I really enjoy how they have went back to a system like the old battlefront. Throughout playing matches you get additional units and gear to use based upon you score or how well your contributing. The single player campaign is great. Its very interesting playing from the empire side as you progress through a story in which takes place during return of the jedi. Can't wait to see what the season pass has in store.

There’s mixed reviews on this game which I can understand. Yes it’s very “pay to win”, sure the campaign is short, the complaints are not out of line. But, looking past some of its flaws, the positives vastly outweigh the negatives. I didn’t get this game expecting game of the year, I got this game because I love Star Wars and I love EA multiplayer games (Battlefield). When you get into a game, you feel like you’re in a Star Wars movie. The sights, sounds and combat are incredible. The maps are massive with so much going on in the background, packed with 40 players. X-wings and TIE fighters battling above you, Walkers shooting their massive lasers at you, fire coming from empire soldiers on all fronts, Darth Vader chasing you though the caves on Hoth, then you come out of a cave and a TIE fighter suicide crashes into you. It’s such a thrill! Then you become a Jedi and you feel unstoppable. Using the force to freeze everyone in front of you then slashing through them all. It’s so rewarding after all the hard work you put into the objective’s to finally play as one. I prefer this hero system better, instead of a random drop on the map that players rushed to and only one of them getting the hero crate. This system rewards you for playing the objective, not just playing for kills. Which is great if you’re not the best at killing people, you’ll still have a chance to become a hero. The campaign I thought was amazing. Yes it was very short but you do get emotionally invested in it and it ends leaving you statisfied despite its length. I won’t give away any spoilers but it is worth the 4-6 hours. Over all, as I said I got this game because I love Star Wars and this game does the perfect job of making you feel like you’re immersed in the galaxy far far away. It does have its flaws but for the most part, it’s an incredible game with a lot of great updates on the way. Hope this review helps some of you on the fence, if you love Star Wars like I do, give it a shot.

This is a good buy. The single player campaign is good, the multi-player is very enjoyable and there's even an arcade mode to play around in. Plus it looks fantastic on the One X and the sound is phenomenal.

Originally I purchased the deluxe edition to support the fact that the game's dlc would be free. Now I'm thankful that I purchased it just because the progression system is ridiculous. Cards earned through crafting materials (which are rare to obtain) or through random loot boxes which makes advancing your classes a large grind. It's clear this game's progression was slowed to annoy the player into purchasing microtransactions. Aside from that, the gameplay is very fun. Good variety of heroes, classes, and game modes. Campaign is relatively solid though unexpected. Overall pleased but hopeful that the progression system is fixed.

I read all the negative reviews about this games campaign and micro transactions, and decided that I would give the game a shot since I’m a big fan of Star Wars, I was pleasantly surprised that the campaign is fun although a bit predictable and the multiplayer is great fun I have not yet purchased anything to be able to win matches. As far as the game, it’s amazingly beautiful top notch graphics. If you liked Battlefront you will not be disappointed.

Excellent Star Wars Game (A Casual Gamer's POV)

This is a great improvement over the first Battlefront game. I did not like the lack of solo game play. Plus, no story-line! It was just a randomized shoot'em game, that had its moments, great worlds, but ultimately, a casual gamer like myself cannot enjoy due to the forced multi-player insanity. Nothing beats turning on a game after a 50-hour work week, jumping into a mission, and getting blown away in micro-seconds. THIS game HAS a story, and as a 40-year fan, I can say that the story fits in well with the saga. I was able to beat the campaign, and it felt very satisfying. It was tricky, and the controls took time, but the end result was truly rewarding. I know I'm not a true gamer--one probably will disregard my review, but this is for the 12-hour-a-day worker who might sneak an hour (or if lucky two) every so often. I took advantage of my Thanksgiving holiday to play. Also, I know the pay-to-play loot crate scandal is very off-putting, but since I'm not in it to get all the rewards/characters within a week, it doesn't affect the casual gamer like me. This game is great, there's a chance to play all the major characters in the campaign, so those who worry about not playing the original triumvirate of Luke, Han, or Leia, fear not! This is the SW game for XBox I've been looking for! Oh, and it's worth it to purchase the Deluxe edition that upgrades Rey and Kylo. They're excellent characters to play around with! (Kylo especially is pretty wild). Enjoy!

The gameplay is fun and the maps are beautiful. Sound is awesome too, feels just like the movies. But the progression is confusing and loot boxes make it so you can’t upgrade specific aspects. It’s so random. Campaign is cool on the most part, definitely some downfalls.

This is my favorite game, it has terrific graphics and the multiplayer is amazing. The story mode is a little short but will get better due to the extra expansion in the winter DLC. EA is a great company but the game has had problems with pay to win and the progression system. EA is working on the problem to make this game a 5 Star game.

I was very hesitant to purchase this game due to all the hoopla surrounding the issues with EA and loot boxes. I must say that this game exceeded my expectations. I am not thrilled about the loot boxes in general but I believe that EA fixed the issue well to some extent. The game is visually stunning on Xbox One X. The sound is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who loves Star Wars.

Yes yes, micro transactions are not good for fair game play. Do you have to use them? No! Will they help if you do? More than likely. I can see being upset if you're a hardcore gamer and just HAAAVE to be the best, in other words feel obligated to buy crates to better your chances. For the casual gamer, if you're having fun playing (games are about fun as well as competition, remember????), then who cares. I know, boo EA, devil company. I still bought the game. Moving past that...the game is really good. I've played about 1/4 of the campaign and am having fun with that (finally an actual campaign). I like how the story is unfolding, and it really makes me want to watch the movies for the umpteenth time. Multiplayer is fun also. Flying controls take a little getting used to, but not bad. One weird thing I've noticed more than a few times is the death animation. When they die they sometimes flail around a lot (over exaggerate), it's just...weird and stands out. Minor annoyance.

I understand this game is getting ALOT of heat from its hero unlocking to micro transactions. It isn't exactly as easy get a handle on like the first because they added classes and different traits for each class, points earned to play a hero in certain game modes. Don't get me wrong, it sucks to have to grind for so long to earn certain things, but grinding is part of gaming nowadays. It does take a little longer to unlock and get loot boxes, but I like the game. I was a huge fan of the first one and this one ad well. The game looks amazing on my on a and my 4k oled LG. Take a look for yourself at the game and see how you like it. I did

    Lacking in Local Play

Hands down, the single player campaign is amazing. Excellent 1st person gameplay, graphics, and target acquisition. Unfortunately, the same is not true for the local multiplayer. Graphics are much worse if you want to play with/against a friend. Enemies are unreasonably difficult to acquire and engage, especially with heroes in 3p. The game plays, as it's so named, arcade style. The first Battlefront left little to be desired in regard to local multiplayer, save for custom matches and online with a guest. However the only good thing about Battlefront II is it's single player mode, which is phenomenally well done.

Despite the whole controversy of the microtransactions and loot boxes, I really enjoyed the game underneath the predatory loot boxes. In terms of content, it's an improvement over its predecessor. The best feature, in my opinion, is the space combat and how they revamped the entire mechanic. The story campaign was not what I expected, but I was engaged with the story (even had some emotional moments). Hopefully, the game will improve over the next few years, but it's time for Disney/Lucasfilm to cut their deal with EA and find a new game publisher that would treat the Star Wars IP with respect and care.

After the whole EA fallout over loot crates "play to win", I still believe this is still a step up in the current generation Battlefront series. The single player campaign is as much Star Wars as you would love...despite being shorter than I would have liked. You touch on certain cannon material and characters throughout. The multiplayer modes are fun. Once you unlock Vader, Luke, Leia, etc...it really adds a new dimension. The starfighter mode is great going to epic space battles. Controls are tighter and you feel more in control. All in all....great Star Wars environments, characters, sounds, music, and excitement you would expect. I've already played more of Battlefront 2 than I did the original (and I bought that on release day).

Sleek, Immersive SW Experience Marred By Bad Press

Take it from a "Star Wars is my religion" type nerd and avid gamer, this sequel is an incredibly engaging, absolutely gorgeously crafted experience that has been pummeled by the internet-hate-bandwagon. No one, including the game, is forcing you into any microstransactions, and they are far from necessary to enjoy the phenomenal multiplayer, great arcade modes, and excellent campaign mode that fills in a lot of fun gaps in-between ROTJ and TFA. I preorderered in July, played the beta daily, had the early release elite edition, and am a week into gameplay and still enthralled with the experience. The pros FAR outweigh the cons. If you're a fan of Star Wars or thoughtfully-crafted shooters in general, Battlefront II is a no-brainer.

The graphics are good and the story is good. They did a good job of listening to the fans and giving players a solo campaign and a coop campaign. The multiplayer is fun. My only complaint is you have to gamble on buying crates that give you upgraded abilities, which you have to earn by playing the game or spending real money on them. It gives the impression of pay to win to advance faster in the game and have the chance to compete in multiplayer against people that open their wallet rather than put hours into playing the game.
