Definitely an upgrade over the base dual sense in almost every way. The back paddles are a game changer for certain games, specifically competitive FPS’ and souls-likes. Button remapping is extremely helpful for certain games as well. Replaceable joysticks haven’t come into play yet, but I know they will if I do run into stick drift in the future. Only downside is that the battery life is worse than the base dual sense, which can be quite annoying for longer gaming sessions, but I think it’s worth it for the upgrades.

The DualSense Edge wireless controller is Sony's new high-end, customizable PS5 controller aimed at hardcore gamers who want more control options. I recently had the chance to test it out, and here are my thoughts.
Design & Build Quality
At first glance, the DualSense Edge looks very similar to the standard DualSense PS5 controller. It has the same basic shape and layout. However, upon closer inspection you can see some key differences. The handgrips have a textured pattern for enhanced comfort and grip. The triggers and bumpers are also made of metal for improved durability. Overall the build quality feels extremely solid and premium.
The real magic is in the modular, customizable components. The back buttons are removable and different shapes and sizes can be attached. You can really customize the feel and location of the back buttons to suit your specific needs in a game. There are also adjustable stick caps and swappable stick modules with different heights and shapes. With all the customization options you can finely tune the controls to your exact preferences.
Performance & Features
In terms of core performance, the DualSense Edge works flawlessly. The haptic feedback and adaptive triggers feel just as great as on the standard controller. The analog sticks have a taller shaft and extended range of motion thanks to the swapable modules. This allows for precise control and quicker movements in shooters or action games.
Some great new features include the ability to save multiple control profiles for different games and switch between them easily. There are also physical profile swap buttons. The new Fn button allows you to quickly adjust settings like stick sensitivity, trigger activation points, and headphone volume without going into menus.
The DualSense Edge also has a built-in software hub where you can remap buttons, assign macros, adjust stick deadzones and sensitivities, and really dig into the granular settings. It's very robust and makes the customization process easy.
Verdict
The DualSense Edge takes the excellent base PS5 controller and adds a wealth of customization and control options for hardcore gamers. The ability to tweak every aspect of the controls is incredibly granular and allows you to optimize the feel on a per game basis.
The premium build quality and added features like profile switching and software tuning make the DualSense Edge a must-have accessory for competitive players.

The DualSense Edge is great gaming controller. The DualSense Edge has many gadgets in a great packaging. The DualSense Edge has many pros with one minor con. The DualSense Edge feels great with amazing back buttons, great way to swap analog stick modules in case one starts drifting, and analog trigger stoppers. The DualSense Edge case comes with two interchangeable thumbsticks, two back buttons, and a braided type c cable. The DualSense Edge also allows you to create custom controller profiles through your PS5 or your PC. The only con is unfortunately the battery of the DualSense Edge is honestly terrible. Is not a big deal for me personally because I've gamed for a while with cable controllers but I can see how this is a deal breaker for someone else. Overall I honestly believe the DualSense Edge is the best choice for PS5 owners. For PC owners it's a great choice

Out the gate this is the best controller for PS5 hands down. The look and feel is great, the cord is plenty long, The paddles are great and responsive and the trigger gates are good (I do not use them a ton). The highlight of this controller of course is the SWAPPABLE thumbsticks. The biggest issue with most controllers at some point are stick drift and being able to swap them out for $15 is a huge win on a controller of this price.
Which brings me to the next topic... PRICE... It is over priced honestly. I feel that at the $150 mark it would be the perfect spot for it.
The battery life is something that a lot of people complain about I however use it wired at all times so I cannot speak on that issue but it is an issue I would say. So definitely check out videos and reviews on it.
Lastly if you are using this with you PC be prepared to have some workarounds.... Especially if you are using it outside of steam. You MUST set this up on the console first. It needs to update as well as setting up your custom onboard profiles for the paddles, joysticks etc. This does not plug n play with any launcher. It isn't even recognized in Battle-Net. On Steam it does work however it only shows the Xbox button layout. There are some apps you can run to try and get the PS layout and to be able to edit your paddles etc. But in my few experiences they were very buggy and laggy. All the while the regular PS5 controllers are plug n play so Sony... PLEASE address this!

I was on the market for a new controller it was either this or a scuf gaming controller I’ve had the scuf before but in comparison of the two the dual sense edge didn’t feel like it was a second hand made controller. even with the paddles and all the extra hardware it felt much better than the scuf it didn’t feel cheap. the quality of the controller is amazing the options in terms of the paddles as well as adapting the travel distance of your triggers is a huge W not only that the fact that you can replace the joy sticks when you come across that annoying stick drift is a huge win as well. Sony definitely knocked it out of the park with this one it has immense capabilities compared to any other controller. you can take things even further by adjusting the behavior of your controller in the menu screen and the reaction time of your triggers overall the dualsense is in a different level.

If you’re looking for a reliable high performance controller, look no further. This is coming from someone who has owned TWO scuff controllers and both have broken while being only a year in of using them. This was a lifesaver and well worth the money imo. My scuffs both ran me about 250+ just for consistent malfunctions. This controller comes with extra sticks so you don’t have to throw the whole thing away when you get stick drift. Durable charger, durable case, amazing back paddles, amazing front paddles that offer shortcuts & soooo many other great features no other controller offers. So glad I found this one, best bang for your buck!

The DualSense Edge is easily the most impressive controller I’ve ever used. It takes everything I already loved about the original DualSense — haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, comfortable grip — and turns it up to 11 with customization, precision, and performance.
The interchangeable stick caps and back paddles give it that pro-level edge for competitive play, and the ability to save custom profiles means I can switch from a fast-paced shooter setup to a relaxed RPG layout in seconds. The build quality feels premium — solid, responsive, and balanced in the hands. Even the braided USB-C cable and included case make it feel like a serious upgrade.
Is it worth the price? Absolutely — if you’re serious about PlayStation gaming, this is a game-changer. Sony finally gave us a high-end controller that matches the power of the PS5.

So far the controller is excellent! There are several accessories so you can tailor your experience. My favorite is the back buttons! The battery does go dead quick but it comes with a long cord for charging.

Great controller. Does everything I need, have had for a few months now and still going strong. I’ve seen reviews about the underside material becoming stained or wearing down with extended use. I see where this could be an issue down the line, but haven’t noticed anything yet. Luckily you’re able to swap parts with a more durable piece, to my understanding.
Took off one star because the battery life is comically bad. But Sony was obviously aware of this, so an XL charging cable that locks into the controller port is included in the box.
I would recommend this controller to anyone who plays competitive shooters / loot games.

This a great controller! It does have the option for settings on the triggers with trigger stops. I do like the two back paddles. My Elite Series 2 has 4 and honestly only use 2. The other plus that I like about the controller is the option to remove the joystick module. I have had controllers with bad stick drift and would replace the entire controller. Now we can easily change just the joystick instead of the whole controller.
The case is nice as well to store your controller and all the extra accessories
The one negative I have to give is the battery life. Yes i know we can plug in the controller but sometimes its nice to be completely wireless. If you prefer to be always plugged in, there is a usb lock included to prevent the cord from coming loose.

My first PS5 Edge controller. I do love it but it has a few areas for improvement.
1. Battery life isn’t horrible but it is definitely noticeably less than a standard controller due to its smaller battery.
2. Get rid of the rubber on the inside grips. Mine came with a bubble and I expect them to water quickly.
3. Add some color options!
Other than that it is a great controller. Replaceable joysticks, extra mappable buttons on the back that feel good, and even more fine tuning software support exclusive to this controller. Pretty sweet.

Hands down one of the best controllers I’ve ever owned, read reviews, watched videos on multiple ones everyone said it was the best, went on got myself one & let me say it’s been about a month or so & I haven’t gotten any stick drift, it’s the smoothest controller I’ve owned, it feels like a premium controller. Considering you can replace the stick modules is a plus but also best buys protection plan also covers a full replacement if ever broken so that’s a big plus too. Overall I’d recommend this controller along with the protection plan

If you want the best version of the DualSense, this is it. It's not 1:1 on par with the lower priced, and a better value, Xbox Elite S2 controllers. Still, having back paddles on this form factor actually feels better with the sticks lower as PlayStation has them traditionally.
I wish there were 4 paddles and allowed for more customization at this price. The big negative is the battery life. Compared to my Series 2 controller I use with my PC, it's 4 hours versus 40. That's comical. It should be considered a hybrid controller that you can expect to plug in if you forget to plug it in or work in a couple of sessions without a full charge between. Keep that in mind! Now, if I ever have stick drift, I can be confident that this controller won't have to be replaced - just the sticks.

I bought it for my husband, he's a hard-core call of duty player (just for fun) and he loves it!! The original controller already broke, this looks super steady, grippy, and of course customizable! I think it's pretty cool that you can set 5 profiles depending on the person or the game you are playing. The cable doesn't feel cheap, and i like the case. Pretty nice!

This controller has helped me so much in FPS games and arc raiders. The ability to switch out the joysticks and the thumb stick hight had been awesome!

A steep price, but it's the last controller ill ever need.
I like the the extra buttons you can program on the back. They replace my L3 and R3 pressing, and just make it easier to use those buttons.
The wired mode is convienient, as I dont need a wireless for my set up and dont need to worry about my controller dying.
I also like the volume control through the controller, and adaptive triggers. It makes switching from different game types, fast and easy.

This controller is amazing. I was having problems with my regular PS5 controller constantly disconnecting because the cable didn’t lock in, But now no connection issues and I’m finally having fun again with the games I used to enjoy on pc. Feels more durable, has Good weight to it, And eventually, when I get stick drift, I’m not spending a ton of money. I could just change the joysticks. 10/10
