I really love this HP spectre. Once you turn it on it goes to work right away. Very good processor. Performs very well. It is quiet and fast. I also love the touch screen. It does have a built in micro SD card reader not the bigger one. I bought a separate Insignia SD card reader for $20 to solve that problem. It is also the perfect size to carry around everyday for work and is light. I am very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I am happy with this laptop. I had bought a Dell a few days earlier and the video was not working right. I brought it back and Best Buy exchanges it for the HP Spectre w/no questions asked. I am so happy that I returned it. I love the spectre, fast, powerful, great battery life and the video is great.

Spent several weeks researching and deciding what I wanted for my next laptop. The HP Spectre 13 inch was exactly what I was looking for. Easy to carry, great keyboard and plenty of power. I have been extremely happy with this machine. In fact my desk at home has a docking station and the HP Spectre drives two 27" monitors in addition to the built in screen. Plenty of room for spreading out and getting work done.

First off the spec sheet on BBY.com is wrong about the connections available. This baby's got 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt connections on one side and a type A USB 3.x port on the other which will charge out even when the laptop is sleeping. I don't know if it's 3.0 or 3.1.
At first glance it appears that the only change to the x360 Spectre i7 is the new, 8th Gen. processor. They've also added a micro-sd slot and I think the fingerprint reader is new.
You get what you pay for here: a solid, light, lovely to look at ultrabook that can handle anything you throw at it that isn't a high-end game. The 1080p screen is perfect and sharp. The battery-life has been around 6 hours with very heavy use. The pen input with included hp pen is smooth. I work mostly in tablet mode with a lecture on one half of the screen and onenote open on the other half where I take my handwritten notes. The keyboard is also fantastic, well back-lit and surprisingly roomy for such a small laptop.
When it really goes to work the fan kicks on, just give it a little room to breathe and it cools down quickly. Netflix and Crunchyroll look and sound awesome here as well.
I'd recommend this to someone who wants the very best, portable productivity machine available. I'd also recommend it to someone who's thinking about a Microsoft Surface or iPad Pro-- don't do it! Compare the specs and prices this thing is a great value.
Finally, I have read about the Spectre being notorious for burning up, and I can see how that could happen: Block these vents and yeah the motherboard is gonna fry! This thing can hit 4Ghz and it's in a tiny, tiny package. If you buy a sports car and constantly roar around without taking proper care of it then it's gonna burn up too. What I'd recommend is GEEK SQUAD PROTECTION and you're straight, even if you do cook it.

Pros: This has great battery life, and lasts me all day easily. Great, crisp 1080p display. Very good Bang & Olufsen speakers(not sure why people say they're lackluster). Fantastic keyboard. 2 USB-C ports with quick charging(it's very fast). The fan doesn't come on during normal usage, and stays cool. Great track pad. Lastly, this has to be the best looking laptop out there and super thin.
Cons: My unit makes a high pitched noise, but it's not super annoying, or a deal breaker.
Overall: I highly recommend this over a mac, surface pro, and other similarly prices computers. You won't regret it.

This is one of the best Windows laptops that I have ever use. I love a good quality laptop and this laptop is fulfilled almost everything I wish. I can easily get 8 hours of usage on battery.
There is 8th Gen Intel Core i7 (U series), Fast NVMe drive, Touch Screen, Decent Speaker (sound quality is good but missing bass), 16GB of RAM, USB-C Charger and Thunderbolt 3 (It works really well the external graphics card for gaming and adobe premiere), a fingerprint sensor is okay and Windows Hello feature.
Okay, sounds good right? but let me tell you what I don't like on this laptop.
1. Keyboard...It's too mushy, I would prefer the DELL XPS 13 keyboard experience.
2. The FAN is noticeable loud when you run intensive application and gaming for sure.
3. The annoying HP Suite software that blocked you from using the 3rd party adapter to passthrough USB-C charger.
4. The webcam quality is okay.
All the things I mentioned above for $999, it's a bargain.

I really liked this laptop but it has major issues with heat and noise and it's kind of disappointing. I wasn't expecting these kind of issues for such an awesome design and configuration laptop. HP really needs to address these issues on super high priority before it gets all negative feedback.

With the I7 gen 8 CPU and 500 GB SSD drive it is a great computer for processing photos using Photoshop and generating video shows. However I needed additional data storage and the ability to copy from storage disk to archive disk. There is only one USB 3 port so I needed a powered hub. I tried 3 different USB 3 hubs. None of them were recognized by the computer. The USB 3 port is good as it works with an external drive and other accessories. I finally found a USB C to USB 3.1 hub that I could use a power supply with - j5create. It works great. But it takes one of the two USB C ports. The other is needed for the USB C power supply for the computer. You can use the hub as a pass through for the computer and power one USB slim drive. I do not know if it will work with 2 drives at the same time. I also use a second monitor which requires a VGA connector. I purchased an HP USB C adapter which allows power pass-through.
There is also no HDMI connector.
I prefer a wired Ethernet connection - there is no RJ45 connector. Fortunately the j5 hub also includes a RJ45 connector.
None of these deficiencies were a surprise as this information is available on the data sheet. However the difficulty I had finding hubs and adapters that would work with this computer was not expected. Thus my 4 star rating.

Great ultrabook for school. Its super light and very portable. The standard HD version is great and looks beautiful. There will be fan noise if in a quiet room, very noticeable but not overwhelming. It also gets very hot on the top side above of the keyboard. On the bottom (against your lap) it will be warm, not hot. I enjoy the 4 in 1 options and use it often. Overall very good laptop for the price with outstanding performance.

Overall this is an excellent laptop. I debated whether or not I should get the 4K, but when this came up on Black Friday deals, plus the better battery life, I was sold. 1080p is more than sharp enough, the 8th gen processors work well, battery life is excellent. I ran into two problems as I was working: starting out, I couldn't get Windows Store or Windows Update to function properly, and it seemed like the laptop was running slower than it should have been. I would experience some stutters while doing basic browsing, and my laptop would get about halfway done and stop loading in the Windows Store and in Windows Update. I had to download the Windows Update tool and restart my laptop before it updated to the most current version of Windows. Once I got onto the newest Windows, all issues I had with stutters and updates were resolved, go figure.
I also looked at the Dell XPS 13 and the HP Spectre (non 360), and both of those I didn't feel were any better for the money. If you're looking for the best ultrabook for the value, look no further.

Needed a laptop to work remotely, and this one ticked all the boxes for features and technology. I purchased it with a little bit more memory (RAM and SSD) than I figured I needed, but the price point with the additional memory was too good to pass up.
As my first Windows 10 machine, the learning curve is a little frustrating, but the performance of the machine is superb. Battery life, a big concern for me, is even better than anticipated. The form factor of the machine in both laptop and tablet configuration is excellent, and the keyboard is sized well, with good tactile feedback.

This ultrabook is awesome! The 2 in 1 form factor is amazing and extremely smooth. The ssd is very fast, same with the processor and the 16gb of ram. Pen and windows hello is also a plus! Only downside is this laptop gets hot quick. The airflow is not Up to the quality of the high powered machine. This does not come into play during regular web browsing, not taking or productivity work though. If better cooling would be 5/5

This laptop is small and has a great battery making it very portable. I can get about 2-3 hours pushing it to its limits. The screen looks great which helps when you are in the various “modes.” The charger is great with plenty of reach and it can even charge some android phones. The speaker gets decently loud and has speakers on both the top and bottom. The keyboard has a little bit of clickyness when typing at full speed, but can be quiet if going slow. Having a backlight that can be turned off is amazing, letting you see the keyboard in direct sunlight or with no light at all. This laptop also has a very large trackpad that turns off when typing so something doesn’t get messed up.
However, if you need to use both the keyboard and the trackpad at the same time, then you need a mouse. It also gets very hot, but that’s expected. It runs as hot as a computer normally does, but there is little heat protection for the user. If the laptop really gets working and you press on the middle above the keyboard, it feels almost burning as the outside of the computer is made of metal and conducts heat. On that note, the fan is noticeably loud if there is no noise in the room or if you are not wearing headphones.
Overall, it’s a great computer and can’t wait to use it in school.

The size and feel of this laptop are excellent. It has outstanding battery life, a decent screen (the 1080p version, for better battery life), is light and fast. It gets hot and the fan is noisy when stressed. The main issue I have is the sound -- it will sometimes make a horrible static noise after playing music, requiring a reboot. At least the reboot is fast, but that is annoying.

I honestly didn't plan on getting a laptop this expensive, but what I wanted and what was available, didn't match. So i did my due diligence and researched what was the best bang for my buck when it came to compact, SSD, Processor, Ram, and touch screen. It came down to the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro, Dell XPS 13, and the HP Spectre X360. I can say that the HP won me over with the reviews and cost comparison. The HP was also running a new faster quad core I7 Intel processor and had 16 gig of Ram. To top it all off, I found an open box buy at my local BestBuy which made me even happier. I can say with this being my third computer in the household ( 10 year old beefed up Dell desktop and 6 year old Apple IMac 21") this laptop is super fast portable. My wife and I use it now for our day to day business needs. With it being a touch screen I can create documents with Word and sign them right on the spot without a printer and email them directly to our clients. I honestly recommend this machine. It has some bloat-ware on it but no biggie. This should last a long time with all the upgrades.

Product is light weight and really handy to use. Finding fingerprint reader for the first time was tough as it is on the side but rest all is great with the design. I did not get any overheat problem so far which was one of the complaint I read, charger heats up a bit.
No issues with the battery backup so far and is as specified on the features list. It doesn't have inbuilt feature for screen privacy but my original privacy screen also works well and is handy during travel

The latest update to the convertible adds some nice upgrades to the internals but also tweaks some features like improving the keyboard key color (previous version was hard to read in bright light).
Super fast, great keyboard, OK screen (upgrade model exists if you need a better option here), and of course light and thin.
