as always our Best Buy experience was excellent. We are not necessarily "tech savvy" but our questions were answered and the installers were both soooo patient with us and wouldn't leave until they felt sure we understood how to operate our new 65 inch TV and the sound bar

Great looking TV. The picture is excellent. My Xbox plugged straight in and looks amazing. I turned on 120hz on the Xbox and it worked right away. Just what I wanted! The gameplay is smooth and that's what I needed this for... I am using my Xbox Series X as a media center the media center, and digital antenna for the TV tuning, so I cannot speak to the quality of the applications nor their various trials at all. Keeping that in mind, this seems to be why the set up is annoying. I don't want Google, or the 10 other built in programs asking about me, I don't want them tracking my viewing habits, I don't want them suggesting ads. I also am not making an account for any of them... It's a TV, and it works *GREAT* as a TV. I want to be able to plug this in, set the input, and watch things or play games. Don't care for EULA's on my TV, sorry. Very recommended hardware wise. Software is annoying and wants way too much info.

Enjoying this tv a lot. The color is great the picture is a lot better then my old one. Set up was a breeze. The only problem I had was the WiFi and after I booted my router I haven’t had a problem. Has been great for watching sports can’t wait until ice hockey starts.

I am an older guy, play video games on Xbox Series S and watch movies and TV online. I needed a TV that would fit both my watching needs. I opted not to get the local dimming since most people just turn it off. For Xbox I needed HDR, 60Hz (the series X requires 120Hz), 4K, HDMI 2.1 and VRR. For my receiver I needed eArc through HDMI. For online TV and movies I wanted Google TV, with 4K HDR. So first consideration was how does the TV process video? Sony X1 processor is so amazing, smooth motion, no jitter or stutter. The picture is far superior to bargin TVs. Most TVs will look good in store with their demo running but performance at home will lack. The black is actually black not dark purple. Second consideration, will it keep up with 60fps on video games. Sony has a “game” mode that has what feels like to me zero lag from the controller. My games are smooth HDR play with superior color and vivid graphics, like nothing I have ever seen. Third ease of use, i wanted the UI to be simple. I used 4 remotes with my old setup, now it all works with one remote, perfection! The setup was not simple but it was only because i was not familiar to how Sony worked. Once everything was set up correctly I am so pleased as to all the advantages Sony put into its options and controls. I not only adjusted everything to look good enough but I was able to set everything exactly the way i wanted and expected the TV to work. I am totally a fan of Sony TV now, and would say if you want an upper midrange TV, look no farther than the Sony X85J!

There are instructions from Best Buy that tell you to put the legs on the TV when you take it out of the box. If you wall mount the TV, do not put the legs on. They are very difficult to take off, as there is no screw, but just a tab inside the TV towards the front you have to push aside to get the leg off. As a TV, it's decent. It's annoying that TV is just another app. If you watch 4K content, e.g., some Disney Plus movies, it's beautiful. If you're mostly watching satellite TV, it's a pain to have to reselect the TV app every time you turn the TV on. It also shows considerable banding in places like the sky that should be almost a solid color. 4 HDMI inputs can be used pretty quickly, e.g., satellite TV receiver, Roku stick, sound bar, Switch. Not much place to put older equipment such as a VHS player or DVD player. I have to keep my old TV just to connect these. Also a HDMI splitter would be useful. Setup is pretty easy and there are some convenient features, as long as you have an internet connection. I don't know if the TV is usable without an internet connection.

Picture is great regardless of what you're watching. Runs the Xbox series X perfectly with HDR and 4k/240hz. Only complaint is the speakers are a little meh. Would definitely recommend though.

Stepped up from a Sony 55 inch. Set up is easy, incredible richer colors. The sound out of the Tv is average, but I have it connecting to a home theater system.

Great quality tv. I was skeptical given it’s low-to-mid price point but it has exceeded my expectations for sure! Very clear and sharp image, very vibrant and great for sports. I spent hours looking through reviews before finally deciding on this tv and I’m glad I did. I primarily watch football/basketball and I must say, I’ve not seen a tv while watching sports that compares to this one, it’s great! I pulled up a YouTube video of nature in 4k to test the clarity, and was absolutely blown away, it’s awesome! Easy to navigate with easy to install apps. Don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed in this one!

Great TV so far. Picture is much more vibrant than my Samsung, and is quite uniform across the entire screen. It performs well in a bright room with several windows, but looks beautiful at night when it gets dark also. Excellent for the games I play on Xbox as well (RL, Fifa, etc) - no lagging or anything like that. Glad I didn’t get caught up in the reviews on YouTube, bc I would have missed out on an excellent TV. I expect I will get that proven Sony durability/longevity, but time will tell. P.s. Get the Polk sound bar to pair with this thing. You will be blown away.

After many months on deciding on a new TV, I chose this Sony. After having it for a couple of days now it is well worth it. Set up was super easy and the picture and sound are fantastic. I was a bit worried taking it out the box, but it is designed to make it very easy. And easy it was! The system it runs seems to be very smooth and with no lag time. I have a sound bar, but really the sound on the tv is so good that you do not need one. If you are looking for a good quality TV, the X85J Series is one I recommend!
