First why I am giving these 4 stars. There are a few things for me that just keeps me from giving these 5 stars.
The first has to do with the mic. My ideal Mic would be one that you can take off but also one that swivels upward. I prefer one that swivels upward to mute over being able to take the mic out. But both would be ideal. I just find it much easier to push mic up to get out of the way and to mute when you need to. Like if eating something. Easier for me to just lift my mic up, eat and then pull it back down. With this, I would also like to be able to pull the mic out. This will allow too easy replace the mic if it happens to break. This will also allow to upgrade the mic if a better one comes out. I would love to see a universal plug for the mic. But that said, again for me the lack of not having a mic that I can push up to move out of the way and mute, is something I prefer.
Another thing for me is the dongle. I do not know who comes up with the design. But having it come out and off to the side. Like a L shape just baffles me. Why not just make it come straight out? Like a USB thumb stick. Ideally for me, the dongle would come straight out and at the end, a slot for the cable to plug in to charge your headset or use them plugged in but taking up 1 USB slot for both of those. Just a thought for that. But at least make the dongle piece straight.
Lastly is the software. It is not that bad, but it lacks some futures. I would love to see them offer more options. I use another headsets software because they offer more that I like. One such thing is having multiple outputs. This allows me to go in and have a setting for my games, movies, music, etc. So, for example, when I use my internet and use Netflix, or YouTube for instance, I can set the internet browser to utilize media for sound, and then I can customize the equalizer in that setting. Then when I play games, I can have those games open up under the game and set the equalizer up in that for games. It also has a list of games that I can preselect, and it will set up a pre-built equalizer for that specific game for hearing footsteps better. I would like to have seen something similar with Sony's software. Maybe over time. Another thing with the software, it does not give a battery percentage as far as in numbers. It just shows a battery and then roughly how full it is. I would also like to have something that says what the battery is at. Like am I at 92% after 4 hours of use. etc.
But overall, they did a great job. Sound is very good. I have been able to hear footsteps in games a lot better. The bass is not to overpowering. They are pretty comfortable. They have a unique adjusting mechanism that is pretty neat. The earmuff part though is a little too loose as they easily turn. But once on your head, don't notice.
The noise canceling is one of the best for a gaming headset. Not the best but does a good job. If you do not like that though, you can turn that off or you can also set to allow noise to pass thru. Off would give the best battery life, but I found that I charge overnight and use them all day without needing to plug them in.
I have been told from those I game with that the mic sounds clear and really nice. Couple things for me though, the software did not much for tuning the mic. It would be nice if they had some presets to change your voice up. I also found that some games for the in-game chat seemed to not work. I had to use my desktop mic. Discord had no issues though. just the in-game voice chat.
I love that they provide a travel bag. This bag also had a pocket on the front for you to put the cords and mic in. I would like to maybe see a way to put the dongle into the headset though.
Overall, the sound like I said, was solid. The comfort is there as I was able to wear them all day. If you are looking for a great gaming headset and do not care about not having a lot of bass, these are perfect. If you do prefer a lot of bass and a more bass heavy headset, I would not recommend these then.

I've used and enjoyed the Sony Inzone H9 headset for the past 3 years, so when I saw that the Sony Inzone H9 II was coming out I was instantly excited to see how they compare and what sort of improvements were made.
The first thing I noticed about the new headset is the lighter weight, which allows for it to be worn more comfortably during long sessions. The H9 II also has a new style of adjustable headband that leads to a more secure fit without feeling too tight. As for the earcups, they appear to be made of a new cloth-like material which is more breathable and seems like it will last for a long time unlike leatherette which might wear down.
The microphone of the headset is fully removable, which is nice if you ever want to listen to audio without needing to speak. In addition, the sound quality of the microphone is superb and is a marked improvement from before. To my ears, it sounds so good that I would be fine using it for recording speech instead of needing a separate studio mic. I do miss the convenience of the tilt up to mute feature, but I'm sure I will get used to the separate mute button on top. Also, this microphone has a large filter on the end which can get in the way if you're not used to it being there, but it seems to be worth it for the reduction in pops and background noise.
The wireless range of the Inzone H9 II is insane and the best of any headset I've had before. I was able to walk many rooms away while the audio played at a continuous high quality, where other headsets would have lost signal long before. The headset also offers a wired mode which is a nice option if you want to experience the highest sound quality and is something that not many wireless headsets offer nowadays. The noise cancellation mode works very well and is able to easily drown out common background noises to an unobtrusive level. On the other hand, the ambient sound mode offers excellent passthrough. When I had the headset in this mode, external noises sounded very natural and it felt as if the headset wasn't even covering my ears. In terms of sound quality, the H9 II excels for being a gaming headset. Many people assume that a gaming headset necessarily has bad sound quality, but surprisingly this headset has the same high-end drivers as the Sony WH-1000XM6.
Another great thing about this headset is the ability to simultaneously connect to both Bluetooth and PC. You can seamlessly connect to a Bluetooth device without having to worry about switching pairings or plugging in a new dongle. The battery life of the Inzone H9 II is also great, and I never have to worry about it running low as long as I plug it in occasionally. And even if the battery were to run out, this headset can still be used while it is in the middle of charging. A final nice inclusion with the H9 II was the addition of a carrying bag.
To wrap things up, the Sony Inzone H9 II is the best gaming headset I have used before and is a considerable improvement upon its predecessor. It shines in all areas, and the only improvement I could think of would have been the inclusion of a USB-A adapter. I was surprised to learn that this headset comes with a USB-C adapter, but luckily my newly built PC has a native USB-C port on it so this wasn't an issue. However for people with older PCs, this is something to be aware of.

Hi Sdunnin,
Thanks for sharing your detailed and incredibly positive review of the INZONE H9 II headset! It's fantastic to hear from a dedicated Sony fan who has used the original H9 for so long and can provide such valuable feedback on the new model.
We're thrilled to hear you've noticed the key improvements we focused on with the H9 II. Your comments on the lighter weight, the more secure headband, and the durable, breathable earcup material confirm that our design enhancements have made a real difference in comfort for long gaming sessions.
We also love hearing your praise for the microphone quality. Your description of it being studio-mic-worthy is high praise, and it's great to know that the new design, including the pop filter, is a worthwhile trade-off for the exceptional clarity.
Your experience with the insane wireless range and the seamless dual-connectivity feature is exactly what we aimed for. We designed the headset to give gamers the freedom to move around without losing connection and to stay connected to both their game and their phone simultaneously.
We appreciate your feedback about the USB-C adapter and the tilt-to-mute feature. We understand the convenience of a USB-A adapter for older PCs, and we'll certainly pass this along to our product development team.
Thanks again for your thoughtful review and for choosing Sony!
