Protect your laptop or desktop with this Targus DEFCON PA417UCCL coiled cable security lock, which features a resettable 4-digit combination code and cut-resistant galvanized steel construction to deter theft.

I don't know how much I will end up using it, but this lock is obviously very strong and top of the line. It even comes with a stick and screw anchor point for more permanent applications. I also really like that you can set the code to what ever 4 digit code you want. But before you use this lock, keep in mind that you can break these locks out of computers so even locked don't leave your computer alone in public places such as the library. These locks are mostly made to prevent snatch and grabs as well as provide extra security in semi-private and secure locations such as offices where someone is likely to notice tampering.

not bad for a laptop lock... fits kind of loose when in correctly. should have the option to be straight or curled.... i prefer straight since its a laptop and is most likely going to be presented since its going to be locked... all around though its built pretty sturdy and is working good. personally i would make the locks sockets bigger on laptops rather than a little notch in the side of a laptop for the lock.

Bought this to secure my Company laptop to a reception desk by our front door. It's easy to set a new combination and fits the laptop DEFCON anchor connector perfectly. A good pair of cutting pliers could probably defeat the cable but it will prevent someone just walking away with my laptop. Extra layer of protection and cheap insurance.

This is the first Kensington lock I've bought. It is lightweight and quite easy to use. The only downside to this lock (and most likely an issue with some others) is the spiral in the cable that doesn't lay down very well. It keeps it's coil too much for my taste. Other than that, it functions well.

Good product for the price. Lightweight and portable. Good for classrooms or as a safety feature to fasten to your luggage or other items assuming you are close by. Not as good for using in public places unattended as it looks like it could be cut with pliers.

The best feature of this lock is that it is very flexible, unlike the other laptop locks I have owned. It is also lightweight. I also appreciate the combination as opposed to a key lock. I would purchase again.

Simple, easy to use, works perfect. Keeps my laptop secured to the desk. Im sure it could be cut if someones determined but its made to be a preventive, not fool proof.

This is overall a decent locking device. It provides decent protection for your laptop and it's reasonablely priced.

I work in an open cubicle area with a desk top computer but I also have a laptop I need for contracting work so I need to secure it. Since it coils the space I have to thread it around makes it difficult to freely stretch plus it's almost too short for the available beam I have to anchor it around. It would be great if I did not have to wrap,it around a large beam so I would recommend it if you have a good close anchor point.

Easy setup and easily can change combination. Works great. Will stop the quick lift but a real thief could cut the cable if they really wanted to!

I purchased this cable security lock for my MacBook Pro. It works great, is simple to use, and doesn't take up space in my carry on luggage.

This lock works fine on our older thicker Toshiba laptops, but I bought it for a new, thin Toshiba that has a lock hole, and it doesn't work! Design of laptop has changed, so this lock will NOT work. How disappointing!

I actually purchased these for my pro audio equipment. I have bought quick a few. I figured it was about time to protect my investment and get locks for them. They are easy to use, but I"m sure if someone really wants to steam what ever they are attached to, it could be possible. On mine I went with a different passcode for each piece of hardware for added security. They are able to attach to my desk without the included hardware.

Keeps the laptop safe from the casual thief but probably won't stop a determined thief. Numeric code is also very convenient. I bought this because the store I was at didn't have any Kensington ones available but they haven't let me down yet.

Got 2 of these at Best Buy - they were the only laptop locks in stock at the store near us. The combination lock works well, and my wife was able to set the combination easily enough. The coiled cable is easy to pack. I only wonder if the cable is thick enough to foil a cable cutter... Also, there are relatively few secure places to wrap this cord around in most hotel rooms I've seen. It's a deterrent, at least.

This was a last minute purchase as I had just dropped off my son for his freshman year at college. We suddenly realized that he had no way to secure his laptop in his dorm room. Learning from a similar experience with his older brother, I quickly located the nearest Best Buy and purchased the same security cable I had for his brother three years earlier. While online purchases are easy and convenient, in this case a brick and mortar store saved the day and perhaps my son's laptop. This laptop security cable and the one I purchased three years ago are meeting all expectations and continue to perform well.

I have been researching different locks for laptops especially since I like to go to libraries and coffee shops to work on things. This way, if I need to run to the restroom really quickly or get a refill, I feel a bit of security.
