Con: Probably won't fit your vehicle. Serves two functions: power all the time, power only when engine on, but certainly NOT the ability to switch between either option after being installed. On older vehicles with larger fuses this will be too small and require re-wiring/re-fitting with a larger fuse tap in plug, so it may be extra work, extra stuff to buy to set it up. Personally, I ended up using the included 12V rex plug through another multipurpose charging enclosure cause I wanted the option to either leave the camera on or off while the engine is off at the push of a button; the camera itself has no off switch so the cord would have to be manually pulled from it if using the fuse tap wire in always on mode.

The hardwire kit is designed to record for a few seconds when a collision is detected.
Leaving the camera on for extended periods of time will result in draining your car battery.

When my husband went to install he realized it has a straight end on it and not a 90 degree like the previous one that was purchased two years ago. If you are hardwiring the dash cam the straight end makes it more difficult to connect as the wire is not flexible. It sticks out so much more resulting in a less professional installation. They no longer carry the kit with the 90 degree angle which is truly unfortunate.
