APPLE iPAD QUALITY PICTURE...HAPPINESS :)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Crazy good picture that I can now look at my iPad (3 Gen), and look at this Sony 49" and say they both look awesome! Sony has always been our Best Buy! Lol! You will not be dissappointed. I also made sure I did research to find the best price; to utilize the price match that Best Buy offers! Woo Hoo! I saved an additional $100!!! PS From experience, hire the Geeks to setup your TV as they will take all responsibility and liability if something should go wrong! Being a member, I also saved $50 too!

Worst interface ever with other devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had an older Bose sound bar which works very well. We also have DirecTV set top box (about a year old), and a new Sony DVD blue-ray player we bought with the TV. We couldn't get the Soundbar, DVD player or DirecTV to be controlled through the Sony remote. Setup manual was incomplete and inaccurate. After spending 4 hours researching the manual and on-line, then another 3 hours with Sony Customer Service on the phone (who was a pleasant enough guy but not very knowledgeable), we found out that the IR Interface that was supposedly "necessary" to make the Sony remote control the DirecTV satellite never did work. The instructions on their stupid IR Blaster interface cable are inaccurate and confusing where to place the devices as well and the instructions from Sony Customer Service was inconsistent. VERY SLOPPY DESIGN OVERALL. We also discovered that our Bose soundbar connected via Optical Output could not be controlled by the Sony remote either. All that meant was we needed 3 remotes - one to control the DirecTV satellite, one for the Bose soundbar and one for the Sony TV (we never even got to setting up the DVD player on the call but that didn't work through the Sony remote either). We finally bailed on the call after 3 hours wasted, disconnected the ridiculously flimsy IR Interface and just programmed our 5-yr old Bose universal remote. Our BOSE remote now controls ALL DEVICES PERFECTLY and is apparently forward compatible!!! DirecTV satellite, DVD player, TV and all the TV's Apps, and the Bose Soundbar now work! I will say that I do like the picture quality; deep colors and black contrast, which is the only reason I gave it any positive rating overall. Otherwise, I would have sent the TV back to the store. PS – the Sony remote buttons are also clunky and hard to use. Good thing we have a really good Bose remote.

Beautiful, Bright, Realistic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after returning a Samsung Q6F and am so much happier with the Sony. Bright, clear and realistic picture for movies, tv, and games. It handles motion and dark scenes perfectly. Only con would be the slight lag in the Android TV response, but I just use other streaming options.

It's ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV gets the job done but has a very unresponsive remote and using 2 or more apps in a day causes it to chug.

Good TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The tv is pretty good. It's a slight upgrade from the X900E, but it has Dolby Vision which is really good. Overall it's a great TV for general use. Input lag is kinda high if you're a gamer, but it's not terrible.

usb not able to show photos in proper sequence
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, we love the picture quality and color, but our biggest disappointment was not being able to view our photos from a thumb drive in the sequence we had previously arranged. When the thumb drive is inserted in the USB port, the pictures come up, but they are all out of order and the display is confusing because one album runs right next to the other across the screen. There is no list or separate thumbnails to view albums. All photos were scrambled and not in the order that we had arranged on our computer. Removed the thumb drive and tried renumbering all the images but when put back in the USB port, photos still scrambled. Several hours spent on the phone and email with Sony was not helpful. We had an old LG TV before, and never had any problem with showing photos from a thumb drive. Seems like the USB port was an afterthought from Sony and not designed right. Very frustrating for those customers who are photographers and want to show off photos to friends. Unfortunately, we will return the TV and buy something else.

NOT HAPPY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LOVE SONY TVS. HOWEVER, I DO NOT LOVE THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE A TV ALREADY THAT IS BARELY 3 YEARS OLD. I HAVE HAD BETTER LUCK WITH SONY IN THE PAST, THAT'S WHY PREFER THE SONY BRAND. IF YOUR TVS ARE NOT GOING TO HAVE LONGEVITY LIKE THE REST MAYBE I SHOULD START PURCHASING THE CHEAPER BRANDS AGAIN. UGH

Died within 6 months with little usage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV in January 2019 for our vacation home. Didn't even install it until about April. Used it only a few times and now, in July, it stopped working. Called Sony support and they confirmed it was dead and are replacing it, but not with a new TV but rather, in their terms, a "recertified or refurbished product". And that replacement is not guaranteed, they will only replace it if they approve the visual proof you have to submit to them to support your claim that the TV is not working. We are still waiting to hear from Sony whether they have accepted the evidence we uploaded to them. So, despite the glowing reviews, which I relied on to buy this TV, I would not recommend this TV.

Disappointed with both Sony & Best Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV in February and by September it no longer worked. I had Sony come out to repair and they said it has physical damage to the inside of the TV. That was impossible because it had not moved the entire time I had it. Sony would not replace it under the 1 year warranty. I had also bought a 5 year extended warranty from Best Buy. They also refused to fix or replace the TV. I am furious with both companies. I buy a lot of stuff from Best Buy. I am at the highest level of their rewards program and even use the Best Buy Credit Card. No longer. I will shop there but buy at other businesses or on-line. I have already by passed Best Buy for an iPad and about to buy three cell phones and a replacement TV for the Sony. There is not a mark on the TV set and if the components can break inside without ANY sign of damage on the outside of the TV, it shows me that the set is poorly engineered with cheap parts. I showed a lot of loyalty to Best Buy over the years, too bad the feeling wasn't mutual.

Awful backlighting, terrible remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this Sony hoping for a premium 49” 4K experience, and initially things looked okay. Not great, but okay. Then I started to notice the lower right hand corner looked a bit brighter and washed out...after that I noticed a slightly darker upper right corner. Also distracting were the miserable viewing angles. Unable to ignore the problems at this price, I put the TV through its paces under a variety of dark background scenarios and discovered just how bad the problem really is: this is absolutely the worst backlighting I’ve ever seen on a tv, it’s cloudy and very patchy. Absolutely unacceptable at this price, I can’t believe they put this on the market. As if that weren’t enough, the remote is absolutely terrible, festooned with countless confusing buttons, some of which are unpleasant to touch, it is a counterintuitive mess and it’s big and bulky to boot. Avoid this TV, you’ve been advised. The attached photos should show a black background with a PlayStation logo.

Great tv ruined by start up menus
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a home theater system with a hub based remote. Why Sony put a start up screen on this tv is beyond me. It took several hours of searching through menus to partially disable the start up menus which require you to use their remote to get past it. Love the tv but hate what they did to its start up software. If you want a tv to seamlessly integrate with your hubs try a different brand. Sorry Sony (if you offered a disable option this wouldn’t be an issue)
