Sometimes, the TV turns back on after being turned off. Still trying to trouble shot this issue. It also shuts down while on pause despite tuning off the related functions in the setup menu.

It's awesome to hear about the great picture and intuitive Google TV interface of the Sony BRAVIA 8 TV. Sorry to learn about the power issues though, those can be frustrating. There are several potential reasons why your TV may be turning on or off unexpectedly. To ensure optimal performance, we strongly recommend downloading and installing the latest software update for your TV. If your TV turns on or off at regular intervals, such as 30 minutes to an hour, it's likely caused by power saving functions such as Idle TV Standby, On Timer, and Sleep Timer. If you haven't yet, follow the steps from the link below to make sure that the TV settings that can turn the TV ON or OFF at certain times or regular intervals are disabled.

Sound problem

The picture is great but sound is not so good.Spent days on menue and spoke to sony with no help to correct it. It gets worse when taping a show or streaming.Bought sound bar , it helped a little.

Excellent television

I'm glad I did. The picture is beautiful and I love the Google TV interface. Best Buy did an excellent job installing the televisions and receivers I purchased.

Main board failed in 7 months - part out of stock

The picture is very good, sound with built in speakers is OK, but good with Sony Bravia sound bar. The TV has turned off in the middle of watching perhaps a dozen times and won't come back on unless I unpug it, wait a while, then plug it back in per Sony's instructions That seems to reboot it and it works again for a while. Then in july 2025, 7 months after purchase the red light at the bottom of the tv started blinking - 3 blinks, a pause then 3 more blinks. It wouldn't turn on. I unplugged it to reboot it, but it still wouldn't come on. A google search said it was a hardware issue. Contacted Best Buy who wouldn't help because tv was still under warranty. Contacted Sony who diagnosed it as a main board failure. The ordered a new board and gave me the name of a local company who would repair it when the part came in. Then I got an email from Sony saying the part was on back order. A week after it quit working Sony says they don't know when the part will arrive - blamed it on the tariffs interupting supply chain. I have a Best Buy Total Protection Plan but BB won't help while Sony is trying to resolve. So my $1700 tv quit working after 6 months and we have been without tv for a week.

Best TV I’ve ever purchase’s

I absolutely love this tv. I had a former Bravia from 10 ish years ago that still works that I have and loved. I upgraded and bought a LG TV OLED 6 yrs back. We needed a bigger Tv for the new home living room and took the plunge on the Bravia 8. So much better than the LG in terms of use. My only complaint which was the same issue with the LG was dark movies/shows are hard to see on the picture during certain times of the day. Probably could play with the settings which I plan on doing soon.

Setup is a little tricky but just follow the on screen prompts. Printed instructions suck, and app is just ok. Would be nice to have a fully printed manual for this price.
