess. We initially tried to use an automatic vacuuming bot on a schedule to keep after him, but it took too long and made way too much noise. Loud noises frighten him, so we use a broom and dust pan as our primary cleaning option and this vacuum for big messes after taking him out to run around away from the noise. This vacuum is our first choice for large messes and used everywhere else around the house outside of his immediate area. It’s quicker than using the broom and quieter than the vacuum bot. One thing I really like is how well it cleans up his bath dust. It gets every particle when cleaning up the chinchilla dust, hay, droppings and other messes he creates. The vacuum performs equally well on other messes around the house and on our rugs and upstairs carpet as well. We primarily use it on hard floors because we have a more traditional vacuum for the carpet. But it cleans carpets and rugs well if we’re in a rush. It isn’t heavy and is easy to handle and maneuver. Button placement is excellent, with buttons easily within reach without needing to invert or rotate the vacuum. The pet multi-tool attaches easily and helps with dog hair on the living room furniture when my daughter visits with her doodle. This vacuum has quickly become our go to for all our pet needs. The crevice tool is another helpful tool for cleaning between the sofa cushions and the seats of our vehicles. Overall, the Shark Powerdetect has been a wonderful vacuum. It has good battery life and is handy to store when not in use. The suction power is fantastic for both hard and carpeted floors alike. It works well on the main floor and snags the dust and dirt against the quarter rounds and walls. The multidirectional brushes perform quite well on dust and other fine particles. It’s easy to use with immediately intuitive controls. The attachments provide extra cleaning versatility, noise levels are tolerable, and handy convenience features like the bright headlights and length adjustable shaft provide near effortless cleaning wherever needed. I just hope it lasts because nothing will test the durability of a vacuum like small pet messes. I’ve already had hay and hair from prior pets break a couple sturdy traditional vacuums and one similar high-end stick vac. We will see.

Best Performing Stick Vacuum I’ve Ever Had!

Stick Cordless Vacuums have been a fantastic upgrade to the home vacuum industry as they are light, easy to use, and very portable around your home. However, sometimes they can feel underpowered or not as useful as you might like. The new Shark PowerDetect Vacuum has really shut down those worries for me and has been the best performing stick vacuum I’ve ever had! PROS: - Unboxing this I was immediately impressed with how sturdy and tough this felt. It’s by no means too heavy or bulky, but it feels better built and is a bigger vacuum than other stick vacuums I have had, but that makes sense given its battery life and power. I think it has a really nice design and was really easy to set up, just charge it once first! - The LED screen on the vacuum is subtly one of its better features. It shows you a rating of how dirty the area is you are vacuuming, shows the battery life, and shows what “mode” you are on when vacuuming. All Very helpful and it looks super modern too! - Running the vacuum, this thing has power!! I had already vacuumed my floor once this day, but on my first use the Shark immediately picked up more dirt and dog hair than I thought was there. I was really overly impressed! I think the combo of the power as well as the dual rotating brush rolls really helps knock up more hair, dirt, crumbs, etc than any other stick vacuum I have used. - The “PowerDetect” mode is my favorite feature it has for sure. Basically there are three modes with Eco, a Max Power, and a PowerDetect which essentially it can tell what kind of floor you are on as well as how dirty the floor is so it adapts to how strong the suction is. I really love this because it makes switching from rugs, to carpet, to tile, to hardwood floors a breeze and makes sure it will give you peak performance when needed and something with a lighter touch when needed while still getting the job done. - The attachments are great too with the different nozzles but the star is of course the bending main stick which helps when going under tables or beds with ease. - And of course, the battery does last a long time! I am able to vacuum with this several times before needed to charge but every time I use it its still very powerful. CONS: - It does not come with a wall mount as it’s meant to be folded in half and stored away. However, I do miss the optionality of wall mounting a stick vacuum as it makes it much more easier for charging. This one you have to charge traditionally which isn’t awful but its just not as convenient. BOTTOM LINE: - People want Cordless Stick Vacuums because they are much easier to use but they also do not want to sacrifice power. The new Shark PowerDetect is really your best answer to this! It’s strong and powerful, is loaded with high end features like detecting how dirty a floor is or detecting how strong the suction needs to be, and it comes in an easy to use package with a long battery life. This vacuum works wonders on dog hair, dirt, and generally dirtiness from having kids too! I think its been a great upgrade for our home.

    Outstanding cordless vacuum!

This vacuum cleaner, the Shark PowerDetect cordless stick vacuum, is outstanding. My previous experience with a cordless vacuum found me underwhelmed, but this device convinced me. It won’t fully supplant my corded vacuum–also a Shark–but it really complements it nicely, and I could probably do everything I need with just this. I was very impressed with the battery life and the exceptional suction power. The vacuum is really easy to set up. The handle acts as a small handheld vacuum and it’s the base you attach everything else to. It contains the battery and the controls. While the battery is partially charged out of the box, it’s strongly recommended to charge the battery to full, which it said would take six hours. I don’t think it quite took that long, but it’s easy to check the status–when the light goes solid, it’s fully charged. In addition to the floor roller, there is also a pet multi-tool and a crevice duster that gives plenty of reach as included accessories. When you turn the vacuum on, the display on the back (which is facing you during typical use) shows the battery level and the vacuum’s mode. The modes can be toggled via a trigger button in the handle, so it’s very easy to change on the fly. There’s an eco mode, an auto detect mode, and a maximum suction mode. The auto detect mode worked so well I suspect most people will default to it 99% of the time. Using it on the floor, I went between thick carpet to hardwood flooring to a thin rug. The auto detect changes very quickly between the levels. Mobility is excellent with the roller unit moving freely and the wand’s Multiflex ability to bend. I also liked the edge detection on the floor unit as well. Suction is really pretty strong on carpet–it’ll definitely pull you along! I was surprised by how much the vacuum pulled up. The dust collection bin can be easily emptied, and that’s where you’ll find the filter which will need to be cleaned periodically as well. Shark says the battery can run up to 70 minutes. I definitely don’t have 70 minutes of continuous vacuuming in me, so I can’t say that I’ve tested that limit. But it was more than sufficient for me to vacuum around 800sq ft. without breaking a sweat–the battery indicator only went down a little. I plug back in when done so it’s always full for use. Overall, I found myself delighted with the performance of this vacuum. The features and power are fantastic, and I finally experienced the convenience of a cordless vacuum that gave me the suction of my corded vacuum. Highly recommended!

Over the years we have owned two other brands of cordless vacuums. I do like the reverse cleaning feature and self-cleaning brush roll. We have wood flooring, carpet, rugs and tile in our home along with epoxy floor coating in the basement. The POWERDETECT has three modes: ECO (maximizes runtime), DETECT (senses dirt, edges and floor type) and BOOST (maximizes suction). You do not have to hold a trigger while vacuuming, which is a big plus. The vacuum weighs about 8lbs. and is top heavy. It also has a HEPA filter. DETECT mode does sense different floor types well. It vacuums harder on rugs and carpets than other types of flooring and did lift a lot of dirt. I wasn’t impressed with the edge detect as it left too many pieces along edges and corners even after several vacuum passes and also left debris along rug edges. This was tested during Christmas prep and a lot of items were spilled on the floor: flour, sugar, cereal, rice, etc… Wood floors were the worst, as DETECT mode had less suction and missed items. BOOST mode was an improvement on the wood flooring. ECO mode wasn’t used as it wasn’t very effective and the battery life on this vacuum is excellent. BOOST mode did help on the wood floors and was great at digging out dirt from the rugs after the grandkids made their messes. Emptying the dust bin is easy but you need to be right over your garbage can or the dust will end up on the floor. The Pet Multi-Tool was very handy to vacuum upholstery and removed hair, pet hair and the finest lint. This was impressive. The Duster Crevice Tool was okay, I found myself using it on corners and edges the vacuum had missed. I always wish vacuums had a finer crevice tool that was even more narrow and extended farther out. Bending the wand to clean under furniture isn’t useful in our household. We only bent the wand to fold over for storage. Battery life is excellent at 55-65 minutes on DETECT mode. Using BOOST mode a fair amount of the time lowered runtime to about 40-50 minutes. Much better than the 20-25 minutes on our other cordless vacuums. Charging is easy with the included cord. The vacuum doesn’t stand up on its own so you have to fold it over by bending the wand and then plug in the cord. I really wish it didn’t have to fold over and could just stand upright securely. The design is more like an upright vacuum than a stick so this should be fairly easy. It is a nice vacuum; I found myself using BOOST mode more often than DETECT mode.

_____ *Pros: -Powerful motor with excellent suction and pickup. -Great for both carpets and hard floors. -Especially great for dog and cat hairs. -Good at edge roller pickup and cleaning. -Folds compact for stable and easy storage. -Comes with useful extensions. -Great battery life. _____ *Neutral: -On max mode, it’s quite noisy. _____ *Cons: -None The Shark PowerDetect cordless vacuum was a very pleasant surprise and a revelation to me. At about half the price of our older brand-name cordless stick vacuum whose name starts with a D, the PowerDetect punched above its weight and delivered excellent suction and pickup performance across various surfaces. Starting with the build materials and build quality, the unit felt solid and durable. All the pieces smoothly popped off and clicked and snapped into each other, and the vacuum felt solid and substantial. That is not to say that it’s heavy. No, it’s relatively light, and that made it easy and comfortable to maneuver it around the house, underneath tables, between chair legs, around the base of our dining table, etc. This PowerDetect vacuum has a trick feature, and it is its ability to pivot or fold so that the roller can reach even deeper underneath tables and other tight spots (Shark calls it MultiFLEX). I didn’t have to use this feature too often, but it was nice to have nevertheless. The raison d'être of a vacuum is to pick up debris efficiently and as completely as possible, and this Shark unit impressed me with its power. Even at its lower Eco setting, it did a great job picking up all the common debris you would expect to find in a household with two dogs and one cat. When set to its max or turbo mode, the motor and the sticky roller just sucks everything up in a very satisfactory manner. Although I did not have to resort to using the max mode very often for the rooms in our house, I did use it more frequently when using the crevice tool in our cars and the pet multi-tool on our dog’s beds. Without the sticky roller to help out, the extensions required additional help by upping the motor power. When the vacuum is run in Eco mode, the sound level is relatively quiet and nice. But at its highest setting, it feels a bit irritating due to some high-pitch sound waves mixed in. It’s not terrible but I wish Shark performed better sound dampening in that department. The battery took a long time to charge up out of the box but in exchange, I got a pretty long and nice runtime. Another nice feature of this vacuum is how simple and easy it is to store it away. Thanks to that MultiFLEX pivot/bending feature, the vacuum can be folded in half and stood up securely on any flat surface, which I really appreciated. All in all, I was very impressed with this cordless stick vacuum from Shark. I’m very happy with its performance, easy maneuverable design, long battery stamina, and that MultiFLEX joint feature that makes storage easy as well as hitting those areas underneath tables and stuff. **** Is it worth the coin? **** I definitely think so, and I would easily recommend this to family and friends. You don’t have to spend twice the coin getting a vacuum from the company whose name starts with a D to get excellent performance. The Shark PowerDetect has been just as good, if not better, for our home. 5 Stars.

Produces similar results as more expensive models

This is my second cordless vacuum. My first one is one of those high-end more expensive models from the competitor. So, naturally I was comparing this new Shark vacuum and its features to my higher-end one. In short, the Shark vacuum was surprisingly good at producing similar results as the more expensive one. The Shark’s motor is powerful, and it needs to be because the vacuum head has two rollers. Having two rollers results in a larger area in contact with the floor which can reduce suction. However, both rollers do a very good job picking up dirt and debris. In comparison to my other vacuum, the Shark was able to extract the same amount of dirt and debris, however, it took a couple more passes than the other vacuum. But considering the price difference between the two vacuums, with the Shark being more competitively priced, a couple more passes aren’t that big of a deal. The results in terms of cleanliness are close to the same. One area where the Shark vacuum excels is on regular flooring. The two roller vacuum head design allows it to easily pick up larger objects compared to my other vacuum. For example, full-size pet food kibble is easily picked up by the Shark vacuum. The higher-end vacuum does have a specially designed vacuum head for picking up larger debris, but you’ll need to change heads while vacuuming. I personally prefer not having to switch attachments when possible. In fact, I may not need to bust out the broom for sweeping anymore. This vacuum essentially will replace my broom when cleaning regular flooring. In terms of maneuverability while vacuuming on carpet, I do want to point out that my higher-end model from the competitor has the edge over the Shark. The wheels/rollers are slightly smaller on the Shark, resulting in slightly more effort needed to move the vacuum head around on carpet. Plus, when using the Shark on my high pile carpet, it took more effort to push and pull while vacuuming. Mainly, pushing required slightly more effort, pulling it back towards me was easier. Regardless, I will probably get used to the Shark vacuum maneuverability over time. A few more things to note. I really like the LED lights on the Shark vacuum. It is very helpful to have the floor and carpet illuminated. I can see additional debris that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. The Edge detection feature works well too. It does a very good and accurate job increasing suction power when you’re vacuuming along a wall or edge. And finally, I think it is easier to release the dustbin and empty out the dirt and debris on the Shark model. It has a single button you move that allows the bin to neatly open to drop the debris into the trash. Overall, this vacuum cleaner is a real alternative to the higher-end and more expensive cordless vacuums out there. It may not match them in overall suction and strength, but the difference is hardly noticeable with this Shark model.

Heavy Duty and Powerful Cordless Stick Vacuum

This Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum is fantastic, I have some other vacuums from competitors as well as Shark in the house and this dusts them all in terms of cleaning power and sturdiness. Here's what's great about this unit: 1. The suction power is incredible and its not any louder than other vacuums I have in the house. Honestly I think it is more powerful than my full upright corded Ball Vacuum based on what I was able to collect in the canister in just a few minutes of vacuuming my Ruggable. 2. The DuoClean Detect nozzle/brush head is the best I've used on any cordless vacuum by far in terms of assisted propulsion, cleaning power, and self-cleaning functionality. What I noticed right away, is that this brush head seems to help pull the vacuum forward and eases up on the self-propel feel when pulling backward. That really helps with fatigue on carpets and long cleaning sessions. The head also seemed to pick up dirt and debris better in all directions without blowing bits around or on the backstrokes. 3. Build quality is next level. The nozzle neck is huge and thick and the plastic parts that lock the neck into the vacuum hand unit are extremely sturdy, rigid and tight fitting. This really makes a difference when pushing the vacuum around as I have other vacuums that wobble and make it a lot harder to maneuver and move forward and back. Its hard to describe until you use it, when you push with the propulsion and sturdy neck/build, it goes forward, you pull backwards, it pulls backwards, you push to the side, everything moves and you don't feel the neck buckling as your wrist moves forward. 4. Cleaning the bin is super easy and does not make a mess. You just pull the locking tabs forward and the canister door drops down and opens like a trap door, letting the debris fall into your trash can. No removing the canister, putting it back in with dirt and dust bits in the gaskets, you just empty and push it back up, simple and easy! 5. Runtime is really good on this, I cleaned my carpet for about 10 minutes and it didn't lose a bar, so the advertised 70 minutes is probably close to accurate. Some of my older hand vacs would be at less than half after running the rug cleaner head for 10 minutes. Theres some things I don't love or wish this unit had are as follows 1. The auto-empty base is probably worth it if you're like me for a couple reasons, it auto-empties the bin and only needs to be emptied every so often. I have an older Shark that does this and it works great. 2. The auto-empty base also functions as a charger, so you just put it on the base and it charges AND empties it, which is awesome. Charging this unit isn't great, there's a little pin-type AC adapter that plugs in awkwardly on the side of the battery. The battery can be removed and still charged however, which is nice. 3. There's no hanging hardware that also serves as a charging base and holds extra nozzles. I really like this on my other vacuums, I really wish Shark started adding this to their cordless hand vacs. 4. Canister size could be better. Honestly this might be the only thing that would stop me from using it as my main carpet cleaner where the cat likes to drop its fur and dander the most. 5. I don't see a way to auto-adjust the power/mode, it seems like its always on Auto and that means the motor is constantly ramping and slowing down. I kind of wish there was a way to kick those RPMS to max always, but I think this is part of the reason runtime is so good. It doesn't look like you can buy the Auto-Empty base to this unit after the fact unfortunately. It looks like you would need a contact on the handle or battery pack somewhere and I don't see that on my unit. That would have been a nice upgrade path for this unit for those who wanted it but doesn't look like that's possible. Still, with the long battery life and powerful cleaning ability, this is still a great unit because you won't need to charge it every use, but if those features are important to you, look at the Auto-Empty Base version for a little more.

    Excellent Vacuum for Stairs!

Another excellent Shark product! I’ve owned several of their vacuums and prefer their vacuums over other popular brands. The suction just appears to be so much better and this battery operated smart stick vacuum is no exception. It's lightweight, powerful, and can reach into tight spaces with ease. I own a regular upright vacuum from Shark and have always appreciated the powerful suction and longevity of it. I needed something smaller and lighter to use on our stairs and smaller bathroom areas. This stick vacuum is an excellent choice. I don't have to worry about any settings because it detects and sets everything automatically. It knows the floor type, soil level, corners, and adjusts everything perfectly. The flex option is a nice addition especially if you have stairs. Utilizing the flex option, I can vacuum each individual stair in its entirety in almost a single movement. The fact that the unit is lightweight really cuts the amount of time it takes for me to vacuum my carpeted stairs in half. It's great for my tile bathroom floors as well. The LCD screen on the handle makes it easy to see what the current setting is and how much battery life is left which is very convenient and easy to just glance at when you are moving. As far as battery life goes, its OK. I usually can get about 50-60 minutes out of a single charge not in ECO mode. In ECO mode, I can get 60-70 minutes as advertised. But that's enough for what I use it for and I have no complaints. It's very simple to empty and clean out. With a single button press, the container where the debris is stored opens up and empties right into the trash can. It couldn't get any easier. I really appreciate what Shark has done with this unit and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic battery operated stick vacuum that is lightweight as well as next generation when it comes to sensor technology.

Amazing vacuum, I’m loving it and using it all the time. Came in a large but surprisingly thin box. They include the vacuum itself, an AC charging adaptor and a couple of different heads (one with shorter head that is a pet multi_tool, but I use it in small spaces like my car lol) and one straight one to reach crevices. Once I got it I fully charged it and then assembled it (super easy) and off to the races. It has an automatic led light so you can see what you are vacuuming. I love that it “sucks” both when you move it forward (like any other vacuum) but it also “sucks” when you go backwards, this is almost like double cleaning a spot in one go. The vacuum itself detects the level of dirtiness and it will adjust automatically its suction power (it has other modes like ECO to save power). I also love that it will detect when you are next to a wall and it will adjust its power accordingly to be able to suck with much power next to the walls. Now, the best part, specially for me that I have a bad lower back, the main large stick can be bent 90 degrees and I can reach bellow and under my beds and tables, without having to bend myself and destroy my back any more, I love this!! The only con I could find is that the receptacle for the dirt is a little small and it got full on me fast, so I had to dumb the dirt on my trash a couple of times while vacuuming my whole place. Only that. Hand down the best cordless vacuum I’ve had and the best for my bad lower back too!!

Cordless vacuums are now pretty much the norm, being more convenient overall than dragging around something with a power cord. The Shark PowerDetect Cordless vacuum is a good option if you’re looking for something that works well, but doesn’t break the bank like some other models out there. The PowerDetect is about midrange when it comes to weight. It’s not feather-light, but not what I’d call heavy. I do have some arm issues, and I can still use it without much of an issue. On a bad day I may divide rooms over the course of two days, but again, that’s with my arm kinks. Average users shouldn’t have an issue. Mine comes with a typical crevice type tool, a multi-use tool (pet hair, etc), and a HEPA filter that slides out of the handle area for cleaning. The approx. 18 inch main cleaning head has non-clogging dual “front to back” rollers in it that do a good job picking up a variety of things from dust and dirt to yes, nuggets and cereal, and they don’t allow pet hairs to just roll around them and get stuck. It picks up as you push and pull effectively. It works on my flat carpet as well as my bamboo floors without any issues. The cleaning head does have lights on both the front and back, to help you see as you vacuum. One very nice feature is that the main adjustable arm has a release in the middle which allows it to bend like an elbow, so you can push the vacuum head underneath tables and furniture without having to bend over as much as a traditional non-bending arm. VERY welcome as your back gets older and more tired. This feature also allows you to fully fold the vacuum forward in a U-shape, for storage, as there is no stand or wall mount. There’s a basic digital readout on top so you can change settings easily. An illuminated ring tells you what level of dirt the PowerDetect is sensing on the area you’re cleaning, and the vacuum will adjust it’s suction power to accommodate cleaning power from eco, or low/medium/high. You can pick a turbo mode for maximum power but the battery life will go pretty quick if you keep it there for long. The dirt bin is a nice size, and collects a good amount before you have to empty it by pressing a button on top of the handle area to unhinge it over the trash. The vacuum does detect when you are going up against walls, and increases power for what as well, and does a good job getting stuff that’s hugging the walls. Battery life is always the weakest part of any cordless vacuum. The PowerDetect’s battery takes about 5-6 hours to power up from a completely empty status. You plug it in on the handle area and a pulsing light changes from orange to green, to a solid green, eventually turning off when fully charged. Run time is “up to” 70 minutes, but do note that’s when you are using it on eco mode, the weakest suction, which is fine for general day-to-day cleaning, but you will need to crank up the power for more challenging jobs, which does drain the battery much more quickly, especially again, at the strongest turbo setting. It would have been nice to have an extended battery, but that would add to the weight. I have a relatively small home, so one full charge is good enough for my own needs. I like the Shark PowerDetect. It works well, the bendable arm is very handy for people who may have mobility issues, and it’s easy to store, although I think I would have liked to have seen a more traditional hanger/bracket or stand included. I do recommend this!

    Impressive PowerDetect Technology

The PowerDetect technology is fantastic for autodetect, economizer (maximizes runtime), and power boost. There is a button to adjust the setting, either (1) Eco, (2) Boost, or (3) Detect (the option is all done automatically). For Detect, it changes power based on whether the vacuum is on carpet, hardwood, or tile. The machine detects dirt coming inside the chamber, and if it is too dirty, it increases the suction power. When dirt is less, the machine reduces the suction power to help save the battery. When the vacuum is on a carpet, it ramps up the suctioning and the brush roller speed. I recommend moving the vacuum slowly to give the PowerDetect enough time to adjust the settings. The vacuum cleans in both directions, the forward and reverse. It is very easy to maneuver even on thick carpet. The multiflex wand adjusts to different angles and lets you easily vacuum under most hard-to-reach furniture without bending down on the floor. Also, the multiflex wand option folds the vacuum into a storage position. What I like the most is the EdgeSensors, which, when up against a wall edge, ramps up the suction power to grab whatever is on the edge. The control panel/monitor informs you about the battery charge, the mode of cleaning, and dirt level. The vacuum also has low-light detection, which automatically illuminates dark areas to help you spot debris easily. Overall, this is a great vacuum; it does a great job vacuuming, super powerful, lightweight, and maneuverable.

I bought this thinking it would be a great cordless vacuum sweeper. I especially choose it because of the "edge" cleaning it is supposed to have. All in all, it does work good, but not as well as I had hoped for the edge cleaning part. The other downside is that it is very heavy and will not stand up by itself. You have to fold it over to store it standing up or simply remove the top part that has the battery and the dirt cup attachment.

We had the other brand for years but the battery started failing as soon as the warranty ended. Tried a cheap brand, that failed in a year too. Did a bunch more research before finally purchasing this model and I could not be more thrilled. We have had it for two months and it is genuinely a joy to use. Detection features are on point and the folding for charging and flexing to get under furniture is a game changer! Absolutely love this vacuum.

Summary: Does a great job of cleaning with auto detect mode for edges and carpets. The battery life is reasonable. Compact folding design and a good value at its price. Pros: - Suction, suction, suction. - Battery life is decent, 40-60 minutes depending on setting - Detect Mode does a decent job changing from carpet to wood floor. - Boost Mode is great in corners - Eco Mode is quiet, works OK. - Well constructed, flexible for tough spots. - The Pet Multi-Tool worked well on the couch. - Picks up pet hair easily. - Detects edges and adjusts suction accordingly - LED shows where to vacuum well. - Easy to set up. Matter of Taste: - Takes 6-7 hours to reach full charge when drained. - Needs to be folded to store, or even left standing to move furniture. - Emptying Dust Bin is easy, but be careful it’s close to the trash. - Moderate weight, all this power at a reasonable weight, but hard to hold for high spots. -On/Off button instead of a trigger. Cons: - Hard to push on thick carpets - Charges with standard cord system, not built in dock. - Doesn’t come with a second battery - A tad loud on Boost Mode More Words: I am always in search of convenience without compromises and was disappointed in early generation cordless vacuums. This was important to me because believe it or not, cleaning isn’t my favorite thing to do. The Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum addresses all my concerns and improved on things I didn’t know needed improving and makes the job easier than most alternatives. First and foremost, a vacuum needs to vacuum and this Shark has plenty of suction power. And it directs it where it’s needed, the edge detect provides power to the wall and does a great job of cleaning. The detect mode makes it easy to change from wood floor to carpet. It is easy to angle to get under the furniture. And the battery lasts longer than I am interested in cleaning. I thought the LED was a gimmick, but it actually helps to show where to clean. And clean it does, especially effective with pet hair (cats). It takes a fair amount of time to charge, so I charge it overnight. It can stay plugged in even when charged so that’s how I leave. I have enough power bricks in the house, don’t really like another one, would have preferred a dock but it excels in every other way and it folds up in a compact form for the closet when done. This won’t replace my corded vac, mostly because it’s top heavy so isn’t the best for drapes, but for 95% of what I do, this does it better. And at this price, it’s a no brainer for me.

I hated the stick vac I had in my shop. I was pretty excited to get this one. Unboxing it, I was pleased to see its quality build. I, of course, charged it before use, though I was anxious to get started. I love the power detect mode. It detects the floor type and adjusts accordingly. Eco mode extends battery life. Boost maximizes the suction power. My shop has hardwood floors. There's a welcome rug at the entrance and an area rug in the back room. At the register, there's a thicker mat for helping with standing in one spot for long periods of time. This mat has a weird surface that isn't carpet. It acts like microfiber and attracts dirt like crazy. My previous vacuum could not remove the dirt from this mat at all. The boost mode works great on this mat! It was the only time I really needed to use the boost. Except for the dog bed I keep there for my doodle that comes to the shop. He doesn't shed much but there is hair on it. This helped to lift the hair up beautifully especially with the pet multi-tool. I used the bend to get under display tables, the glass jewelry counter and also the checkout counter. I have tennis elbow, so the bend caused pain in my elbow with extended use with it bent. In regular "straight" mode, I didn't have any issues. The "head" light helped to see in these places I was vacuuming under. My previous vacuum would push dirt around on the back stroke but this one sucks it all up in both directions! The charging of this vacuum, I did when I left for the night so I can't say how long it takes to charge, but it took several days of vacuuming to discharge. My previous vacuum would be used up in about 20 minutes. This is my favorite cordless vacuum to date! It absolutely beats out the last vacuum in the shop and is better than my favorite one in my home. I would absolutely recommend this vacuum to anyone.

Shark makes amazing products. A little over 10 years ago I bought my first Shark vacuum because it was compared to that other big vacuum brand and half the price. Since taking that chance, I have been a Shark owner ever since. This Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum keeps carrying the the torch while adding useful features, but also introducing a flaw in design that I have not seen Shark make before. First off, the good. This Shark vacuum has an amazing battery life compared to other stick vacuums I have tested. I have vacuumed thoroughly my home twice on a single battery charge, which is AWESOME. With other vacuums I have tested, I would be able to make it around half way through cleaning and have to stop to charge. So battery life is two thumbs way way up. Mobility. This vacuum, for the most part, is a wizard. Hallways, tight corners, even UNDER furniture! This Shark Stick Vacuum has the ability to hinge about 2/3 up the vacuum which allows me to vacuum under my couch and most furniture with minimal effort. I did not notice any loss of suction or negative results while using the vacuum in its hinged configuration. Suction. This vacuum sucks. It really sucks. And in the case of a vacuum, that is the most important trait a vacuum can have. A good vacuum must suck! And the Shark passes with flying colors. Maintenance. Essentially, there is none. Shark advertises that hair will not get tangled up around the brushes as this vacuum is self cleaning. I have heard claims from vacuums before, including Shark, however this is the first vacuum that I have seen actually achieve this goal. Between the soft feel of the brushes to the teeth that clean the brushes, Shark continues its magic here. Now the flaws. First, this vacuum is tall. Its taller than others I have reviewed and almost has an awkward feel because of it. This height difference may be due to the new hinge feature, or maybe I am getting shorter. But as a shorter statured person, I felt that I had to angle the vacuum more to get the desired angle for comfort, and I did have to sacrifice some mobility to achieve this. Deal breaker? Definitely not. And if the user is in the upper 5 foot tall or taller range, I am sure this will be a non-issue. Second, the dust bin emptying method is atrocious. If the vacuum is standing up, the bin is hinged at the top and the bottom of bin tilts away from the vacuum. When you through gravity into the mix, as soon as you press the hinge release button, all of your dust and dirt you just spent all that time vacuuming up will spill all over the floor. In order to effectively empty the vacuum, you need to detach the vacuum handle from the stick, take it over to the trash, and empty it that way. Doable? Yes. But it is not convenient in the slightest. Shark, please rectify this flaw on future designs. Everything considered, this is a Great(ish) Shark vacuum. The technology and power definitely lead the way. Unfortunately, it seems it did come at the cost of some common sense. If this vacuum was to be perfect, I think it needs a stand with auto empty, or at least a modified bin empty process. If you love Shark as I do, I wouldn't let these flaws deter you from purchasing. However, I don't think this iteration will win over any fans of competing brands.

I was excited to try this Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum with Powerful Suction and HEPA Filtration out because it seemed like it may be similar to an older Shark Stick Vacuum that I have owned for years but wasn't working as well anymore. In design it is extremely similar. It is lightweight and much easier to use both in a traditional sense as well as converted for use as a handheld (particularly for those times you need to vacuum out your car at home). The ability to fold down makes it super compact and easy to store away which is an absolute must after every use (it is top heavy and does not easily stay up on it's own when fully extended). The suction is outstanding in every mode I tested with the added perk of the color indicators letting you know when the areas you are vacuuming are truly clean (something that showed me how easy it is to misjudge how well you have vacuumed the unseen debris). I was a little disappointed that unlike the older similar model that I own this one ddi not come with 2 batteries and a charging dock but quickly realized that the much better battery life on this one makes up for it. The 2 accessories that came with it are pretty standard for every Shark I have owned and are extremely useful especially when using in my car or to help with cleaning shelves or tight spaces. As far as any cons...there aren't many that I came across. It is significantly louder than I expected especially when used at max. This isn't a huge deal but was a surprise. Again, the fact that it does not come with an extra battery or a charging dock is a slight con simply because the way you have to charge is a little awkward. This also isn't a huge deal but it would have been nice to have a charging dock for the battery at the price point. Overall this is a great option for a stick vacuum. It offers a good amount of versatility, great suction, and a more than adequate battery life per charge.
