    Best RF Wireless Over-The-Ear Headset

I use these headsets for listening to the TV while having the TV volume off or muted. I have owned 6 other previous model Sony RF Wireless refurbished headsets and they have all been the very best RF headsets I have ever tested or owned. I still use some of the older models around the house and have gifted others to friends who have all come back and thanked me. The stereo audio quality is outstanding and without any hiss or pop. The wireless transmission distance is so good that I can wear the headsets around the house without loosing reception. The battery life is an excellent minimum of 12 hours under constant use even after a year of use. Replacement lithium battery packs are inexpensive , easy to replace and last for a few years of daily charges. The over-the-ear cushioned pads are comfortable and do a good job of outside noise cancellation. The one complain I have is that the earpads do wear out and the outer layer starts peeling but that is very common with most headset earpads under long-term use and I use these headsets most of the day, every day. The good news is that I have purchased replacement earpads, installed them myself and have extended the life of these headsets for years. Another salient feature is the ease of charging the headsets because you can practically close your eyes and drop place the headset in the charging cradle. Connection to your TV or other media device is so simple with the included standard 3.5mm male stereo mini plug cable or by using the included 3.5mm stereo female mini jack to 2 male RCA Plug Adapter Audio Y Cable (Red/White stereo audio). Buy these headsets for someone with hearing problems and let them turn up the headset volume without having any volume on the TV speakers. Buy these if you want to watch TV late into the night while others are sleeping or buy them to finally hear every sound and every word of a TV show/movie and feel like you have your own private sound system you never realized that you were missing. After many years of using Sony RF headsets, I just can't watch TV any more without them on and neither can my wife.

I thought the item was a headset but it's compatible with TV. If you are looking for a personal space and want to enjot a game while your kids are making noises and your wife started a mixer, then I recommend this product.

Great TV Headphones that connect EASILY

I really like these Sony WHRF400 RF Wireless Headphones because I got them refurbished (great price) and they seemed brand new, and because I usually use a lot of BT headphones (have like 4-5 different pairs), and they take time and patience to get them connected. With these RF Headphones, you just pull them off the charger, turn on the power switch and boom, they are connected. No hassle, no delay, no multiple attempts, and accidental connections to another device, in another room, you forgot it had been connected to before. None of that, just grab them, turn on and almost instantly you have perfect sound coming from you TV or Computer (I'm using on my Computer in my Office). They sound good, they have clear sound, and enough bass. They're not bass heavy, but they definitely have enough bass to sound very good. I watch movies often times at night and I use these headphones to have theater like sound, but without disturbing anyone else in the house. I really like that you can actually replace the batteries, if rechargeable battery gets weak. I think mine came weak, so I don't get a full charge (should operate for like 10 hours or so - think mine only work like 4 hours), but I just plan on buying some new fresh batteries for it, and I should probably double my listening time or more. They are comfortable, look great, work great and I'm very happy with them. I use them almost every day, and love how easy they connect without any hassle. If I had to compare my really good Skull Candy BT Headphones and these, for sound quality. I would give the edge to the Skull Candy BT headphones, but I think that is an inherent issue with RF Technology, not so much the quality of the speakers on this RF400 headphones. FM radio, even in a car, has less depth to it's sound, and tends to have less Bass. If you had the same song on CD and on the FM Radio, the CD would have better overall (richer) sound, so that's how it is with RF headphones too. But, it still sounds fine, and totally acceptable, and the convenience of instant connection (grab and go) is worth it for sure! 4 stars only because I think my battery was old (can't hold a real long charge) and because there is a little noise (crackling, static, etc) here and there (every once in a while - not bad). Overall, range away from the Base Station is pretty good, and static/noise is minimal. It's definitely worth the convenience these things offer any day of the week over Blue Tooth (BT)

These arrived looking exactly like new -- I wasn't sure what to expect with refurbished. The sound quality seems very good to me. A clear, nuanced sound for voices (I only use them for watching shows so I have no view on their quality for music). My hearing isn't excellent, and I'm able to hear everything that's said while using these, unlike when I watch TV without them. The minor issues I have: 1. Static occasionally (as I write this I've had no static for a week), that usually lasts for a few seconds at a time, for about a minute, and you can hear what's being said through it. Once, the static was bad enough to block out some of the words. When this happened I changed the channel on the underside of the charging base (there are 3 channels), then pressed the Auto Tuning button on the right earphone. 2. When starting to use the headphones there is a 2 to 3 second delay before the sound comes through. And you may need to turn them off and then on (via the on/off switch on the left earphone) to start the process. TIPS They're easy to set up, just plug the charging stand into the TV (in my case) and an electrical outlet, then position the headphones on the charger. It doesn't matter which direction the headphones are in for charging, just make sure the battery at the top of the headphones is clicked into the connection at the top of the charger. A red light at the front of the charging stand indicates the connection was made, and charging has begun. It also doesn't matter if the headphones are on or off during charging (the on/off switch is on the left earphone).

    RF headphones for my husband

Bought these refurbished after lightning got my husbands original pair. Sony makes a good product but it tends to be expensive. Found these at a bargain price since they were refurbished and trusted them to be like new. We have been able to use them, but they are a little glitch. Most of the time when my husband gets them out and turns them on, we have to mess with them for a few seconds before you can actually start hearing the sound. We have never failed to be able to get them to play within a few minutes though. Overall still believe it was worth the savings. That is the type of decisions you have to make when choosing between refurbished and new. Like I said, they do play every time, it just may take a minute of messing with them to get this to start. If they did not play at all I would have returned them.

The only problem with this product is the thin soft material on the ear pieces. they hold up great if you don't get them wet. How ever if you wear them on while exercising after a few times the material will start coming off on your ears. They will still work great but that is a problem. Make sure to buy them refurbished as they are just as good as the new ones that have the same problem. I have purchased 4 sets and will continue to purchase them as needed. One set is over 5 years old and still works like new just needs new ear covers.

When I purchased these, I knew I was getting a refurbished headset. What I didn't know I was getting was someone's ear junk and makeup. LOL. Whatever department received them as a return, did not QC these. The donut shaped ear piece had super visible makeup (foundation) marks and the inner foam had, well... someones ear junk. Little put off by that but rolled with it. That was 1 reason I returned them, but the real reason was the stand. It is not a tiny little thing by any means. I am sure they are good product, just not a super experience. Quality seemed nice, they were definitely priced right, but never got to use them.

I purchased one of these models brand new several months before finding this one on sale, and bought this as a second/backup unit due to significant price difference being refurbished. These fit surprisingly comfortable for long viewing/listening sessions and offer decent battery life. The biggest drawback to these headphones seems to be some static interference 'clipping' noise every 30 seconds to a minute - regardless of which of the three broadcast channels you select. Annoying at first, but you eventually get used to it. Sound quality wise, these really can help amplify vocals for general TV/media consumption. The bass response is by no means impressive, and drops off. This was probably intentional by Sony as to not cause distortion at high listening levels, because these headphones can get quite uncomfortably loud turned up all the way (understandable if they will be used by a near-deaf elderly individual).

I'm pretty well pleased with these wireless headphones. I bought them on an impulse - they were in the bin of things that had been purchased and brought back to the store. I took them home, tried to charge the battery, and set them up. When the battery didn't charge I just put AAA batteries in and things work well. I'll be contacting Best Buy to get another set of batteries since they don't work. I've set up the transmitter and walked about 50' away and still had pretty good reception. It dips out from time to time at 50' but within 25-30' the reception is solid.

Head phone fit is uncomfortable and audio control is unhandy to use. Phone battery life is very short and must be placed exactally in the cradle to charge. No operating instructions included with headset. Am pleased with the ability to watch the tv and hear clearly without having the tv audio on. Can listen without disturbing anyone and can leave the tv and still hear the audio.

Works ok as headset. However i can't figure out how to get sound from tv so others in room can hear tv and i can blast the headset for myself both at SAME TIME. ONE insignis works like that on my oldest tv. One insignia headset does not on my new fire tv. Very little instructions with the device!

The good: sound is OK. Set up is simple. The not good: kind of heavy, hurt ears after a while, control buttons not handy and hard to handle without take off and look at it, sometimes get some strange noise not sure from what or where. Bottom line: It is OK because I just use it short time at early morning to check the news and weather before work without bother my family.

I bought a set of these over a year ago and am very happy with them. Battery need replacing and (because I did not see the easy access battery bay) I opened one side and the speaker fell away breaking the two tiny wire solders off the circuit board. Rather than pay someone to make the repair and go buy the expensive battery pack. I found this set of refurbished headphones for $52. I just plugged in the charging stand to the wires already connected to the TV and, voila! Back in business.

I purchased these headphones for my 97 yesr old mother and they work just like they are supposed to. I can now have a conversation with someone else while she listens to the television loud enough for her to hear it and not disturb everyone else. O got a refurbished pair and they worked great for a few days but then something on the inside of the left speaker stopped working. I was checking it out for her and as I was I guess I moved back into place and started working again. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I got exactly what I expected.

Headphones are high quality. Their reception is rock solid. Charging stand is easy to use and works efficiently; however, the y-connector is cheap. Unit would rate five stars if base had separate right and left audio connections. Sony definitely cut a corner by not offerIng that option.

Installation was not as easy as I had expected. My Sony TV was connected to my U-verse set-top box by FDMI. Sony says that means no audio out to drive the headphones. However if the link was "component" audio and video I could split the audio and drivr the phones. This was no good. but I figured out that I could drive the TV with HDMI and use the U-verse's audio outputs to drive the headphones and all was AS WANTED. Though rhe quality of sound and separation are excellent, my wife doesn't like them because I can't hear her running commentary on the actors in the show we're watching, Whoever said Ignorance is bliss was dead on.
