It was a great tv up to a year then a white line showed up in the middle of the tv ( permanently there). I was told the cost to fix it would be the same cost of a new tv (same model).

      Hi Luis,

Thank you for choosing and purchasing our A80K OLED 4K UHD Smart Google TV. This is definitely not the news that we would like to hear. if the white line issue still persists in the menu screen or different input. The described symptom may require further troubleshooting or a repair service.

Originally going to give it five stars, however, I found out after my return window that this TV doesn't support VRR. I later found multiple reviews and Reddit posters confirming the same. I have it on port four which supports VRR. I have VRR selected in external port setup. I have an HDMI 2.1 8K 48Gbps cable connected to it on port four which is one of two that support VRR. Connected to RX6800 graphics card (PC). If you plan on doing any gaming whatsoever, just go with LG. If you only watch movies/TV, get the Sony.

This is my 2nd Sony 65 inch LED TV in 1 full year. My 1st one stopped working, and this one has an orange light that keeps coming on by itself and is annoying and a pain in the you know what to figure out how to turn it off. Bottom line is I’m done with Sony tv’s after this one. There’s no button to push to see what time it is. Like on my 1st Sony. I think I’ll switch to LG after this one. Samsung sucks too. They develop white rings and little rectangle anomaly’s in the screen. I don’t recommend buying any Sony tv at all.

    Plenty bright and exceptionally vivid

The product description from the sales rep was perfect. He said the television I was looking at while at Best Buy Chapel Hill Akron, would make Ohio State’s scarlet look like marinara sauce. He said this television would make a Ohio State Scarlet look like Scarlet. Informative sales pitch and he was right. This is my third Sony and fourth HD TV. I have an original Sony 30 inch wide screen tube (the 200 lb. monster) which still works like new. All of them still work like new. This television had some complaints about not being bright enough, but I find it to be plenty bright, and sometimes too bright, I sometimes have to turn it down. The vivid setting is absolutely vivid and crystal clear. I run it through a JBL 5.1 sound bar. If I had a complaint, it would be that vivid is 5 to 10% too bright but I shouldn’t complain. This was a great purchase.

The A80K is the most affordable OLED television in Sony's 2022 Bravia lineup and the mid-range OLED across all their 2022 models. (Not every Sony TV is a Bravia.). It sits above their entry-level A75K and below the A95K QD-OLED. The price difference between a 65" A80K and the A95K is significant to the tune of (as of this writing) $1400. This is owing to the A95K's quantum dot OLED screen. I wasn't prepared to drop three grand on a TV and when I saw a geek squad certified open box deal that saved me almost $500 off the A80K's current asking price of $1800 - I jumped on it. And it's a great TV. The OLED display makes an absolute noticeable difference in picture quality and contrast compared to an LED screen - full stop. It comes the closest to reproducing those eye-popping visuals that you see played on the display models in Best Buy and other stores. You know - the ones that make you wonder "why can't my TV do that?" You can easily go down a rabbit hole of tweaking the picture settings, based on what you're watching or playing, for the best possible image and I will tell you that there is a learning curve to navigating the television's myriad menu options to get it humming with all the various devices you may have (AVR, game system, Blu-Ray player, etc.). There are a gazillion articles and videos online that can assist you - or lead you astray - and I've spent no small amount of time combing the internet for info on how to get "the most" out of the unit. OLED TVs are not for everyone and I've learned a lot since I purchased the A80K. If you can answer "yes" to any of the following - I would advise that you save some money and invest in a really solid LCD TV instead. - You leave your TV on all day in the background. Especially to a news or weather channel. - You plan on putting the TV in a brightly lit room with lots of natural light. - You like a really bright image. - You don't play video games. You don't need or really care about 4k content (no shame here - a lot of people DON'T) The OLED screen is a finicky beast. You don't want to leave a static image on it for too long because you can burn images into the screen - things like a news feed or sports ticker for instance. It is best meant to be viewed in a dim or dark room. Bright lights and sunlight are not your friend in this case. Also - due to the very nature of the OLED display - the light emitting diodes literally turn off and on to make the picture (this is how you get those amazing black levels and contrast) which results in a dimmer display overall than a lot of people are used to. There are some other features I would have liked to have seen that Sony - in it's infinite wisdom - did not provide. - There are four HDMI inputs on the A80K but only two support HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.1 is vital if you want to get everything you can out of current-gen gaming consoles (PS5 & Xbox Series X). If you have more than two HDMI 2.1 devices (I have both above listed consoles as well as an Apple TV 4K) then you either need an AV receiver that can support 4k / 8k / 120hz passthrough or one of your devices is going to take a performance hit because of the limited 2.1 inputs on the TV. Unless you are big gamer, this won't impact you much but I am so it's a sticky wicket for me. - Dolby Vision is locked at 60hz. This means that you can't game in Dolby Vision at 120hz. RIGHT NOW - that's not a big deal. Streaming apps only display video at 24hz and there are only a handful of video games currently available that offer gaming in DV @ 120hz. Still, LG offers it so I'm not sure why Sony doesn't. Also - moving forward - you are going to start seeing more media at 60 - 120hz in the next few years. And video games are even further ahead on that metric - so it's a bit of a future proofing issue - one that I wonder if they might issue a firmware update for at some point. - You can either have VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) OR Dolby Vision enabled but not both at the same time. I watch a lot of content in Dolby Vision and I like to have VRR enabled when I play video games. You would think this is an option the TV could automatically switch between but - no - you have to go into the menu settings and switch it manually based on what you're doing at the time. TLDR - The Sony A80K is an absolute visual upgrade over LCD screens. I feel like it's a very good choice for "my first OLED." OLED in general is not for everyone and some people may prefer the performance and durability found in LCD displays. Sony has made some inscrutable choices when it comes to inputs and Dolby Vision support but none of them are deal breakers for me. Now that the 2023 Sony models are out, you can probably score a good buy on a A80K.

Excellent OLED. Pros: 1- Dynamic color with OLED contrast 2- Good audio with audio actuators under the screen replacing traditional speakers. You don’t need a sound bar or an external audio system if your just using the set for casual viewing 3- GoogleTV interface is intuitive and relatively easy for content searching 4- Very thin bezel and thin depth makes mounting close to wall easy. (Using a Sanus tilt mount with this set in Master Bedroom) Cons: 1- Sony’s remote is definitely a downgrade compared to what was included in the previous A80J generation. It’s more akin to something you’d get with a Roku or FireTV. 2- ships with max brightness setting and power saving enabled… not the best settings for performance or longevity

Incredible picture quality and contrast level, even in brightly lit room. The input/output options are limited, as there are only 2 hdmi 2.1 and one of them is ARC. The remote is clumsy to use on the "smart" interface. No G-sync compatibility so not great for PC gaming, but supports gaming consoles just fine. Sound output is pretty good for TV speakers, as the entire panel is a sound transducer, but I have it plugged into the soundbar anyway. The build quality is typical of Sony standard - very good. Watching sports on this TV is a real treat.

I cannot honestly recommend this TV over the competition. Yes, image is fantastic. 100%. Yes, this TV has great sound on its own with a full panel audio system versus other options. Yes, GoogleTV is well beyond WebOS that LG offers. The negatives? How am I, a tech person not able to easily find a screensaver (Ambient Mode) timer? How am I googling the most basic of basic features an OLED should immediately address with the possibility of image burn-in? I built computers, do advanced 12v vehicle installs, yet cannot figure out its menus for setting up a screensaver timer?! In 2023. Sorry Sony, make better settings menus. I shouldn't have to Google search this simple of a a thing and still come up empty handed. Also, running HDMI 2.1 VRR off my gaming PC, audio cuts out after around an hour EVERY SINGLE TIME. Solution? Hold Sony Remote Power, Reboot TV. Select input. Sound comes back. Voila. Horrible for a $1900 purchase. Yes, this TV produces impressive images at 4k even streaming versus Blu-Ray uncompressed. Especially using Bravia Core with PureStream. It looks fantastic. But no, your settings are not user friendly. Sorry. LG C2 offers 4 HDMI 2.1 for VRR, has a heatsink to prevent image burn in, with a much brighter panel. Sony, 1 HDMI 2.1 VRR input, no heatsink. Sony A80K offers a better OS, GoogleTV, and has better sound out of box. I can't build a modern surround sound setup, these apartments would have the walls shaking for neighbors. No can do for Atmos. GoogleTV is in fact a super intuitive television OS. Beyond WebOS easily. But every time I game at 4k using my PC, I lose all audio after 1 hour and have to reboot the whole TV.... no way can I recommend this TV over the LG C2 or LG C3. I've rebooted well over 200 times in the past year when all I want to do is relax on my couch. It's incredibly annoying. I don't even use my PC on this TV any longer. This is a common problem apparently. My RTX 3080 is not the problem. The fact that the most basic menus are not straight forward? Nope, I cannot recommend this TV against the competition. I bought this TV about a year ago, on sale for $1800 from $2400 or so. I do enjoy the Bravia processing for movies and TV. It's solid. An MSRP $2400 65" TV should not have significant flaws. For this reason I recommend the LG OLEDs at this time. Sony, you have some great TVs, but you are simply behind LG for 2nd gen OLEDs. This review is after a year of use. You've given an a great experience inasmuch as a horrid experience. At a mid-level premium TV price point, 3/5 stars seems fair. Do your research, LG is best value for OLED.

The picture is so clear and the colors are very vibrant. The amount of colors are very apparent when compared to our last HD set, even my wife noticed and was impressed, and that is saying a lot. Scenes of a city lit up at night are unbelievable. Sound quality is about what to expect from tv speakers. Dialog is very average and a lower end Sony soundbar isn't much of an improvement except for a ton of bass. We do most of our viewing in the evening and with house lights on the brightness is great. We do have a lot of windows facing the screen and the tv could maybe be a bit brighter in the middle of the day, but is still very acceptable.

We've only had the Sony Bravia 63" for 5 days. It is by far the best tv we've ever owned. The design and construction, if you will, are sleek, extremely thin and finally, substantially built legs as to not worry if it tip over. LG made the screen and is top notch. The black pixels are so many that you seem to be in the scene. A torch burning passing through the woods by someone is exactly as bright or brighter as you would expect. You have so many options to resolve this type of brightness. For the skeptics, yes, the voices, music, animal or whatever sounds come through the screen. Crisp and clear. We connected the soundbar we already had with no problem and absolutely no change in the sound quality. There is a soundbar recommended for the Sony Bravia and we've decided not to purchase it. Although the Sonas has some great features, we don't like the fact that you have to use their app to use. That to me presents another host of problems. I'm sure you all can figure those out. We've put the latest ROKU on and it too works well, albeit the remote, it will not pair with the TV. We like the new ROKU as it's voice activated. Until and if we can pair the remote, we'll use the TV remote, which will switch us over to the ROKU. Lastly, be prepared to spend several hours the first day working with your Bravia to get some features fine tuned to your preferences. I'm sure the Geek Squad will be glad to help you but we wouldn't give anything for the time we spent on it. We know where to look and adjust! Every day, we find something new and You Tube has a plethora of information and how to's. Patience is a plus! Enjoy!

After about 10 years of service my Panasonic P55VT50 didn't wake up last week so time for a new TV. I picked up a 65" LG C1 and returned it. The LG was not bad. HD streaming from my Roku and PS5 gaming was quite good. I just couldn't get past the LG processing for the compressed comcast signal. It just didn't look very good on the C1. I'm not a Sony fan boy but after doing some research it seemed like the general consensus was that the Sony's processing and handling of the lower grade content was better so I decided to give it a try. I am glad I did. The 65" Sony A80K TV handles the cable signal much better than the C1. Much better picture while watching comcast. The picture with HD content is also slightly better on the A80K. I think it has better detail. I prefer the out of the box color on the A80K as well but again not by much and that is personal preference. Motion and gradient on the A80K are also slightly better then on the C1 (again the Sony processing). I also prefer the less glossy screen on the A80K as I think is handles glare slightly better. I realize this TV is about $900 more than the C1 right now and you'll have to decide for yourself if it is worth it or not. For me it was. I also realize that it is a little unfair to compare the C1 to the A80K. LG's new C2 is its true competitor but there is enough out there to conclude that the Sony's processing which was what was important to me is still going to be better than the LG C2. It isn't all good for the A80K though. A TV this price not to have 4 HDMI 2.1 slots is really unfortunate. This was a real miss from Sony as this was also a complaint on the A80J from last year. I'm not a gaming expert but it does seem like LG's are more gamer friendly. LG's C1 and C2 both have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports. You can get around the lack of 4 HDMI 2.1 ports for multiple HD gaming systems with a compatible 4k AVS receiver but with what you pay for the A80K you shouldn't have to and the reason I won't give this TV 5 out of 5. I don't care about the sound from TV speakers as I connect to an AVS receiver. I don't care about the TV operating systems as both were fine. Basically I disagree with many of the reviews out there. I think the picture quality of the 2022 OLED models is noticeably better than the previous 2021's currently on sale. The A80K's picture is absolutely gorgeous out of the box and worth the extra cost to me over last years LG C1. If you're a gamer or don't want to spend $2700 after tax on a TV the C1 is still excellent while on sale. I'm a casual gamer who puts a premium on picture quality which is why the A80K was better for me.

Amazing tv specially after doing the calman 20 point calibration to get accurate picture at D65 as well as a little more brightness than out of the box! Its almost identical to what you get in the A95K just a tad bit dimmer and ofcourse no heat sync but 10 out of 10 for me just wish it had the backlit remote.

I’m coming from TCL 55in 6 series 2018 day one, I love TCL TVs but last month on Christmas Eve my TCL started to die so started reading and looking for a new TV and came across the A80k mainly for gaming PS5 with me w tech in the Tv and man this was a very good purchase I went with the 65” and it looks beautiful. I choose the OLED because my living room in not lit but ambient light it’s dimly lit staid OLED just stands out beautifully. I recommend this Sony model absolutely especially for gaming GOW RG looks sick Elden Ring man and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart it’s just sick man if you have the money or if your credit is right get a Best Buy card and make the payments by month man build your credit and have a great TV for your entertainment.

Now that I’ve had this for several months I can say this is an excellent tv. Great for gaming on my ps5 and I even hooked up my pc to play some Xbox games. Most of the time I’ve spent on streaming and the google OS for the tv isn’t bad, sometimes a little laggy but clearing unused apps in the system helps a lot. The Bravia core is a great add on. I watched the two animated Spider-Man movies and they were absolutely stunning. Movies in general are just incredible to watch if you want the best picture quality for the price I’d recommend this TV to anyone.

The biggest knock on this tv is the limitation of HDMI 2.1 being on inputs 3 and 4. Coupled with having to pick between 4K120/VRR/Dolby Vision. If you game and only have a PS5, this is a non issue. Im a bit bummed that I can’t use dolby vision gaming with my xbox, but I think the movie watching experience more than makes up for this. Its fantastic and if you love watching movies, stop looking and just buy the A80K. I really struggled making a decision. All the way down to buying an S95B. That tv feels like it was a bit over hyped. It was good, but not drastically better than this sony. The sony actually handled movies way better and was the better movie watching experience. I could say alot more, but the end result is if you want an OLED, get the A80K for best bang for your buck
