Satisfied with Sony 42" Bravia XR OLED UHD TV

The TV was purchased out of the box, so we had to purchase a Remote. Otherwise, the TV works great the clarity of the screen is perfect, everything runs well, so far we have had many hours of Gaming and movies and video pleasure. We have installed it to my sons bedroom wall and he loves it.

Not a fan of the remote it comes with, but use the xfinity one most of the time. For TV speakers the sound is quite good but I am still planning on getting a sound bar

If you need working USB ports READ THIS FIRST!

Owned for 5 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good #1: Picture quality is good (it uses the LG OLED screen so I expected that it would be great). Good #2: It has a stand that allows me to set the tv about 6" higher off the table - helpful in the setting I am using. So much for the good stuff. The rest is problematic for me. Bad #1: I do NOT like the interface on this TV. I have LG OLED TV's in the rest of my home and I like that interface much better. Sony wastes way too much screen space and causes me needless scrolling and searching for what I want. Nothing seems easily or quickly available. It is similar to Apple TV. Yuck! Bad #2: The USB ports - This would have been an absolute deal-breaker had I discovered it in time to return this TV!! I require my TVs to have working USB ports so I can attach external hard drives to play my extensive library of old movies. The ports on this SONY do not appear to have power to do this. The software appears "see" that there is something on the USB port, but acts like it is not powered enough to run/read those mechanical drives. Never could get it to work. After days of working with this, I gave up. I then tried flash thumb drives (FAT32 file structure) - they do work, but again the SONY software took a while to generate an initial directory structure. Subsequent access to that same flash memory stick did populate quicker. However, my libraries are very large I needed more capacity than the flash memory sticks offered, so I then purchased a Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD drive (a very expensive solution to try to fix this SONY problem). The TV could not read the default exFAT file format (it doesn't work on my other LG TVs either), After trying to get help from SONY (they just dropped my chat and left), I contacted SanDisk to see if I could reformat the SSD to NTFS without loss of performance. They assured me it was ok. So I reformatted it to NTFS, and then copy all of my libraries onto it. I tried it on the Sony TV and it did work - the SONY did read it very quickly. But goodness, this is an expensive and time-consuming solution! I spent days working through this problem. So, if you need to read libraries with the USB ports on your TV, I would not recommend this TV you unless you have Flash memory sticks or have the expensive SSD drives.

We can download one, it would be better if there were one with the product. There are a lot of features with this TV and our knowledge of technology isn't up to date. A manual would be of great help in getting the full use of the TV.

Good picture, but major disappointments

Standard 480 DVDs came across with a very dark picture compared to being played on a 1080 TV. I was very disappointed that Sony‘s top of the line OLED $1300 TV did not come with an instruction manual, nor could I find one on the Internet. It was trial and error to try to connect my components to it. I was surprised that a sophisticated TV at this cost did not have RCA or component inputs for older components to connect, such as a VCR.

TV display may vary depending on the source, connection, and content you are watching. You may experience a lower quality picture than specified for your TV for several reasons. To experience the highest quality picture on your TV, the video source should be the same quality (HD, 4K, etc.) as specified for your TV. You may refer to this link with information if you are experiencing poor picture quality when viewing some videos on your 4K TV:

The TV doesn't support composite/regular RCA connection (yellow, red, and white), a third party adapter will be needed. You may need to use an analog extension cable(3.5mm, 4-pole Mini jack to RCA yellow, red and white, not supplied) that can be purchase at most electronic retailers, Please refer to this link with information on connecting A/V devices with composite connection:
