I’ve Had my eye on a stand-up desk for a while now. I wanted to use it as a traditional desk, but I also wanted the ability to use it as a work bench-style hobby desk. The Steelcase looked like it would do the job and do it in style. Got it home and it’s a heavy box. It weighs about 100 lbs., so be sure to have a helper if need be to move it into the house. It will also need a pickup or SUV to transport (FYI). Be careful with the top part of the cardboard box if you use a box cutter. Do not cut too deep as the laminate desk top does have padding on the corners and side but the whole laminate desk top is not completely protected other than the outer layer of the cardboard box. Got all the parts out and laid them in my floor (see pic). I was pleasantly surprised just how easy the setup was. The instruction manual comes in the box and it will guide you right through the assembly. I mentioned that the box it came in weighed about 100 Lbs., That’s because this desk is SOLID. The material is top notch and the quality of the pieces is fantastic. I did get a little confused about a rod which was a piece of metal that connects to the motor to the non-motored side of the legs of the desk to raise and lower it. Once you read the instructions it will make sense. You have to slide the rod all the way onto the motorized side which then gives you the clearance to slide it back towards the non motorized side then tighten. It looks a little weird because the rod will look like there is extra room on the motorized side but that is by design…. I digress…just read the instruction manual! Once it was all set up I tried it out. Up and down…nice and smooth. The table top is super steady and the legs are solid…no wobble. I did have to play around with the chord a bit because if you get the chord hidden and out of sight….then raise or lower the desk the power chord has to have enough play to go up and down. I wish it had some sort of retractable power chord design. So, I am 6’1” tall and I can raise the desk all the way up till it’s too tall for me! Likewise…I can lower all the way to a comfortable seat. Really cool. (see pics). Steelcase has a winner on this one! It looks absolutely gorgeous, super stable plenty of lift and lower, and a great 12-year warranty on parts and labor! If you need a sleek well built stand-up desk or workbench for hobbies that gets the job done and looks amazing in any room….Steelcase AMQ Sit to Stand will get the job done!

I love this desk as this medium-sized and modern-looking AMQ height-adjustable desk by Steelcase with round legs and round desk edges perfectly fits my simple home office needs perfectly fine (laptop, mouse, and notebook). It enables me to make it through a workday from sitting to standing with the push of a button providing a height between 28 inches (71 cm) and almost 48 inches (120 cm) that suits nicely even tall people like me (6’6”/197 cm). The desk looks beautiful and feels rock-solid/stable even at the highest-level setting thanks to its design and weight of about 105 lbs./48 kg. The desk lift operates quietly (at < 50 dB) and rather fast (1.1”/2.8 cm / second). The only drawback is that the height control panel is limited to up/down buttons and does not provide memory settings. As such, you need to remember the height settings and with the help of the digital display press the up-down buttons for as long as needed to reach the desired heights. Thankfully, the desk provides a quiet and fast lifting experience. The desk is shipped in one box and comes with beautifully described and easy-to-follow illustrated assembly instructions and all necessary tools; despite the weight, I could quickly and easily assemble the desk independently in just 20 minutes (including unboxing) without the help of a second person. There are only 11 screws, where 8 of them are for installing the feet onto the columns, and the other 3 for the wire tray. Everything else snaps beautifully without the need for tools. I would highly recommend this desk to friends and family. This table replaced a simple table from IKEA. My 11-year-old will be the primary user of this table. He does homework and plays PC games. I want him to be able to stand from time to time. This table is very heavy. The legs feel durable. Assembly is not too difficult. The only confusing part for me is the screws. The instruction labels got me confused. It said something like M6 x24 (something like that). Initially, I thought I was supposed to have 24 in quantity and it only had like 6. But that second number is the length of the screw. The design is nice and clean. The cables under the table can be hidden. The finish of the tabletop is nice as well. One adjustment I had to make was the legs. The previous table had four legs and skinnier (simple table). The legs on this table two and take up a little bit more space. I had a cabinet with drawers as legs on one side of the previous table. Now I must find more space to accommodate. I need to continue to use it because my son is messy (you can see in the photos). It works, just takes up a little more space. The space between the legs are similar to the previous table. But because the table now rises, I have to make more space for the printer which sits on top of the cabinet. The lowest height can be set to 27.9 inches. The highest height is 47.6 inches. From lowest to highest, with weight on the table took 19 seconds to raise. There is a glass riser with a Dell all-in-one computer on it. That is the heaviest that is on the table and can handle the weight. He has other toys on top, but they are not that heavy. Overall, the desk is well-built. The motors are not too loud when using. He enjoys it because it looks better than his previous table. His height is set to 31.6 when sitting.

I have been wanting a sit-stand desk since 2020 when my job switched to remote work. I needed something that was a quality-built item, that looked nice in my space, and that wasn’t too big. This Steelcase desk fits all my requirements and more! Set-Up: The box this comes in is large and weighs 110lbs (per FedEx’s tracking). I was able to move it into the garage but decided to just unbox it there and make 3 trips upstairs. One for the top (the heaviest part), another for the 2 legs, and last for the cover and misc. pieces. You will assemble the desk upside down and then flip it up, which might be a challenge for some, especially if you aren’t on carpet. You may want a second set of hands. I spent a lot of summers/breaks in high school and college working for a Steelcase distributor, installing their furniture in offices, so it was like having a cheat code when putting this together. But overall, the instructions are very simple and include pictures at multiple angles for each step. Pushing the levers down to lock in the feet required some force. A small rubber mallet will help, or just use your heel to step on them (while wearing a shoe of course). You do not need any tools to put this together. A small wrench and hex key are included and should be all you need. Make sure you check the level and use the adjustable feet to get the surface level. I usually go about 1 turn past level so that the front is ever so slightly higher than the back. Nothing crazy, just so the level bubble is more towards the edge of the center box vs dead center. This helps a little with stability and the possibility of the desk tipping forward and has no impact on the desk’s operation. Operation: The desk moves up and down effortlessly via the 2 buttons on the front facing control box. While it would be helpful to have a memory function, I do appreciate the fact that Steelcase included a digital screen, so you know exactly where you had it for sitting and for standing. I only need to remember the sit position because standing position for me is all the way up. For those of you who are tall, this desk will work for you. I am 6’ 7” and the top height of 47.2” is comfortable when standing. In terms of stability, I have had no issues with severe wobbling or anything that would concern me. It’ll move a little if you bump it or try to move it, but just doing normal computer work it’s stable. I’m not leaning or sitting on it, and my dog usually sleeps under the desk during the workday, and she’s not bothered by it (except when I move it up or down lol). Overall, good amount of workspace without taking up a lot of real estate and solid construction. Overall impressions: Steelcase has long been one of the premiere manufacturers of office furniture in the US. That has typically come with a large price tag. This desk would probably fall into the “mid-range” category because of a lack of bells and whistles. But the flip side of not having all the extras is that it keeps the price down. And aside from memory buttons, I don’t know what else I would want. A cradle for cable management would be nice, but I got one online for $20 that works better than the cradles I’ve seen in most office furniture. Recommendation: I would absolutely recommend this to anyone that works from home or wants a work surface at home where they can sit or stand and adjust it to exactly what works for them depending on their height and needs. Hello friends, Welcome to my review of the new Steelcase AMQ sit-to-stand desk. First off let me tell you that this comes in a large box that is very heavy. I took everything out of the box in my yard so i could move it a few pieces at a time. I had to install it upstairs in my house alone, if you have help or you are a strong individual you may not need to do this. In my opinion this is a super heavy duty unit. I am currently using two monitors with a sound bar, a mouse, and keyboard, as well as my phone and notebooks. On top of this unit and it has no problem raising up or going down. Also it is sturdy in its highest position. In its lowest position its solid as a rock. I need to mention the assembly process for this desk. First off they provided pictures as well as instructions together. I had no issues assembling this desk by myself once i had it in my office. It is quick and fairly easy with the tools needed to assemble it included in the box. Keep in mind tho that the pieces are heavy. However like i said before not to bad for most people. Finally i want to talk about the usage, and it's fantastic. The Steelcase desk glides up and down quietly at the push of a button! When I originally ordered this desk I thought it would be assisted by a gas shock or strut assembly. However that is not the case this unit is powered by a electric motor. That is quiet and strong. I am sure I will get years of great use from this desk and hopefully do some good for my body as well. Do I recommend this desk? You betcha, it's fantastic!

I have needed a new desk for a long time. When I saw this desk, I was drawn to the simplicity of it. A fairly standard size, and I chose the white color with light top, I wanted my office to be a bit brighter. This is very sturdy. I have a desk job and this will be a big help in the afternoons when I feel the need to move. From 25 to 48 inches, this thing moves smooth and quiet. The delivery weight of this is heavy, a two person lift is much safer with this. It was dropped on my doorstep and I got it in the door and moved the desk in pieces to my office. Instructions are simple to follow, assembly took roughly 30 minutes from box to in place. This came with all the tool you need, a small wrench and an hex wrench. This only took 11 bolts to hold together. The legs are held in place by a clamp system that is quite clever and stable. It also makes this ideal if I decide to move this to another location, I can easily get this in my minivan in 3 pieces. The finish of the paint and desk are durable, commercial grade powder coat for paint. It has enough room for my laptop and cooling base, spare cooling base, and much more. I don't keep much on it. This will work really well with my gaming steering wheel, if fits very tightly and no wiggle. I reccomend this desk.

My wife has been wanting a sit to stand desk for her classroom for a while. She teaches 1st grade, and while she is on her feet all day, she still likes to stand and move around after her students are gone for the day. She is very impressed with this desk so far. It is HEAVY, and once assembled it is very sturdy, very well constructed, and should last for years even in a classroom with a bunch of rowdy 1st graders. The desk operation is smooth and it reaches a very tall height. The color is nice and blends in with the rest of her décor. The size is perfect, with enough room to work while not taking up too much space in a somewhat cramped classroom. Assembly was simple and the instructions were easy to follow. As I mentioned previously, the desk is heavy so make sure to have a helper lift the box. I have seen multiple very expensive sit to stand desks around my office, and this one is easily of comparable quality while being much less expensive. I highly recommend this desk for anyone needing a sit to stand desk at their home office, business office, classroom, or anywhere else.

I have always been fascinated by sit to stand rising desks but never took the opportunity to use one. I have to say that the steelcase AMQ sit to stand desk - white base light oak top is an extremely well built, durable and nice looking piece of furniture. It was also packaged well, albeit quite heavy to move around and I highly suggest opening the box and taking parts out 1 x 1. Set up took a little bit of time but was not that challenging. The height adjusts from 28 inches to 47 inches which is perfect with my desktop set up. This is all handled with a controller that is very minimal on the right side of the desk. These have a T leg design (like a lot of these on the market) and it is very sturdy. The overall depth of the unit surface is 28 inches which provides me with more then enough surface distance. Duel monitors fit perfectly, and I have plenty of room for mouse, keyboard, notebook, ipad, etc. I have thoroughly enjoyed standing up to do some work, even if it is for 20 minutes or so. It is nice to rest my back from arching forward constantly when sitting. I highly recommend this desk for home setups.

I’ve never used a standing table before until today and after looking into it and trying it myself I can see why people would want one. Setting this up is easy and you don’t need any other tools then what is included inside the box. I set it up myself but I would suggest 2 people to make your life easier. If only counting unboxing it and setting it up it only took about 30 minutes or so for me. As far as a general desk it’s nice build and I feel would last a long time. The desk says it has a limit of 144 pounds and I feel like the desk could carry that much weight but I don’t want to try that out myself. What’s great is the desk is great to sit at as well I was worried it would be higher than usual. But you can control it to be as high as six feet or something close to that. Having a desk that you can stand at can help with posture and if you’re sitting down a lot like if you’re playing video games a long period of time the ability to raise the desk and still play while standing easily is great. You don’t have to hurt your back.

Steelcase - AMQ Sit-to-Stand Desk - White Base Light Oak Top. The Steelcase desk is a solid and easy to assemble all steel frame with a wood top that has been laminated top and bottom and has a rubber edge all around. All metal parts are heavy duty and well painted, the wood top is high quality. All measurements for power consumption were done with a KILL A WATT P3. With the desk fully assembled and resting, with the display off, it draws between 0 and 0.8 watts, with a normal draw of about 0.3 watts. With 50Lbs of weight on the desktop the current draw is about 83 to 94 watts while moving up. The draw is 84 to 40 watts while moving down. In any position the draw will go back to its resting draw when stopped. The display shows 27.9” at the bottom and 47.6 at the top. I measured this to be correct. Since the feet have some adjustment, the dimensions may be a little different for you. The tabletop measures 28” X 47-1/2”. The manual says to allow 1” between walls or other objects. While the table is moving, either up or down, if it is shaken more than normal the unit will stop and move the other direction about 1”. When the table top is restricted from moving it will try to move for a second and then will move back the other direction about 1” again. This shows there is good interference protection. If the table senses something is not right it not only stops, but reverses back the way it came for the 1”. In the assembly manual it states that you can reset the table by moving it to its lowest position and then holding the down button for an additional 5 seconds. RST should be displayed, that did not work for me. Holding the down button did not change anything. It might be that from the factory it is calibrated and will not go into reset unless it senses something is not correct. I do not think this table would be a good option for gamers because it does have a little side shake because of not having any cross bracing to steady the table. If on the other hand you have your monitor mounted to something other than the tabletop it would be good for gaming as well. The up/down is controlled by 2 buttons and has a digital display to show the height of the tabletop. Bottom line, this is a great sit/stand table for office use. Well made and as solid as can be.

The Steelcase - AMQ Sit-to-Stand desk is a wonderful addition to any home office. Tired of sitting all day? No problem, the sit-to-stand gives you the flexibility to stand when you need to stretch your legs but can’t seem to get away from the everlasting Teams meeting, or whatever might have you anchored to your old chair. Best of all, the desk is motorized. So, your ideal work area is just a press of a button away. The Motors are reasonably quiet and don’t interfere with your tasks or calls should you need to adjust while in an active meeting. The desk is very sturdy and well built with smooth steel surfaces. Even at its highest setting, the desk felt even and anchored. Minimalist design, it definitely achieves a small, modern footprint allowing you more flexibility in achieving a home office layout that functions as well as it looks. Desktop size is decent, I was able to place a 27” computer, modem, keyboard, trackpad and a small printer/scanner and not feel cluttered. Overall, I would recommend this desk to anyone who has a home office, or a student. It’s value and flexibility make it a must have for your home.
