We used it ones and it will not power on the second time we tried to use it. It is clean, I've checked all the hoses and make sure lights are not flashing. The power button would just not work.
We're sorry to learn that your Stratos isn't powering on. Please reach out to our team by phone at 1-855-427-5127. We'd be happy to look into this for you.

Cleans carpet well, but brushrolls stop spinning constantly, very difficult to take apart to clean ends of main brushroll. Would not buy again!!!! Spent $329 just to throw in garbage a few months later.

Top Performance, but Loud

This Shark vacuum can brag about performance. It has a strong suction and catches pet hair like few others can, but it brings a loud noise with that strength. My solution is to wear a noise canceling headset while using it.
Pros:
- Lights to illuminate dark areas
- Cord long enough to cover big areas without moving to other outlets or using an extension
- Strong suction
- Easy-to-replace filters
- Sturdy
Cons:
- Bin could be bigger. That's important if you don't vacuum often
- Heavy. Maybe to remind you that it has good performance
- Loud. I believe it is for the same reason that it is heavy
Overall, I’m happy with it because it does a great job picking up dirt and hair. The loud noise is a bit annoying, but if you just wear a pair of headphones with active noise canceling, like I do, or just listen to loud music, you will be fine. Well, you might hear complaints from the rest of the family, but everybody will appreciate the clean room after that.
I would have no issues recommending it.

I'm a floor fanatic. I'm constantly cleaning the floor, likely because I have 2 dogs and a cat. This Shark Stratos vacuum makes quick work of the pet hair, long girl hair and has a nice fresh scent!
I own other Shark vacuums, the the Stratos ups the game with Odor Neutralizing technology. Basically it's a scent cup that you install and modify the scent intensity. Interesting feature but it's just another thing to purchase. If you use a powder or carpet scent already - this is the vacuum for you!
Like the other Sharks - I'm impressed with the power and handling of the Stratos. The lift-away container/motor turn it into a stick-vac, so you can easily vacuum under beds, couches, chairs and tables. The head width is perfect for steps too - never a fun job but made easy with this vacuum.
Shark provided a nice long cord - you might be able to do your entire floor from a single outlet - depending on the size of your house of course.
I also like the position of the power button and ability to change the floor type setting right from the handle.
It's easy to clean the dust bin, filters are easily accessible as well and the powerfins basically clean themselves!
Overall - I highly recommend the Shark Stratos and other Shark products as well - I haven't been disappointed yet!

Best upright vaccum with excellent suction power

The package I purchased includes the Upright vacuum, HairPro self-cleaning Pet Power Brush, duster crevice tool, upholstery tool, odor neutralizer cartridges, and a 5-year warranty.
Pros:
1. Handle can be detached from the base to be used with the attachments.
2. Powered lift away where in we can detach the canister and use the vaccum like a stick vac is amazing. This helps us to reach high places like cleaning the dirt in the roof or fan blades while holding the canister in our hand. Also it is easy to vaccum the floor with the canister in the hand so that the vaccum doesn't feel heavy. Since I have back problem, I usually had issues in the past with Dyson Animal 2 vaccum as it felt very heavy and there is no way the canister can be detached. SHark has did an excellent job in fixing this problem which the other competitors have failed to fix.
3. Increased dust capacity of 1.48 quarts is a a big upgrade which helps us keep running the vaccum across the entire house without having to empty the canister multiple times.
4. Light - It is easy to clean under the table or furnitures or bed with the light on the rollers. My Dyson Animal 2 did not have this feature and i find this feature really helpful.
5. Completely Sealed technology combined with the HEPA filter which filters particles down to 0.3 microns which prevents the dust we vaccum from circulating in the house.
6. Duo clean head is a patentend brushroll that combines soft roller and a traditional roller into the same floor nozzle.
7. Ability to control the suction power on the handle - This is a unique feature for upright vaccum. I have seen this on some of my cordless vaccums that I had in the past. I like this feature as i can choose the suction power depending on how dirty the carpet/floors are.
8. Powered Pet tool attachment is small but powerful. It does pick up the human hair without being tangled. Which i am pretty sure will work for Pet hair too.
Tests:
1. Cleaning the hair - I tested this by vaccuming the entire house. Stratos did an amazing job of picking up all the hair and left the carpet look very clean. When I turned the vaccum over i found almost no hair underneath. It came up pretty clean. This was not the case with my Dyson Animal 2 vaccum. I had to clean up the human hair every single time. If I clean it may be once in a month, the brush roll will stop spinning after an year or two and there will be loud sound from the vaccum. Stratos did not have any of those problems as there was no hair present in the brush roll which saves atleast 5 to 10 min every single time. This is a big deal for me and I love my Stratos just for this. Although it is recommended to eject the front soft roller and clean the stuff that gets stuck as part of regular maintenance.
2. Cleaning around the edges of the wall - The Stratos did an excellent job in picking up the smaller pieces of food that was present close to the wall without having to use the crevice tool.
3. Strongest suction of any upright vaccum in the market - I tested this by cleaning the particles stuck between cracks/gaps in the floor - Stratos was as strong as my Dyson Animal 2 in picking up the food particles stuck between the gaps in the floor or mat. I really love the powerful suction of Stratos. It does indeed have the strongest suction like Dyson. But not sure if they are both the same but i am pretty satisfied with the suction power of Stratos.
4. Cleaning under the furniture - Stratos is able to clean under the low-clearance furniture by removing the Powered Liftaway and using the head like a stick vac. I was able to cleani under the table that had around 8-inch clearance quite easily. One can even twist the handle to swivel the head in this mode.
5. Cleaning the cereals - This came up clean with few attempts especially the thicker cereals put up a bit of fight but there were no flying particles. The ejections did happen but it was minimal and i was happy that there were no flying particles. Suction is pretty impressive.
6. Cleaning the fan blades - Multi angle dust brush is my favorite. It helps to reach the fan blades by still maintaining the impressive suction. Unlike other vaccums where the dust flies around when cleaning the fan blades, this one did an excellent job of cleaning the fan blades with no dust flying around.
Cons:
There is only one con that i can think of which is the Odor Neutralizer. It did emit a clean and fresh smell while running the vaccum (unlike other vaccums) which is a plus but that smell was mixed with the usual vaccum exhaust smell. I would say the odor neutralizer works but does not really completely neutralizes the smell. I think Shark will be improvising on this in their future models.

Powerful vacuum! I love the suction power of this vacuum. I wasn’t sure about purchasing it because of several reviews saying the vacuum is too heavy, but honestly it’s not that bad. It’s not like I’ll be carrying the vacuum all the time. It glides smoothly on all surfaces. P

Great vacuum, thoughtful design, loud

Shark has a good reputation for great vacuums that owners love while being a little more budget friendly. This is certainly true of this newest upright vacuum.
Shark put a few thoughtful touches into the design that I appreciated. These include a longer power cable, a front rubber bumper so when you accidentally push it into the corner of a wall it doesn't break anything or mar the wall, a power button on the wand handle instead of on the motor section and a removeable hose from the motor section for easy cleaning of the hose if needed.
The suction on this vacuum is almost ridiculously high. It is very powerful, more powerful than other vacuums I've owned. I first swept the house with our old vacuum and then went over it again with this Shark and I couldn't believe how much more the Shark picked up. It was astounding. We have a cat that sheds and the Shark really did well at picking up the cat hair.
Emptying the dust collection cup is very easy. You can set different heights of the main sweeper head for different types of carpet, and the vacuum also worked well on our hard floors.
There are two negatives I will mention. The first is that this vacuum is very loud. Perhaps that's why the suction is so great. Also, when using the lift away feature, it is rather easy to tip over the lift away motor because the hose is tight and can't stretch very far. Perhaps the hose will stretch more with use.
We're so sorry to hear that you’re having trouble with your Shark Stratos Vacuum. Please reach out to our team by phone at 1-855-427-5127, we'd be happy to look into this for you.

Performs as a Vacuum should!

This is our second Shark vacuum that we have owned, and this unit is by far, the best vacuum we have ever owned. The suction power on this unit is far superior to the other model and better than another competitor's product of similar specifications and price. The ease of use of this well-balanced machine makes getting under furniture quite easy with minimal bending over. Going around items and furniture pieces is an absolute breeze as the unit head swivels perfectly with minimal force needed to make it move/turn. The bonus of this machine is that one can detach the unit at the base and carry the catch basin to get to hard-to-reach areas such as stairs, tops of window sills etc. It excels in picking up hair from my constantly shedding teenage daughter and the self-cleaning brush roll works as advertised – I have not had to untangle the roll as of a week of daily use. The odor neutralizing technology actually does function and work as advertised.
Overall – this is a vacuum that performs as a vacuum should – great suction, ease of maneuverability, limited maintenance and ability to detach to reach hard places. I would highly recommend this product. A bit pricey, of course, but the old saying applies here – you get what you pay for!

This is a nice vacuum. The suction power is awesome and the motor is not over bearing and loud. The product came nicely packaged with all the normal attachments and instructions. Assembly was a snap, less than 10 minutes. The odorizing filter is a nice touch but I put it on the minimal setting to just get a hint of the freshness. The weight of this vacuum, however, is a touch on the heavy side. This makes maneuvering the vacuum around tight spaces a little difficult. Nothing to give a star off, just be aware that this weighs a little bit much. This probably is the motor which does a fantastic job. The controls being right at your thumb is really nice. Being able to switch heights based on the type flooring with a slide of your thumb, thumbs up! The cord is nice and long, making it less frequent to stop and change plugs. Emptying the dust bin is a breeze, just unhook, open up the bin on either end and the dust and dirt slide right out. Nothing hangs up and you just close it up and pop it right back in. Impressive machine, I recommend this vacuum.

My 30 year-old Electrolux cannister vacuum cleaner is still going, but I thought it might be time to find a replacement. Inevitably, little things here and there are ceasing to work, and I’m tired of buying bags for it, so this new Shark Stratos Duoclean vacuum caught my eye. We already have a cordless stick vacuum, and as much as I like it, I wanted to go back to a corded vacuum in hopes that it might provide more power for those times when I need that.
The Duoclean is nicely packaged, and while you won’t find unboxing videos for a vacuum cleaner, I was still impressed with Shark’s packaging. They even included helpful hints inside the top flap of the box. It comes in several pieces, and following the helpful diagrams, I had it put together in short order. Each piece fits into the previous one with a satisfying “click” that lets you know you got it right.
The Duoclean comes with an odor-neutralizing cartridge that is required in order for the vacuum to function. It has a pleasant smell that really does spread throughout the room as you vacuum. It’s not overpowering or cloying, so it’s a nice addition. You can even dial up or down the level of fragrance output. This is a nice touch!
Once everything was assembled, it was time to try it out. For an upright, it’s a little heavy, but that’s not a problem at all because of how smoothly it moves. One very pleasant surprise was that it seems to have a ball joint where the vertical wand joins the motorized floor nozzle. This makes it easy to maneuver the vacuum in whichever direction you need to go.
I have a large ottoman in my living room, and attempting to sweep under it revealed what at first appeared to be a limitation. The dirt cup (called the “pod”) has a pretty decent capacity, and that makes it stick out from the wand. This prevents you from getting under things like ottomans and couches. That’s when I realized that maybe this thing is more versatile than I imagined. The pod may be detached from the nozzle, effectively giving you a slim stick vacuum for getting under things. This was very easy to do—simply press the button to release the pod, lift it off with the built-in handle, and hold it aside while using your other hand to maneuver the nozzle under whatever you need to get under. Clicking the pod back in place reverts the vacuum to an upright. I did find that it’s very important to seat the pod on the nozzle/wand properly. I failed to do that once and it was impossible to remove it until I managed to get it properly seated again.
If you’ve ever used the old uprights that also provided the ability to use above-floor tools, you’ll appreciate the way that Shark has implemented that feature on the Duoclean. There are multiple ways to do this:
• Release the handle from the wand, attach a tool such as the crevice tool, and stretch the hose out as needed.
• Release the handle and pod, giving you a portable vacuum cleaner completely independent of the nozzle and wand, to be used with the additional tools.
• Release the pod and full wand, with the handle attached, giving you a portable vacuum with the reach to easily get those corners of the ceiling or other out of reach area, to be used with the additional tools.
Having these abilities makes the Duoclean probably the most versatile vacuum I’ve ever owned. It really does combine the best features of a cannister vacuum with the maneuverability of an upright. And speaking of tools, it also comes with a smaller version of the beater-brush nozzle that you can use for cleaning your car, for example.
When using the Duoclean as a traditional upright, you can take advantage of the LED headlights on the nozzle. This is not a new innovation, but it’s nice to have. The lights also serve as status indicators in case something goes wrong. For example, if you see flashing white lights, it indicates that you’re operating the Duoclean outside the normal operating temperature range of 32 – 104 degrees. I don’t know about you, but if you need to vacuum outside of those temps, you may have other things to worry about!
The Duoclean has a robust filtering system as well. It includes a two-stage air filter that you rinse out when necessary, as well as a HEPA filter. This should do a fine job of making sure that nothing you vacuum up will come back out into the air.
What about the main function of every vacuum—sucking up dirt? The Duoclean claims to have the most suction power of any Shark, and I believe it! Compared to my ancient Electrolux, and even my much newer cordless stick vacuum, the Duoclean picked up more debris than either of those. The dual rollers performed very well on carpets and hardwood floors, and switching between them was as easy as moving a slider to the appropriate setting.
I’m very happy with the Duoclean, and if it lasts as long as the Electrolux, keeping our floors clean will never be a problem!

I have really enjoyed this vacuum so far. I have only used it a few times, so I can't speak for it's long term reliability. I love the swivel technology, so it can get into areas more easily. The 3 levels of flooring height work great. It smells fresh after the use. It really pulls up all the nasty stuff lingering and is very intense. Be sure headphones and stuff aren't laying around. It was so quick I couldn't save them! Haha. Great purchase and would definitely recommend.

I have own multiple "shark Upright Vacuum" over the years and I found this one to be more maneuverable. The assembly was the same as the last generation models with the exception of the "odor Neutralizer in the base. Not sure yet if this new technology enhances the cleaning procedures since I have only had it for a couple of weeks.
