This speaker sounds great. It was super easy to setup and add to my Sonos app. Took literally just a minute or 2 to add. I have other Sonos speakers so already had the app downloaded, but adding it is a breeze.
What’s great is after you name the room you have it in and setting the bass and treble to your liking in the app - you are ready to rock, literally. Bluetooth connectivity was a snap and the Sonos app easily lets you push your music all over the house to this and other Sonos speakers flawlessly and in sync.
I tried all kinds of music and whether it’s bass heavy rap, rock, alt, dance, acoustic, jazz, classical, etc. they all sounded great and it’s a significant sound improvement over the Sonos One.
It’s a bit bigger (maybe twice the width) of the Sonos One but has a much more spatial and a “full” sound to it.
One note on placement - I tried it on a kitchen island and the bass was a little underwhelming. Then I moved it to near a wall to let the rear of the speaker have something to bounce / reflect off of and that's the bass magic. So recommend setting or mounting near a wall or corner for it to really reflect off of.
So far 2 cons for me:
1) There is no option for Google assistant. We’re a Google house and this only supports Alexa and its own Sonos voice control. That said – I can tell my Google Homes and Sonos One’s via their Google assistant to play music to this speaker.
2) The other is I’ll have to upgrade my Sonos home theater Playbar with the new Sonos Arc to take advantage of the 7.1 Dolby Atmos that this speaker can pump out.
If you are just setting up your home theater and going with the Arc, you’ll be happy with these as your Atmos surround.
If you just want this as a great sounding spatial speaker in a room it really fills it up on its own.
