This is my first soundbar and am quite impressed!
My primary home theater system is a 5.1 Martin Logan setup.
After having these for +7 years, I'm very picky with sound and can never hear TV speakers or normal speakers the same.
I picked these up on clearance due to the newer model being released with Atmos support.
This is currently mounted on the wall under the TV in my bedroom.
Unfortunately, I cant notice the 7.1 sound (behind or height), as our bed is right against the wall.
Other than that, the sound quality on these is superb.
These are still absolutely killer speakers for listening to music (their primary purpose), watching youtube videos, netflix, movies, and playing games on.
The built in software and apps leaves much to be desired. However, Chromecast or any modern videogame console is usually used anyways.
Bluetooth pairing is very easy.
I plugged this into my Sharp TV via the ARC HDMI port, but noticed that I would not get sound when using my phone to stream to the TV.
I went through all options and read manuals for both TV and soundbar to no avail. Using the optical out from TV to soundbar fixed the problem.
Everything works as expected when plugging the PS4 into the input.

This is a very nice product for what it is. Sound quality is really nice but it isn't the big full sounds that literature likes to make it seem but it works great for the family room. The wireless sub sure is nice to not have wires to deal with.

I've a Samsung 3D TV (2014). I was going to buy a Samsung product. But after reading online reviews and its support for 4k (future ready), more bass, more watts, I decided to buy the Sony product. The installation was breeze. I connected my set top box, Xbox, Roku to it and a single HDM1 goes to my TV. The remote is smaller in size. After setting up, I connected it to my network through a LAN cable (supports WiFi connectivity also). It prompted me to get the latest firmware. After 10 minutes, It was ready. It has enough boom but I do not want to break my windows. I had to set up my Comcast box to send output in Dolby mode if available. Roku sends PCM only. I also configured TV to send the original sound to it. I did not mount it. Switching off TV also switches it off. The clear sound mode is good for listening TV shows. I watched Avengers Ultron in movie mode with full woofer and it was a great movie theater experience. However, the music sounds mostly like stereo, lacks the punch and clarity. Since, I;m not that much into music, so it is ok for me. Only one time the woofer was not able to connect to the main sound-bar, I had to reboot the whole system. I bought it in November for 1500 and during the black Friday week, it was 300 cheaper. I went to the store and they price matched it. Overall, good for a mid sized room.
Pros:-Great sound, fast and easy installation. supports 4k. Bluetooth. ample HDMI options in the back. supports USB. Great android/ios app.
Cons:- Bit expensive. Changing sources (e.g. from xbox to Roku) takes many presses on the input button and it is not fast. Not energy efficient. Lack of on/off button on soundbar.

This soundbar is great, the sub is a bit big but provides more than enough bass. Adjustable sub volume is nice so I can easily switch between movies and TV shows. A home screen so you can easily switch between inputs and online music, or Bluetooth. Supports all high end audio and is 4K proof with HDCP 2.2 out put. the actual 7.1 effect wont be as effective depending on the size of the room though. Overall, a worthy investment.

Upon bringing this soundbar home and connecting it I was in love. This little bad boy along with the subwoofer pumps out great sound and bass; made my windows and various other things around my house shake/tremble. Using the ARC connection method, the soundbar has its own on screen menu to select which HDMI port you want (cablebox, PS4, or other). This sometimes get glitchy while watching tv through my cablebox and automatically goes back to the screen menu with USB selected. Not sure why, I don't have anything connected to the USB port. Bringing up the home screen to switch to another HDMI port can sometimes be very slow; one method around this is switching HDMI ports via your smart phone (after you download the app). Another thing that's quite annoying is depending on the timing of the tv and soundbar turning on, sound will come from both causing an annoying echo. My Sony smart tv will normally detect the soundbar and switch sound to there; however sometimes it doesn't and we get the echo. I have a feeling this is an error on my part. In order to minimize the number of remote controls, I programmed my Comcast remote to power up the cable box, tv, and soundbar all from the same button. This might confuse the tv on where to direct the sound. Also, I didn't really like the sound quality while playing music from my phone via Bluetooth. Gave a grainy, AM radio type of sound. But I just play music from my Pandora app on my smart tv and that sounds great.
Overall, its a great soundbar! Can't say I was happy with the price though, but I guess you get what you paid for.

This is a good sound bar equipment, delivers a very good value proposition. It is very easy to install, works very well and the quality of the sound is very good.
It has good features that differentiates the product from other competitors. How easy you can connect your smart phone to play your music, how easy you can connect Spotify, how easy you can use it as an entertainment product without having to turn on the TV.
In my opinion the price is high versus other options, but definitely is a good product

I bought this system to match my 75" 910c. I have a 19'x15' living room and hated the idea of running wires but wanted an awesome home theater. I also wanted a 4K compatible, future proof with 60fps pass through. Something the Bose won't do yet. So don't waste your money.
Setup is super easy, plays nice with Sony products. It comes on and turns off through ARC. Do yourself a favor and get a Logitech universal remote.
This system is capable of being super loud, the bass isn't overwhelming for music, but can be thunderous for movies. I rarely need to turn it up past half way.
The quality all comes down to your input source. Xfinity sounds pretty good, when I played Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation on Amazon Prime, it sounds amazing. Super clear, lots of thunder and crisp. Netflix is pretty soft. Blu ray is equally amazing. 2.1 PCM sounds best coming from my sources, but it's a personal preference.
I was able to get mine open box, the $1500 price tag was a little much, but after testing it out for a month I would probably pay full price if I had to. The only thing that would be a better setup IMO would be tower speakers with main amp, center and satellite speakers, but you're back to running wires.
This system won't do wireless rear speakers like the Sonos, you don't really need them anyway. Movie2 sound field simulates a surround, not perfect but enough for me.
Enjoy!!

I originally was going to get the Sonos sound bar but the price was not in my budget. I ended up with the Sony soundbar and couldn't be happier with my decision. This Sony provides movie theatre sound and was easy to install. The sound bar does not come with wall mount so you'll need to buy a universal mount or do as we did which was get L brackets in order to hang it on the wall due to it being to heavy to hang with just screws as they recommended! The L brackets work perfectly and provides a sturdy placement for the soundbar!

My first time with the sony sound bar it sounded very good in store got it home and set up was easy, I got this system to replace a Bose system and glad I did. The surround sound is great I can hear things on the side of my couch and even behind me. This is a bit pricey but worth every cent. I would recommend this system to everyone.

I purchased this with a 65" Sony 4K television after a Vizio M series 4K would not power on after three weeks of use.
This soundbar delivers good range with crisp highs decent midrange and powerful bass. The issue is that it is somewhat meh for movies. The Vizio 5.1 40" soundbar was a better all around performer for 5.1 content and just as good with regular tv content. It was not as strong with music (but also costs nearly $1000 less).
The faux surround sound is poor. If you are looking for that, bose makes a similar priced bar which is better. If you have room for two small surround speakers, Vizio. If you will listen to music through blutooth, this is good, however you must listen to the definitive technology bar.
Writing this review just confirmed that I should have taken this back, but I was stubborn and kept it to match with the tv.

Easy set up and good sound. The best part is how easy it is to use with Soundplay and how it actually has a better mirro casting function then the 850c tv we have, allowing my tablet to stream via the sound bar to the TV with no hassle. Expensive I admit but a great piece of tech.

Love it, got it hooked up to a Samsung flat screen and there have been no compatibility issues. Easy to use and sounds great. Woofer really makes you feel the sound as well. Only minor down side is the remote has unnecessary buttons that can make it a little confusing. Really just need the power, sound band, woofer volume, and main volume. the dozen or so other buttons are not needed.

This Soundbar is fantastic for watching movies. Listening to music could have a little deeper/warmer sound, but overall this soundbar has been a great addition to the bedroom. The sub is not over powering either and adds the perfect amount of bass. Very happy with this purchase so far.

The sound is great from this system but switching between functions is clunky. You have to scroll through each input until you get to the one you want. Should be able to just jump to the correct input like other items. Also found an issue that the system is not even supported with a Sony TV yet. Sony is working on it but I was shocked to hear that.

The sound quality of the system is great and has many different sound field settings. We bought it for a large open living room and it fills the space perfectly. The only negative is that the system requires updates. When I got it set up and ready for an update it could not download the file. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Sony customer service but still couldn't get the system to update.

I did much research b4 purchasing the ST9. One thing that sold me was the HDMI in ports for all my devices. The ST9 has great sound for a sound bar. Of coarse it does not come close to my Polk audio system on my other setup. Know what you are buying - for a soundbar this is as good as it gets. My only negative is the firmware is a little glitchy at times requiring a reset.

I bought this soundbar with my Sony TV. Wonderful sound and love wireless subwoofer. I didn't want alot of speaker wire in the room and this fits the bill. The only con I have is that sometimes the soundbar will change to TV speakers for no reason. Great sound. I would recommend this soundbar.

Good bass from the subwoofer. Not completely happy with the different sound modes. E.I. MOVIE, MUSIC, STANDARD, ETC. There is a difference between the modes, but it's not hitting what I'm looking for every time, sound wise. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a sound bar. It doesn't compare to surround sound.
