Had to return them because the batteries on all 3 cameras kept failing. I had them mounted high enough after a full charge that a ladder was needed when they died. After a couple times, I decided the winter Wisconsin lack of Sun could not support the solar charging needs.

This system did not provide me with the level of clarity that I expected.

I have several wireless camera systems from some of the top manufacturers and I am very impressed with the Swann-MaxRanger 4K Solar 3 Camera Security System. The 4K video and pictures these cameras are capable of is very impressive and I love the fact that they come with a hub that has all of the connections for use with a TV or monitor for easy monitoring from inside your home. You can also add more cameras to the system very easily and with a big 4K TV have great clarity in the videos and pictures sectioned off allowing you to easily view any one camera or all at once in short clips.Then if you move the cursor to the right a list of recent events slides out so you can view any of those. When you view a clip like this once the clip finishes it feels almost like you are stuck and you are in basic mode. Unlike in the app where it continuously plays the next clip. With the hub software you have to click on the events tab and it displays a screen full of recent clips where you can pick an event at any time of the day that you want to watch. There is not much going on in the hub settings and I could not find a way to adjust the length of the clips you get or anything else that appeared useful to me. I did however notice that as long as there is movement it will keep recording. However, you do have the option of using the Swann Security app for Android or IOS and in the app you are able to combine the use of different Swann cameras into your system all viewable within the app along other great app features including all of the standard icons below the viewing screen that includes things like snap a photo, record video turn the light on, sound an alarm, use the mic for two way talk and sound on and off along with a settings button. The settings in the app are much more comprehensive than the hub settings but still lacks basic camera settings like adjusting clip lengths or picture quality adjustments. I also have a Swann Video Doorbell that works with the app. Unfortunately, though it does not work with the Hub that lets you view the cameras on your TV or monitor. So what I am thinking is that using phone link for Windows would be the best case scenario and you can the use any PC to view the app on a larger screen. Another thing I thought I should mention is the battery life which seems really good. These cameras with there built in solar panels are supposed to never require charging time will tell how that plays out. I wanted to mention though that my system is set up with two cameras under the roof overhang which concerned me since the solar panels may be mostly blocked. My other camera is up in a tree. While the tree camera does see more action I figured it would stay more charged than the others but that has not been the case. So right now I am not sure how effective the solar panels are since the camera that gets the most sunlight has lost more battery than the others I really hope that they stay charged enough to keep me from having to take them down and charge them. Overall, I believe this Swann camera system is a good choice just due to the quality of the cameras and the options of using the hub for viewing or the app for remote viewing and in home viewing. I would like to see the software a little more refined, especially with the hub but it works well enough and I did not run into any issues that hindered functionality. I would like to see the option of not having to sign in to the hub every time you want to view the cameras on your big screen in real-time. I feel like the system may be geared toward more non-technical people and maybe that is why there are not so many settings available to configure. The Swann-MaxRanger 4K Solar 3 Camera Security System in my eyes is worth the asking price and a worthy contender in this category of security camera systems.

Unboxing the Swan Max Ranger 4k solar WiFi security camera. Package came with 3 solar cameras with battery back ups. I charged them for about 3 hrs as instructed and set up the hub that has a slot for micro SD card up to 256GB. Setting everything up was pretty easy with the instructions. Just make sure when setting up you have the hub connected to the monitor for easier configurations. The Hub has a battery backup for up to 5hrs if your power goes out. Each camera comes with all the mounting screws and brackets needed to install outside. Forgot to mention the cameras also come with two USB to USB C cables. When units were fully charged I set up each camera two in the backyard and one in the front. The viewing angle is only 105deg wide. It would have been great if the viewing angle was wider so I didn’t have to set up another camera to pick up the blind spots. The instructions the came with the package was very easy to follow making set up a breeze. Make sure when setting up the camera that you provide it with a lot of sunlight. Once the hub and cameras are set up make additional modifications in the software. What’s cool is that you don’t need to have a subscription for AI detection. Video recorded 15 fps not at max video quality. During the day video quality was very clear however night was clear but but did not reach max video quality. The video quality was pretty clear halfway of the driveway about 20ft but started getting blurry at the end which is about 40ft. Overall, the unit was very easy to set up. You will need a monitor to set up and modify additional settings like sensitivity, AI detections, recording length, channels, mode. It would have been great if it had a wider viewing angle, The cameras are well built and easy to set up. The app is very easy to use, intuitive but the software if you are not used to setting up an NVR like me I had to learn how to navigate nd set up. The picture quality is great but can be blurry at night. Bottom line if you are looking for a 4k resolution solar/wifi camera system. This is a good system.

I have been a loyal user of Swann products for years now. Wireless, wired, you name it. Once again, Swann nailed it with the Swann MaxRanger 4K. Right from the get go, the design language is familiar. I think all Swann products have similar aesthetics. I personally like it. The build quality does not feel too cheap and plasticky. I was prepared for setup to take a bit of effort, but this was perhaps one of the most seamless setup processes I have ever experienced. You do have to download their app and connect it to the base station which took no time at all. I was expecting to add each camera but the cameras literally all connected to the base automatically. I did charge the cameras before mounting them. Obviously, while these are solar powered, you still want to top them off. You don't know if you will have sunny weather continuously. You should also make sure to place these in areas that are sure to receive plenty of sunlight. The range is seriously impressive. There are corners of my house unfortunately where the wifi is weak or nonexistent. I tested out the cameras there and they handled it no problem. I have not had any connectivity issues. The video quality is amazing. Seriously. As some news articles have shown me, I know that even with modern security cameras, some have had trouble capturing license plates, faces, etc. These do not have that problem so rest assured. All in all, the Swann MaxRanger 4K is an exception wireless camera system that should fit the needs of nearly anyone looking for some extra security.

The Swann - MaxRanger4K Solar 3 Camera Security system provides new, extended range for security cameras and provides the expected 4k definition often only found in the wired security camera offerings. The onboard camera solar panels help alleviate the dreaded need to recharge each battery to keep the security cameras working. The longer life found in these cameras help ensure the system remains up and running longer, thus decreasing risks to security during recharges or the need to purchase a second set of battery packs to keep them up and running. I found this system to be a great improvement over previous Swann wireless systems and other competitor systems. The battery life is far better in this system than others I have tries, but still has an occasional low battery signal when rainy or cloudy for extended periods. This is perfect for areas with a lot of sun and especially for the long summer months. I am not sure how they will fair for those whose winter months are equally long and shorten access to sunlight. PROS - Swann quality and innovation - 4k definition with both day and night vision - Completely wireless - Solar Powered - Extended range ensures connectivity CONS - Concerned about winter months with reduced sunlight to keep them charged.

The Swan MaxRanger4K Solar cam set is an excellent security system in many ways. It also manages to take away the biggest headache of buying a new camera system, running all the wires. The set comes with 3 wireless cameras which have solar panels built on them, that automatically keep them charged in the sun, eliminating any need for power cords. The NVR which is a small box that acts as the main hub, and all the mounts and cables needed for installation. The NVR has an internal Micro SD card slot that can be used to store recording clips, you can also connect a USB drive for storage. Setting up the security cameras are incredibly easy, especially since you no longer have to run any wires to the cameras, that alone takes away 90% of the troubles of setting up a security system. As soon as I turned them on, they automatically connected to the NVR. The detailed instruction manuals make it easy to set everything up by guiding you through the whole process. This includes installing the cameras, to setting up the NVR and the Swan mobile app. The video quality of the cameras is astonishing. At a max resolution of 4K, the images are very sharp and crystal clear. This helps out tremendously when trying to see who or what is in the image. The motion sensing works great, and I really like how you can set a custom perimeter so they will only detect motion in that certain area. With the Swan mobile app, you are able to view each camera with a live view, turn on the spotlight manually, and even talk to someone with the 2-way mic. The one thing I was worried about was the cameras being able to communicate wirelessly at a longer range, but to my surprise I had no issue at all. I placed the NVR on one side of the house, and the 3rd camera at the other end of the back yard. I am amazed at how it has never once dropped the signal, not only that but the strength is still at full bars on all of the cameras. Overall, I love this cam set. Swan really knocked it out of the park with this one. Everything from the setup to the wireless cameras is amazing! This is a great quality product, and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new security camera system.

I am new to the Swann brand, so I hope this review is helpful who is new to Swann and is thinking about these cameras. I am not new to security cameras, but these are the first solar powered ones that I own. Here is a quick breakdown on how I rate some features that are important to me: Unboxing Experience – 5/5 – the box is informative and includes a quick overview of the features that come with the system. The box includes more things than you probably even need, and this is not a bad thing. It even includes a mouse and HDMI cable in case you want to connect the homebase directly to a tv have these displaying 24/7 in your home. Personally, I don’t need this, I just have it set up on my phone, so I did not bother to use the HDMI connection but know that it’s there! Built Quality – 5/5 – the cameras are a little bigger than other security cameras I have used, but the quality is far better than anything I have owned before, and I like this. It feels rugged and weatherproof. The sensor light is bright enough to help me as I get close to my front door. The antennas really do make a difference. I don’t have the antenna on a camera I kept inside the home, but the cameras outside have the antenna and the signal is strong which results in a good high-definition image. Battery – 5/5 – solar powered and yet able to charge in case you are keeping one inside your home like I am. I appreciate they came charge from the box, and so far about a week in, all bars are still full. One thing that I was surprised by was that homebase has a built-in battery in case your home losses power, the homebase is still connected to the cameras and recording. No Fees, No Subscription – 6/5 – I love that I don’t need to pay a monthly subscription. In a time when every company wants to make more money for something that should be included with a product, I appreciate that Swann did not put a subscription behind this. Software – 5/5 – easy to set up. I didn’t have to individually connect each camera, they were pre-installed with the hub, so it was finding them automatically. I just had to connect the hub to my internet via ethernet and I was able to quickly see the live view in my phone. I was also easily able to turn off notification for the camera that I am keeping inside my home because I don’t need to get notification for this camera, and the software made it easy. All in all, I highly recommend this security system to anyone who is new to Swann and is looking for a security system that has good range, true high definition, and no subscription. I am loving my set so far and have zero complaints. From installation to navigation, it’s been great as someone new to Swann.

As the title says, the video image quality is really good because they are 4K Cameras after all; however, the solar panels built into the cameras themselves is absolutely not great at all. I placed the Swann MaxRanger4K cameras in the exact same spot I had a wire-free competitor brands 1080p cameras and the external solar panels for those 1080p cameras. The competitor cameras stayed charged up with no problem with the external solar panels. However, when I installed these Swann MaxRanger4K cameras the built-in solar panels would NOT keep the cameras charged up during the day. This included when the sun was directly hitting the cameras they were not charging. So, I hooked up my external solar panels to the cameras and the charging was better but was still hit and miss. However, the cameras now stay at 100% fully charged during the day and only drain throughout the night. The quality of the built-in solar panels is really disheartening because everything else about the system is absolutely amazing. The 4K video, the detection notifications, etc all work really well! Would I recommend this product to a family member or a friend? Sure but only if I also told them to buy external solar panels and double mounts in order to mount both of the items on the same base. In it's current form, with the current built-in solar panels this system just isn't ready for the big time.

This is defintely a good solution for me living in a more of a rural forest area as some of the areas where I would want camera's to monitor before these could have required a lot of digging to get wires, or battery packs for cameras that would neede to be recharged regularly and swapped which is a chore in itself. THese camera's however address this issue, since my house faces the sun so it is perfect to setup and not have to worry about charge (at least in the summer). They provide the additional coveraqge I've been lacking and have been fun to plug into into the TV and play watch the wildlife with the kids on the main TV as a change to the constant cartoons. The range is great, esp. since where the base station is located comparted the cameras is a good couple hundred feet from each other through the house and walls of said house. Picture is clear and looks great on the TV. Looking at the cameras on my computer hasn't been an issue and I found setup to be a breeze. I'm just happy I know have closed a coverage gap, can watch wildelife and not have to worry about swapping batteries while getting amazing 4K Pictures. Just what I was looking for and needed.
