Amazing Amazing Amazing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased This TV and returned it because of all the Z9D hype I watched the Z9D for two days and could not adjust it to look as good as this A1E so I drove 100 Miles to get the A1E back on my wall. The Sony Z9D is awesome but once you see the A1E There is just no comparison. Everyone in my home agreed that the A1E Picture was superior. The Sony Z9D was super bright but couldn't come close to matching the blacks and the almost WET looking graphics on the A1E. Both are Great but the A1E is the best in my opinion. Not here to start a Riot just giving my 2 cents because I have seen both TVs in my living room.

Stunning picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even without 4K content, this unit produces a spectacular picture. I’ve even purchased an Apple 4K TV and a trial subscription to DirecTV Now for some 4K content. I haven’t figured out how to determine when I have 4K content and I also can’t tell. More research to come. Before purchasing this unit, I wasn’t sure about the stand tilting the screen back at a slight angle. After a couple months of ownership, I can say not to worry. The only thing you need to be concerned about is any lighting behind your seating position as it will reflect in the screen. We have always turned these lights off in our kitchen. If you are in a smaller room with nothing behind you, no problem. Also I am sure that if you wall mount the unit, this will solve the problem as well. Expensive, yes. Worth it, yes.

Best of the Best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Short: Bought 65" from Best Buy. Best of the Best. Long: I have owned and currently own LG, Sony, and Samsung TV's. This one rises above all others. Technology- Sony uses an OLED panel sourced from LG, and then puts their amazing processor which takes the TV to a whole new level.(after all they build the playstation, which at the time I'm writing the review is the best gaming platform on the market, though at heart I will always be a Xbox fan due to the shape/feel of controllers.) Sony also installed speakers into the base of the stand including a subwoofer which vibrate the whole screen to project sound forward. OLED is amazing in itself that it can control the pixels of the tv individually allowing you to see true blacks because the pixel will turn all the way off, unlike LED tvs which still emit some form of light. Lastly, OLED technology has a better refresh rate that is more on par with the old plasmas produced and the panels should last long than your typical LED TV. Cons- If you're not wall mounting this TV it needs a bit of room to stand up, which in my opinion makes it look like a piece of art on an easel, but some will be confined in space. In that case just pay BestBuy a sum of about $200 and they'll come out to your house and do a guaranteed installation themselves. If contemplating with other brands then read this.... both vizio and samsung tried their own spinoffs of the OLED technology(Samsung QLED tvs, and Vizio XLED tvs). THESE ARE NOT THE SAME THING OR CLOSE. Vizio although cheap is not found to last that long and Samsung experiences light bleed to to their high brightness. Only thing on par is LG OLED and the SONY Z9D. The LG OLED while nice can not match the processor or sound technology that Sony incorporated. As far as the Z9D ....well its not an OLED.

Better Than I Expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Straight out of the box the TV is wonderful. Very clever design, simple to use and user interface a snap. The preset colors are "good" but if you really want "natural" color without the typical preset wow factor, I highly recommend you do a "pseudo-calibration" as per the following: http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/a1e/settings Simple to do, takes less than 5 minutes, requires no high tech gadgets and is just applying their findings through the menu. This TV replaced my long time favorite plasma ISF calibrated TV (the most natural colors I have ever had in any TV till this) and with these settings applied, the SONY, is by far the most natural and best picture I have ever seen. I will go on record and say, those settings make all the difference and takes a GREAT TV to EXTRAORDINARY levels. It's literally like watching a live feed. Obviously, 4K UHD looks amazing. The soundbar is as good as one can expect from something built in to the TV. I am very happy with my purchase.

The only thing that is negitive is the cost, but you get what you pay for in the end .

Picture quality is Stellar.... Android TV SUCKS!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture on this thing is stellar. All of the reviews saying that this has the best picture of any television ever is NOT an exaggeration. Good and deep blacks lots of picture controls to fine tune it the way you like. Can't say enough about the picture quality..... BUT THAT IS WHERE MY PRAISE ENDS. Let me just come out and say this strait up.... ANDROID TV SUCKS !! If you have to change channels or change apps on the android tv or watch anything in those apps or do something as low impact as adjust the volume, you are in for a BIG surprise. Everything is slow, everything lags, everything is glitchy. You can help this out by turning half of the "extra" features off, but that is of minimal help. To put a $3500 price tag on this, then put THAT operating system in it blows my mind. If it wasn't for the picture quality this thing would have gone right back to Best Buy.

Best TV I've laid my eyes on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is marvelous, even on non-UHD content that the TV has to upscale. Watching TV in a dark room has never been so beautiful with colors that immerse me in the movies and ACTUAL blacks and perfect shades of darkness and shadows that blew me away. (I had a Sony XBR850D, and comparing to those grey colors on dark screens, this is heaven!!!)

WHERE'S THE DOLBY VISION SOFTWARE UPDATE !!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally started off with a 65" LG B6 model and decided to return it once I learned SONY made an official announcement to include Dolby Vision via a software update. I shelled out over $5K for this TV with one of my motivating factors being the promise of DV. I've heard many complaints from others regarding topic so hope SONY comes through with this update soon. If for whatever reason SONY can make good on its promise.., can it promise to give a refund to those who purchased this TV!? Hope a SONY rep can respond to this post with some good news be it about getting DV soon, if not that, then about a refund. Otherwise, seems like false advertisement. I would have rated as 4.5 - 5 stars otherwise; unfortunately, feeling duped at this point.

WHOA!!! What an image!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rarely give 5 stars but this deserves it. Move over LG there's a new king. 4k image is stellar. Sound is amazing for a TV. What more to say. We buy TV's for image quality. This wins the prize. Check out this video on the apps and setup https://youtu.be/rJP3Cksd6ho

Best TV picture I have ever seen.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best picture and and sound I have ever seen and heard on a TV. Was a little worried that it might not be bright enough but it was fine. Gets bright enough when it needs to. Perfect black level really makes the colors look awesome.

Great Picture, OS needs a lot of work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is phenomenal but the Android Operating System is lousy. Apps crash on a regular basis. This would be a perfect TV if it had LG WebOS operating system. It's a good TV but Sony needs to consider ditching Android TV.

Great picture BUT all TV's have this defect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.THE BRAVIA SONY OLED HAD A DEFECT THAT IS NOT BEING MENTIONED. IN THE UPPER CENTER AREA OF THE TV THERE ARE TWO "DIMPLES" THAT MAY BE CAUSED FROM THE WAY THE TV IS CONSTRUCTED. I NOTICED THIS JUST AFTER THE TV WAS DELIVERED, CHECKED ALL THE ONES IN THE STORES LOCALLY AND THEY ALL HAVE THIS. VERY BOTHERSOME TO WATCH WHEN YOU KNOW THERE IS A DEFECT, NOTICABLE WHEN OFF AND WATCHING ANYTHING THAT HAS VERTICAL LINES, LIKE FOOTBALL ETC. IM RETURNING MINE NOW. IF SONY STRAIGHTENS THIS DEFECT OUT A WILL PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE. SAD!

Awesome tv for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this from Best Buy in January 2019. Has served me very well the last 3 years. Amazing picture. Awesome sounds even without a sound system. Uses the display as the speaker similar to bone induction headphones.

Best TV I have ever owned love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the Sony OLED 65" for 3 months. I love it, it is the best TV I had ever had. I get complements everyday on the beautiful picture. I waited to see if I should purchase a sound bar. In my opinion, no sound bar is needed. I am very happy with my purchase! It is expensive, but worth it if you want the best!

ABL is ruining what could be a GREAT T.V.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this T.V. for about a week now and initially I loved it. But I have found one horrible flaw that has ruined the viewing experience of this T.V. and will have me returning it for the LG C8 OLED T.V. The horrible flaw is the automatic brightness limiter that is built in the T.V. in which you have NO control over. I understand that all OLED t.v's have this feature in order to prevent burn in images, but Sony's ABL is WAY too aggressive. I watch mostly sports and when I was watching a baseball game, the other day, the picture to begin with, was absolutely breathtaking, but then, the ABL kicked in after a minute or two and the picture was noticeable MUCH darker. There is nothing you can do to make the picture brighter after the ABL kicks in except to exit from that program and start it over but even then, after a couple of minutes, it'll turn dark again. I have brightness set to max and peak luminance on high, but the ABL overpowers both of these settings. It's also not on eco mode and the light sensor option is turned off in the settings, so the t.v. should be at it's brightest at all times. From some of the research I have done online, it seems the aggressive ABL started with the last software update from Sony. There are many complaints, on the AVS forum, about how aggressive the ABL seems to have become since this last Sony update. You can google Sony A1E dimming defect on AVS forum to read the complaints for yourself. I hope Sony will address this issue with a future software update, but I can't be sure of that and can't take a chance with a $3,200 T.V. I am a BIG fan of Sony, but unfortunately, I'll have to be returning this T.V. The LG C8 also gets much brighter than the A1E is capable of. I'm not a big LG fan and would much prefer having a Sony, but the ABL is a deal breaker for the Sony. Go look in a Best Buy Magnolia store with the A1E and the LG C8 showing the same regular T.V. content (not the souped up 4K stuff) and see for yourself how much darker the A1E T.V. is even when it's set on max brightness and the LG is set on 50% brightness. The difference is HUGE between the two T.V.'s.

Outstanding
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony hits it out of the park again. The blacks are rich, the colors nice and natural. The only down side of this tv is the operating system, but once you get used to it, it's not that bad. Best TV i've ever owned.
