Glad I purchased this Monster!

I waited a few months before writing this review so I could get a feel for this set. I'm impressed with the 98 Bravia 5. It turned my Fan Cave to a home theater. This TV is huge coming from a 65.. I thought the black level was going to be terrible compared to the Oled but the black levels are excellent. The tv only have one flaw, Sony should improve the anti reflection quality of the screen. In a way this set is so big than the reflections get lost most times especially in bright scenes. I installed some theater lighting that's dimmable they help a great deal. When viewing movies tv shows and sporting events in the dark it's crazy good. All in all I love this TV. I only have one suggestion the wall you hang this TV on paint it black and or a very dark color. When you guys see my photos that black wall makes my gear and LCR speakers almost disappear.

Incredible tv

Sony picture quality is unmatched and can also do Split View while playing the game as well still a lot to learn and settings, but this tv is absolutely just incredible.

It’s Nice, It’s Big But…
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I still have my reservations, I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now and… I’m not really sure how I feel about it honestly. It’s huge and it feels the space supremely but the picture quality is still pretty up in the air and hit or miss. I mainly stream YouTube TV and that may be my problem but sometimes I get a wonderful picture and sometimes it’s just a little dull and fuzzy. Brightness leaves a lot to be desired as well but if you put on a high definition full 4K formatted movie a show like on Netflix or Prime Video and then you get a very high level output from this thing. It’s much better from distances I would say considering I watch it mainly from my kitchen opposed to sitting on my couch in front of it. Basically… I’m still kinda torn on it but obviously it isn’t that bad because I haven’t returned it yet. PS5 looks awesome too so if you want BIG and to fill in a lot of space, this is an option

Since such a massive display can easily expose the lower resolution of apps like YouTube TV, we recommend turning off Power Saving and the Light Sensor in your settings to immediately boost the brightness and eliminate that "dull" look. For the "fuzzy" picture, try setting your Picture Mode to Standard or Vivid when streaming cable content, as this adds extra sharpening and "pop" to help lower-quality signals look crisp on such a large canvas. We hope these quick tweaks help you finally fall in love with your new BRAVIA!

Get a little glare during the day but where it really shines is at night in a dark room feeding it a high resolution source. Added a Sonos Arc Ultra which was a big plus. Best Buy install was painless. I wouldn’t want to try it on my own.

The 2 inches does not make a difference. High sense is very bright and the color is very bright. Sony is not as bright as the high sense but the color is more natural and more sophisticated. The color is more natural like you see in the movie theater.

I didn’t want to wall mount so finding a stand was difficult, but Salamander Synergy 245 works perfect. Sony’s excellent processors also make all menus smooth and fast, which is why I went with Sony versus other brands.

Amazing 98” TV

I am lucky enough to own this 98” Bravia 5 and an 85” Sony Bravia 9 for comparison in a different room. The picture quality is almost as good as the Bravia 9 (latest model) even at this gigantic size. It is phenomenal. If you have the space for it, it’s a great tv.

Best Sony TV yet

The pixels get so dark they look like they’re off, and the glare from white on black is almost unnoticeable. If you were to put this TV side by side to a 24’ Bravia 9, you wouldn’t be able to tell this is a Bravia 5. I have the brightness set to 60 and yet it still lights up the whole room no problem. 10/10 would recommend.

Bad Best Buy experience

Store experience poor. 2 issues, one of which was finally resolved, one never resolved. Price and free installation. Best Buy team couldn’t figure out how to honor price online, said they would call back, never did. Had to come back in twice to finally meet with GM who honored pricing but wouldn’t honor installation clearly represented on the ad. All I was expecting was online ad to be honored. See photo below-“free installation”….team did not honor because it was “open box”. Ad clearly shows free installation next to open box.

An amazing picture and in-home experience for movies, sporting events, music videos! We mounted it on our stone fireplace above the mantel. While 98" seems super big in the store, when it got installed by Best-Buy on the recommended brackets, it looks just right! (We did have reinforced wood installed where the TV was to be mounted and no stone in this area since the fireplace was recently built.) We have been using it without any additional speaker system and it sounds good! The image on the bigger screen is crystal clear without any blurriness. Highly recommend this product for that in-home theater experience without the huge ticket price of some of the 98" + TV's on the market!!

Giant 98” Sony TV

It connected to my Denon receiver with no issues. Sound management, screen management is straight forward. Day or night, the image is clear and smooth. So far no glitches. I use Playstation 4 to play movies, games. Sound and connection are flawless. Price is high. I was considering a throw-back projector which would have given me another 20 inches of screen. I went with Sony because setting it up and installation was a lot easier than a throw-back projector. It was also cheaper and because the TV is a Sony, it will likely last longer than any projector in the market (I still have a 40 inch Sony that I have used as a monitor that I bought 20 years ago). I also want to mention that I could have not done it without the GEEK SQUAD team who installed, offered advice and recommendations that were really valuble. To install this type of TV, you will need a solid frame to hang it from your wall and two people. Paying the GEEK SQUAD services it was well worth it.
