[Potential spoilers within this review] Knowing the mixed reviews this game had before I played it may have colored my perception of it, but I still found it to be overall enjoyable with some elements holding it back. Pros: -I was a fan of the story. Even though there were some inconsistencies with certain story beats compared to the first game (like Joel's personality/habits as an example), I appreciate that this game tried to do something different and tell a different kind of story. -Although they didn't feel that varied, I appreciate that the game had more variety of enemies when compared to the first game. -The graphics were amazing and I felt more immersed in the game because of it. -The gameplay was a bit more polished compared to the first game, even if they didn't expand on things too much. Cons: -The second half of the game felt slow and somewhat forced at times. I was annoyed by the rewinding of time to play as a whole other character that I didn't feel much of a connection to. This made the game feel like it was outstaying its welcome. -As mentioned before, there were some inconsistencies with story beats such as Joel revealing his identity or the way the main story ended before jumping ahead in time. -Some of the open-world sections were a bit too open-world for my taste. It just felt like I was constantly scavenging and it slowed down the pace of the game.

I avoided the leaks, and waited to write my review until I finished this game for myself. After finishing this game I can assure you the majority negative reviewers are people who read the leaks, and just want to be upset without seeing and playing what Naughty Dog created. The world they created is the pinnacle of game design, and the story telling and voice acting are better than you see in a lot movies and television. The dystopian world and story they are telling is not meant to be happy, their consequences for actions, and it explores the absolute worst parts of humanity. The game play is for the most part the same as the first game just faster, and more action packed if you want to play it that way. It's also absolutely brutal, so make sure your kids are not around. I like the momentum mechanic, and the accelerated camera during action sequences as it makes things more fluid. My only negative about this game is the motion blur whether on or off can be somewhat nauseating. Overall, I think this game builds on everything of the first game, and just made it better. Naughty Dog again proves they are leaders in game development, and I respect the heck out of them for being bold in the direction they chose to move this franchise. I am absolutely amazed how they were able to push the PS4 hardware, because this game is absolutely gorgeous and the world they created is beautiful. Games like this do not come along often, and for me this has become one of my favorite games ever. I look forward to what Naughty Dog does next generation, and what they may do with the Last of Us series.

Re-Played this last week and my god what an experience. I feel the same way thr first time I played 3 years ago. Mad, sad, happy, scared, nervous. So many emotions come out of me while playing this game. On top of the amazing captivating story experience. The gameplay is topnotch, its like if Resident Evil and Metal Gear had a baby you'd have stelth action horror game. Its so satisfying to pop up outta the shrubs and stelth kill infected or pop out the grass and snipe an unsuspecting human npc. The music and voice acting is also outstanding, gustavo santaolalla & mac quayle provide a haunting, emotional heart pumping soundtrack while ur fighting for survival or simply having a tender moment between characters. Anyway, I recommend anyone picking this game up and playing for yourself instead of hearing others opinions and gorm your own. You just might love this game. :3

First off - I pre-ordered the physical copy of this game and received it right on time, so Best Buy upheld its guarantee. Now, for the game. This was one of my most highly anticipated games ever. I hadn't been this excited for a game sequel since Portal 2 released in 2011. I had very high expectations. Thankfully, The Last of Us 2 exceeded them. I don't want to spoil this experience for anyone, so I won't get into detail. All I will say is to ignore the review bombers and experience the game for yourself. In my view, it is the biggest leap forward for videogames as a narrative art form in a very long time. From every standpoint - gameplay, graphics, sound design, characters, story, etc. - this game has set a gold standard that will be very difficult to overcome. Fair warning - this game isn't mindless escapism and will likely affect you in a real way on an emotional level. I can't recommend it enough.

Just like the Last of Us was the shining spark of excellence that closed out the PS3 era, the Last of Us Part 2 is that same for this generation. Most reviewers (overwhelming majority) did not even play this game before that gave it 1 star. As someone who replayed part 1 immediately before starting part 2, I'll try to explain the drastic improvements. Gameplay: Amazing. Guns pack more of a punch now that prior but the ammunition is a bit more scarce. There's less hiding spots where you can camp and use listening mode to plan an attack. Enemies patrol much better now and will call out their strategies to flank you. Graphics: Best in this generation. Period. Story: Nothing you've experienced in a video game. This is not the happy Hollywood story like Part 1 was. So if you go into that expecting it, you will be sorely disappointed and then crushed repeatedly. Drop your expectations and prepare to feel empathy, as this will open you up to one of the greatest stories in video game history.

The Last of Us was a triumph for the PS3. An epic of unmatched maturity and design. It told a story that affected you long after the credits ran, and it was a journey I returned to time and time again. The Last of Us 2 is a similar accomplishment, greater in scope and ingenuity, but also in emotional toll and darkness. It is a story of vengeance, of the cost of vigilantism, and of the sacrifices we make for the ones we love. Make no doubt about it, this game makes bold and controversial decisions with its characters. Like Game of Thrones, no one is safe...even main characters. In that way, it is unlike most other games you'll ever play. You are never truly safe, and that fear carries forward into everything you do. I have felt elated, stressed, furious, and undone over the course of this game. It was an experience akin to the best stories in literature in film. I also relate this to another game of substantial scope, Red Dead Redemption 2. The two titles are barely similar, tied by a few motifs, but deliver a unique style of game: One that is at once brilliant and incredible to behold, and yet one I will not return to nearly as often. This game isn't popcorn. It's a decadent meal, and you should take your time to enjoy it.

If you liked the first part of The Last Of Us, you will absolutely love this second part. It has a little of everything: surprises, excellent game play, a lot of action and of course scary events. When you start playing this game, it will definitely be hard to stop playing. You will go on and try to finish the whole game in order to see what awaits you.

I'm just going to say this from the start: You need to play the first game before you play TLOU2. You'll be doing yourself a great disservice just jumping in to this one. Naughty Dog games are some of my favorites. They all are like playing a movie but the game mechanics have always taken a back seat to the beautiful storytelling. You are, in essence, playing a movie. Having said that, this game is painfully beautiful and has quite a few genuine things I have never seen in a game. All I have to say is power cable physics. Amazing. There are a lot of haters on the internet tearing the story apart but that's because Reddit has become full of baby internet trolls who are never happy with anything. I thought it was a wonderful story and dives deep into the complex nature of humans. I hate to break it to everyone but not everything in life is filled with rainbows and cupcakes. TLOU2 explores the darker side of survival in ways that only they can. If you're thinking about this game do yourself a favor and stay off the internet and just play through it's 30 some-odd hours and be surprised. This game WILL make you uncomfortable but that's okay.

The last of us part 2 is not only a true sequel but a phenomenal milestone in story telling and gameplay. This game is not for the faint of heart. It’s brutal and violent that’s almost hard to watch. It’s mature and beautifully stunning at the same time. The last of us part 2 sets a new standard for single player Triple A games. A masterpiece.

Awesome videogame, all of it... its great, the campaign, the graphics, I absolutely Love it, It took me 36 hour to beat the game it's a long game, but it feels so short to me, at the end I wanted more... I'm on my second gameplay right now. I hope there's going to be a TLOU part III, and I hope it will soon. I wish I could've been able to go to and purchased it at my BestBuy store by myself, like when TLOU part 1 came, but the pandemic situation didn't let me.

Love the story, graphics, gameplay, etc. This is one you'll definitely want to have in your library. I hope in the future naughty dog will do more of an open world concept. Although not open world the maps are large and the action is great. You think the game is ending then bam! More good stuff.

Story is great with ups and downs and lots of action. But when that action stops sometimes it can get a little boring until the next action. Graphics are amazing and the characters well written and acted. The polarizing part is if you are uncomfortable with gay scenes and/or don’t agree with LGBTQ stuff you will definitely not like this game. Look passed your prejudices (if you have them) and the game is top notch!

Phenomenal game and a perfect completion/continuation of the first. I could not recommend this game enough if you have played the first. The level of character development is awe-inspiring. Absolutely captivating story lines and amazing work done by the artists and actors on all fronts. Full emotional investment. Then the final battles were the single most mentally grueling fights I've had in a game. The way they integrated the music throughout the game and story was a work of art. Then on to the game play and graphics. The use of HDR and the visuals are just stunning. Spent hours roaming around just playing with shadows of trees. So much attention to detail that it's mesmerizing. Game play was everything you loved about the first, smoothed over, lightly customized, with a couple extra bonuses thrown your way. Just a beauty of a game. Took three days to process the ending of Part II then started another run in the first one. I just needed more.

The Last of Us: Part II is a masterclass in storyt

10 out of 10 The Last of Us: Part II is a masterclass in storytelling and gaming. The Last of Us: Part II has gorgeous visuals, exquisite writing, fantastic acting, and a haunting sore. The scope of the plot and world is larger and more complex. The choices and dialogue feel meaningful with each line and moment. The complexities of vengeance, and the real weight of what these choices will cause. Ever person and being becomes a tool, a reason, and a weapon against whomever the enemy is. The Last of Us: Part II fully exceeds its predecessor. While the first game limited the scope and world-building to the single path that Joel most takes, the second game truly explores every corner it can of its world. There was much more character development, a more complex plot, and a new look at its own world. The Last of Us: Part II never relied on any tropes or stereotypes. The Last of Us: Part II has a fluid and intense combat sytem and general game play; and large amounts of places to explore. Perfect 10.

Going into this game with an open mind will immensely help with enjoyment. This is Naughty Dog so the production value is insane. Everything from graphics to voice acting to animation to gameplay - is exceptional. Unusually for a more recent ND game, the game is also long. With the highly refined action, some might see this as more of a good thing, but I felt it stayed its welcome a few hours too long. Going into the gameplay more, encounters are some of the most intense I've experienced. The phenomenally subtle but powerful music should be heard through headphones. Attacks have impact, enemies react intelligently, and environments are meticulously designed to provide the player with numerous options for maneuvering and engaging. The story is the point of contention around this game. It's astonishing how many people went up in arms just because the story events took a different turn than what they expected. It's one thing to hate bad writing, but it's another to hate writing just because it didn't align with your ideal head canon. The presentation is fair to critique though. Without revealing any spoilers, the game goes back and forth between 4 timelines which can be pretty jarring, especially in the second half. Overall a highly polished game that, despite having questionable story execution, does not deserve the hate that it gets.

great improvement from the first, the combat is so fluid and fun to play. i honestly enjoyed the melee combat over the gunfights, which is crazy cause the first game had some pretty bad melee combat. the second half is where the combat really shines, they play with vertical terrain more, which adds a lot of depth to an already great combat system. but honestly as much as i like the combat, the downtime between encounters is probably the highlight of this game, this is really the first game i've played where i can actually recognize buildings and locations due to actually being in the city before, but they also kinda mess up the layout a little, like idk how you don't see the space needle till you're like 75% through the game. but for real there's a lot to stop and look at in this game, and there's a lot of dialog related to random stuff scattered through the city, which helps it feel more real. i think the story is naughty dogs best yet. i don't know how people couldn't really understand the motives behind it, it's so easy to digest. and it's absolutely disgusting how people have attacked the game due to a character being trans. i don't care what you say, there's no way its pandering, y'all are just transphobic and are too afraid to say it. overall this game felt like the perfect send off of the ps4 generation, i'd give it a 4/5. a must have for any ps4 owners. (also play on survivor if you can, the other difficulties get boring)

Probably the greatest game I've ever played. Is it my favorite game of all time? No. But definitely the best I've ever played. Graphics are incredibly detailed from characters to environments. Gameplay is a much much better version of the original so if you didn't like the gameplay of the original you're probably not gonna like this one. Story is the one that divides the fan base and you definitely HAVE to be emotionally receptive to truly understand and experience all that this story offers. You also might have to watch some videos of the director and other people breaking down the themes of this game. Yes that's right, this is not a simple revenge story. Even the way the story and pacing is set up us because of a particular reason. This is the Lupe Fiasco of action adventure story games for sure. Layers of reasoning instead of typical point a to point b story telling. If you looking for a Red Dead 2 type story, you'll be dissatisfied.

I loved the Last of Us. I like this one. Technically this game is a masterpiece even when compared to Next-gen games. The graphics, music, sound, animations, etc, are all industry highs and the team who made this are to be applauded. The gameplay is more refined than the first game and it leads to more flexibility in how you choose to take on your enemies. Unfortunately the story is much weaker than the first game and the characters are much less interesting than the first game which makes repeat play through a bit more of a grind than in the first. Additionally the pacing isn't as tight. TLOU2 suffers from a lot of tedious fights. In the first game it was only the last mission in the Seattle hospital where it felt like the game choose to overwhelm you with opponents. In this one it felt like they took that final hospital sequence and stretched it out to a lot of the games. You'll go from one section fighting a large squad of enemies, open a door, and the next room has just as many as the section you just completed. But overall this is a good game. It just falls short of the overall greatness of the the first game.
