    Good for 13 months or so…

    Excellent for a year. After that despite being advertised as waterproof… it is irreparably damaged due to water from rain entering into the assembly . I had to change 3 of them between 1 to 1 1/2 years. They tend to do better under the eaves of the roof or under a covered patio…it does not hold up when exposed to the sun and rain after 13 months or so.. Very disappointing… Each replacement is over $200 …And then there’s the cost of labor to remove the damaged device and replacement… Installed by Geek squad…however they refuse to come back to remove and reinstall it now… not really sure what paying for Geek squad coverage is for!!

Please know these cameras are designed to be installed indoors or outdoors but as you mentioned, we recommend placing them under an eve for better protection. Although an IP66-rated item, such as a security camera, is made to withstand extreme weather conditions, it is not intended to be immersed in water or subjected to prolonged exposure to strong winds or water jets. Please know Swann offers a one-year warranty from the date of purchase without the need to register the product. Additionally, you can get up to 36 months of warranty with valid registration on a Secure + Plan.     Defective Swann cameras

    This is so true. I bought eight and recently had them uninstalled. Best buy came out several times prior to fix them only to tell me a year plus later that the cameras were defective.

    Great Security Camera

    I use these inside mt house and the 110 degree viewing angle is the best. My previous camera had an 80 degree viewing angle but now i’m able to see the entire room and have audio communication.
