Bought this for ME! My son broke my older Sony Bravia over a year ago and now it’s finally time to buy myself something. I love his TV which is even a step up from the broken one I had.

Audio output issues never fixed

Despite software updates and troubleshooting, there are still audio output issues. I have a Sony stereo system for audio fed via HDMI from the tv. There is a delay in audio despite changing all options with the output and uding quality cables. I have to switch to TV speakers and back in order to shorten that delay, but there is still minor delay. A new problem just developed after a year where the TV won't default to the saved output anymore as it keeps reverting to the TV speakers. I had hoped for a nice setup with the Sony TV and stereo, but the audio issues make me wish i had returned it. I never had such issues with other brands while using the same stereo system.
We sincerely apologize that you are experiencing persistent and frustrating audio output issues with your BRAVIA 8 and your Sony stereo system. We understand how disappointing it is when two products from the same brand don't integrate seamlessly, and we regret that this is impacting your overall enjoyment.
The delay you described, and the new issue where the TV is reverting to internal speakers, sound like classic communication problems between the TV and the audio system (likely related to HDMI eARC/ARC and CEC/BRAVIA Sync).
To resolve these issues, we highly recommend performing the following detailed troubleshooting sequence:
1. Perform a Full Power Reset (CEC Handshake): - Turn off both the TV and the audio system. - Unplug both devices from the wall power, and also disconnect the main HDMI cable connecting them. Wait for 2 minutes. - Reconnect the HDMI cable, ensuring it is plugged into the eARC/ARC port on both the TV and the audio system. - Plug both devices back into power. Power on the TV first, and wait until it fully boots up, then power on the audio system.
2. Enable the BRAVIA Sync Device List: This ensures the TV is actively scanning and recognizing your connected Sony equipment.
- Using your Sony remote, navigate to: Settings > Channels & Inputs > External Inputs > BRAVIA Sync Settings > BRAVIA Sync Device List > Enable

Amazing TV, there have been some weird audio issues but Sony support has been great and has addressed it in the most recent update in February.

Overall the TV is nice, however it has some quirks. Half the time when I turn it off it won’t and I’ve found a workaround to sett the timer for 15 minutes and then it will turn off. Next it was very dark (picture) even after I tried adjusting brightness and after much playing around I found a setting that took it off of power saving and lightened up the picture. The Best Buy tech who was paid to set it up, didn’t do it right or really show me how to use it. It was after he left that I realized it. So be careful after paying the high price for delivery instillation.
