This is a top-quality product. Easy to set up, easy to operate.
A very good DVD player for a reasonable price.

Have been purchasing Sony products for years, this small dvd player has stood up to my expectations.. My daughter uses it on her dresser, very easy to access, and compact, the remote has many features that also allows you to repeat a disk, or even just part of a scene, which is helpful when a child likes to review a specific chapter or even just a part of it.. Also has the option to continue a movie where you left off, even after powering it down..

Super easy plug and play process!!! Smaller than I realized but superb quality. Great feature is that it has a memory of where you left off, especially helpful when you are watching a box set. As long as you do not remove the dvd, just power it on and it will start right where you left off! it is certainly a great buy!!

I bought this to replace a Samsung Blu-Ray player that did not work any more ( would not even turn on !)
It was an easy set-up....and it worked the first time I put in a DVD.
The 'up conversion ' is a nice surprise.....the picture fills my 42" screen.
Since I have a 'smart TV' ...all I needed was a good DVD player and this fits that bill.

It is definitely a no-frills piece of equipment. If you're a consumer/ user who likes LCD display on your player, this is not the model for you. Otherwise, the image/ pixilation is very good; the remote is easy to maneuver with (although sometimes there's a lag factor with the tray open/close) the player. Although here, some may find an issue: This model is VERY remote-dependent. Maybe I've been out of the market for awhile, but my last purchase at least allowed manual input.

I needed a new dvd player & didn't want to spend a fortune since it doesn't get alot of use. This Sony model fit the bill, easy set up & unconverts too. For under $50 this is a good buy. Only complaint is there is no light which indicates it's on, but from reading other reviews that seems to be common now with other brands too

This is my 1st smaller size DVD player. The other player was a SONY and lasted 23 years!
This SONY is easy to use with understandable remote.
I also notice a wider range of directing remote toward the DVD player. No exact positioning of the remote to DVD player is required. If you think of a clock, the DVD player is at 12 and where I sit is about 3 on the clock. The player responds well to remote.

I finally had to replace my ancient dvr player. This Sony dvd player is compact, easy to set up, and easy to use. I think it is well priced for the excellent quality.
Fairly good quality standard definition DVD player

The SONY DVP-SR510H has quite good video (I'm using at the moment the composite video connection); haven't tried the HDMI output yet) and audio. Audio is especially robust and detailed on CD's, with considerable presence. Machine runs quietly -- only a barely perceptible motor noise which can only be heard if you put your ear almost on top of the machine.
The reason for 4 stars:
1. NO DISPLAY PANEL. That seems to be a thing of the past with DVD and most Blu-Ray players, unfortunately. Display panel is not quite so necessary for playing DVD's but with CD's you really do need a display with track number and elapsed time, otherwise you don't know where you are on the CD. And I'm certainly not about to turn on the TV to find out. I have an NAD CD player for redbook CD's and a Yamaha BD-S681 (with a display panel!) for redbook CD's and SACD's, as well as outstanding Blu-Ray video, so I don't need the SONY for CD's.
2. Machine is light-weight and somewhat flimsy. The buttons on the machine only respond to a heavy-finger touch that tilts the front end of the player forward and shoots the rear end up in the air.
The machine looks elegant, definitely not like cheap junk, but it's rather small and seems like David to the BD-S681's Goliath.
However, despite the dislikes noted above, I can recommend the SONY DVP-SR510-H. It's about as good as you're going to get these days for standard definition DVD players, and for around $45, the video and audio quality are truly amazing. It's an acceptable bargain for the money.

This is the 3rd Sony 5110 DVD player I've bought in the last four years. You really receive more bang for your buck with this model than any other one I've seen on the market. It's incredibly simple to use & the remote (on the small side) helps make it that way. A very excellent product at an unbelievable price!

Sometimes you just want a small DVD player that is fairly portable. This one is a good size, fairly inexpensive, and still gives a good DVD picture quality. I also chose this one because it had component and HDMI output, so it is more flexible to match what input the TV has -- for example in a hotel room, cabin, etc.
