Review of Theragun RecoveryAir
For the context of review, I run average 32 miles and swim average 45000yd per week.
Although I don’t workout at high intensity level, for having run for several years with constant distance, in the muscle has produced pain and soreness. Although it is manageable with good rest and stretching exercise, I have to go through some level of uncomfortable feeling still, and uneasy for quick recovery.
Now, I have used the Theragun Recovery Air for about 2 weeks. 2-3 sessions of 30 min at 100% of pressure per day after each activity. The result is after each session, my legs does feel relieve and kind of new. It is not literally exact, but it is that feeling in the muscle after good sleep.
Wearing it is simple, just place the leg and zip, then power on, set pressure level and timing and just let it work. As good practice, would recommend to use where feel comfortable and have fresh air as once started and although it can be can paused, in the process feels to start to sweat and might want a sip of drink, for which pausing and unzip and start over waste of time. Once the timer is completed, unzip it and done.
One detail to remark as positive, it pressure from the very bottom to the all the way of the top to the end. And can feel it works on the ankle and the feet where is hard work on.
The duration of battery is quite acceptable, used it several 30min session with 100% pressure and lasted about 7 to 9 sessions. As benefit, it can be used while charging.
Although the RecoveryAir is the simple version, it missed time remaining indicator. Can’t tell how long is left. Secondly, it is bit noisy the pump sound. And third, it could have a bag to put all the pieces together for better mobility.
Aside of small details, it does help to relieve muscle fatigue and soreness for quick recovery as it intends.

Absolutely Amazing After Racing

I don't know where to start, there is way too much good about the Theragun Recovery Air system. Being that I have been in the hospital a lot over the past few years for Cancer surgery, Hernia surgery and other issues from racing ATVs, I found love for the leg air sleeves in the hospital and always wanted a set for home.
With the Recovery Air system, I am finally able to enjoy the same benefits and do it in the comfort of my own home. I received them right before I left for a race out of state and decided to take them for myself to test the benefits right at the track in-between races. I will say right now, it was the BEST decision I have made all year.
From racing to standing all day, my legs were beat after Friday and Saturday. Both nights I hooked the air control unit to my generator and turned them on for 45 minutes while I relaxed, ate food and enjoyed explaining to people what they were, After I was done, a few tried them out and I am pretty sure sold a few nits because of it.
The quick assembly and ease to put on and take off makes these great for travel and home. I would have liked a carry bag or case to be included, would have really helped but I stopped about bought a cheap $10 backpack.
How easy is this? Put leg sleeves on and zip up, plug them into the air unit, hit the power switch, adjust your PSI and time and hit the play button. Now, sit back and relax while the air fills up from the feet to your thighs, pushing all the acid and stale blood flow out of your legs then release allowing fresh blood flow and oxygen to your muscles and tendons.
The release your body feels every time the pump releases the air is incredible, giving your legs the needed blood and oxygen to recover faster. How much faster you ask? I woke up Saturday and Sunday with ZERO leg pain or fatigue, this has never happened in the 27 years of racing.
I will never go to the track again without my recovery air system. I want to but smaller legs sleeves for my kids soon and ones for shoulders and arms. I already use the Theragun at the races for my forearms and helps a ton. This company knows how to make great products with a purpose and they actually all work.
If you are reading this review, do yourself a favor and buy these, I promise you will love them and use them as much as you can.

Game Changer for Recovery!

I need to start by saying that I am a recreational runner, I'm not fast but I love distance running, because I love the mental challenge. It should also be noted that I am a forefoot runner who under-pronates... that's fancy speak for "I land goofy and often risk injury". Add that to the fact that I'm really lazy about true recovery and it doesn't bode well.
I was super excited to try this product because although I stretch some, I know it's never enough but when you're squeezing a run in the middle of a full workday, it just never seems like there is enough time to really take care of yourself properly.
Enter the RecoveryAir! I can put these on at night while I'm decompressing from work/motherhood/life in 2021 and for 30 to 45 minutes my muscles get taken care of and I really get some mindfulness time, too. These are so relaxing that I wasn't entirely sure if I was doing it right but after a week of sitting with them once a day, I can really tell that my normal soreness is not an issue and when I'm out and running my muscles seem to warm up faster, which makes that first mile A LOT easier to get through!
If you are at all in the market for a great way to take care of yourself then make this investment!

I'm not a pro or even highly competitive athlete anymore, but I still like to stay active riding my mountain bike, chasing after my toddlers, running 5Ks and playing team sports like softball and flag football with friends and for work.
Every time I take longer breaks and start back up, my legs take longer to recover and its extremely painful for a week or two while my legs recover from my over-exertion.
You may have seen these fancy new leg recovery kits on TV if you watch the show Hard Knocks, all the pro athletes seem to be using these for faster recovery, so I was thrilled to be able to try these out to improve my own recovery.
Theragun/Therabody acquired this technology from RecoveryPump so its a bit of a rebrand, but the system works amazingly well. The leg sleeves are super comfortable, easy to put on and off and fit true to size based on the description. I'm 5'10" and the Medium fit me perfectly and very comfortably.
The control pod itself for the RecoveryAir is very straightforward, you have a knob for duration at 15, 30, 45, 60 and Continuous duty cycles. You also have a dial that lets you control the amount of pressure. The max amount of pressure is about the max I would use as it is borderline uncomfortable.
Each leg sleeve has 4 compression chambers that will gradually fill with air, from the bottom to the top of each chamber creating a pressure gradient that helps circulation by sending blood and toxins to your core which then pumps clean blood back to your legs. The total cycle for all 4 chambers and the deflation takes about 2 minutes in total, and the fully inflated duration is only about 10-15s to prevent any circulation issues to your extremities. There are no additional control abilities for different chambers or pressure per chamber. The Pro model seems to offer these so look at that if you want more control over pressure, chambers and also additional accessories.
As for results, you can really feel the impact on your legs, it feels like you're walking on cloud 9 when you're done with at least 15-30 minutes of duty cycles, even after just a long day at work. Your legs will feel a bit tingly as if you just got a nice compression massage. After a vigorous workout, you'll feel less sore than you would normally as you've helped remove much of the toxin buildup from your legs.
My only major gripe with this unit is that you can't control how many chambers are active like you can with the Pro, so it makes it hard for my wife to use the unit even if she leaves the top chamber unzipped. She can get some use out of it, but without the ability to disable inflation on the top chamber, the zipper tends to unzip as it fills with air.
Also, it would be great if Therabody sold just the leg sleeves for a reasonable price, so then you could just purchase different size leg sleeves to fit multiple users instead of having to buy an entirely new kit.
Overall this is a great home recovery system that is easy to use. Its battery powered and stores away easily, although it would've been great if it came with some kind of formed case. I actually store it in my LoveSac Ottoman when I'm not using it and it fits very easily in there along with some other stuff I don't want my kids to get access to, like my laptop, remotes and other stuff like that.
As mentioned previously, if you want more advanced control and the ability to use additional attachments, consider the RecoveryAir Pro instead.

The Ultimate at Home Pneumatic Compression System

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Therabody RecoveryAir Pneumatic Compression System is a luxurious investment. As a runner, and physician, these were quite the eye catcher. A few years back now, I developed resting sinus tachycardia, where my heart rests around 120 beats per minute. Given easy fatigability associated with this condition, I ended up getting out of shape, gaining over 50 pounds within a year. Since that time, with a few doctors appointments later, I have re-entered a life of activity, running once again. It seems though as I’ve gotten older, my legs are not as quick to recover as they once were. When I came across the Therabody RecoveryAir, my interested was peaked.
As a physician, I am currently involved within hospital medicine. Being in a hospital, since I was a medical student, I was exposed to the concept of sequential compression devices (SCDs) also known as intermittent pneumatic compression devices. These are calf high boots that are placed on a patient’s leg to provide sequential compression of the leg from bottom upward, to assist in blood flow of the leg. These are designed to be on while in a hospital bed for extended periods of time, to assist in circulation and reduce the instance of blood clots. And well, all I can say is that the concept of the Therabody RecoveryAir, co-insides with this concept, initially boggling my mind. Oftentimes when we exercise, our body uses anaerobic metabolism. This creates biproducts, like lactic acid, which can lead to discomfort in the recovery phase. So… why not use the concept of a compression device, to assist in blood flow, ultimately helping circulate fluid in the leg, to remove these negative biproducts and assist in recovery? Genius. And, now that I’ve rambled… back to the product – The Therabody – Recovry Air Pneumatic Compression System, does just this. The leg set covers from the foot to the hip, designed to provide sequential compression up the entire lower extremity.
The pneumatic device unit is simplified and easy to use. You can select the desired pressure, time of treatment, and intermittent time between compression. It is simple to modify these settings as necessary, and quick to get started. From unboxing to use, less than 5 minutes total. The pneumatic device also has a battery! This caught me off guard. I had assumed that you would have to keep the device plugged in, but rather you may charge the battery and easily get at least 5, 45min-1hr uses from the system. Absolutely convenient for on the go, or if there is no outlet near your favorite resting couch or chair.
The actual treatments are quite relaxing. It is suggested to start at 40 mmHg pressure and determine preference from there. I myself, prefer between 60-80 mmHg while my wife found 40 mmHg perfect for herself. It comes down to preference, but even at lower compression you get that mechanism of flow initiated. Not only does this assist in circulation and lymphatic movement, but it feels soothing, like a message. So not just therapeutic, but relaxing.
There are multiple chambers, that sequentially compress. Feeling from the feet to the hip. After each chamber has engaged, the air releases for the set time (3, 6, and 9 seconds). I prefer 6 second intervals. This will cycle for the desired amount of time. I would say that an important aspect to the legs is choosing the correct size. There is a wonderful chart provided by Therabody to choose the correct size. Medium will likely work for most males around average height. I am 5’11” and my wife is 5’7”. I fit wonderfully into the medium, and she too can use the medium, but they do seem almost too large for her. I figure if small was chosen, I would not be able to use them, but they would fit her more comfortable. Hopefully the specific height references, can help some individuals make a proper decision.
The overall effect is fabulous. I believe, as does my wife, that there is improvement of discomfort the next day after intense physical activity. I assume this to be threefold in mechanism – not only with circulating away negative byproducts, but messaging the muscles, and with the right attitude very likely having a positive placebo effect to recovery. It is so refreshing to see a concept that I have become accustomed to in the hospital, applicable to everyday life and recovery. And, as a side note, these are not limited to just athletic use! After working a 12-hour shift and on my feet for a decent portion of it, I’ll stick these on for a relaxing evening post-work recovery!

I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore workout warrior anymore. I am a middle aged guy who likes to jog occasionally, lift weights occasionally and try to keep myself in good health in general. So no, I’m not doing marathons nor am I doing spartan races, however I do have bad knees and arthritis. I suffer from sore muscles often. I’ve utilized the RecoveryAir system in combination with stretching daily and its been quite amazing.
The basic setup is as simple. It came charged up all you have to do is plug the boots in to the base, zip them up and turn them on. There are pressure settings on the base from 20 to 100 mmHg, so you get a wide band of tightness. I suggest starting off somewhere in the middle. The sleeves have 3 chambers which fill up with air slowly starting with feet, ankle/calf, knee lower thigh and then upper thigh. All of the chambers fill up one at a time, but stay full. Then they deflate together at once. There is a timer on the base which offers 15 min-continuous running times. The base is battery operated. Once charged it lasts quite a while.
I can feel the blood being pushed to my upper extremities when using this. It feels great. After using the recoveryair my legs feel great. I have noticed that the more I use them the less sore my legs are after doing any activity. Recovery time and soreness for me have both improved since I started using these. I have implemented these into my nightly routine because along with stretching, they work.
The only cons I can find with the system is that it comes with no carry bag and the sizing. At this price, it wouldn’t be much to include even just a cheap bag to put these in when not in use. The sizing seemed a little off for me. I am 5’10” and ordered a medium and they seem a few inches too large on me. If I had to do it again I would choose 1 size smaller. I even looked to see if I could buy the smaller size but haven’t been able to find them online.

I’m not an elite athlete or anything, just a regular guy who runs regularly. I am usually training for my next race, and at least once in a while, I really like to push myself – either a faster pace, longer distance, more hills, etc. As you can imagine, my legs can get pretty sore after one of those “reach” days, so I was really excited to try the Therabody Recovery Air system. Right away, they became an important part of my recovery routine. I’ve definitely noticed less soreness the next day after using the compression boots.
The overall experience is also really, really pleasant. It feels like getting a massage, slowly working its way up from the feet to the ankles, through the calves, and to the upper leg. My legs feel so good after a session that I’ve started using them every day, even those with moderate, light, or even no workouts. Also, my wife (who’s not a runner, but does spend a lot of time on her feet) has given them a try and started using them regularly too. So we’ve got two happy users in one household.
Getting started was pretty easy – there’s a guide in the box that walks you through connecting the pieces, adjusting the settings (really just three things – amount of pressure, length of the session, and how long the boots pause once fully inflated before deflating), etc. The boots feel a little bit awkward at first. It took a few tries before I figured out exactly how to position my feet and toes for compression without discomfort. Once I had that worked out, however, I found the sessions to be comfortable and therapeutic. I slowly dialed up the pressure with each session until I found what I think is the “sweet spot” for my legs. Now I’m using the Recovery Air every evening, while reading or watching TV, and feeling great afterwards.
I really like how the Recovery Air has a rechargeable battery. You’re never really “cordless” as there are hoses running from each boot to the pump/control module, and it’s not like you can be walking around while using the boots… but it’s still nice to not be limited to using them somewhere near a power outlet.
Overall, I’m so happy to add the Recovery Air to my routine. I’m enjoying the sessions, my legs seem to be recovering better, and the whole thing is just convenient and easy to use.

These Theragun RecoveryAir boots are incredible! How much easier can recovery after a hard ride or long run be than putting on boots and pressing a button! After a 30 minute session, you'll feel the blood begin to flow more freely to your legs and feet while decreasing swelling. The next day you will still be feeling the incredible benefits, potentially even decreasing the amount of time you need to recovery between bigger workouts. I used these after a 30 mile bike ride that would normally require a full day of rest before another leg-intensive workout and instead of having heavy feeling legs the next morning, they felt light, refreshed and ready to go for a quick run! The RecoveryAir is so easy and convenient, too! I use them at my work desk to aid in athletic recovery while sitting at my desk and it really helps to feel ready to perform after work! This set comes with two boots and the main base/pump, but the instructions show there are arm sleeves and a body sleeve coming! I would definitely recommend these to anyone who is looking for an easy and convenient way to recover after workout without intruding on other parts of your daily schedule! Awesome work Theragun!

If you are a moderate to serious athlete, I definitely recommend looking into these. Even leisure athletes who have found that they are not recovering quite as quickly as they used to should consider these. I was super skeptical about how much of a difference these would make in my recovery and I have been blown away that they actually work so well. My husband and I have both been using these for over a couple weeks now, with noticeable improvements in our recovery from our various athletic endeavors. I run, lift, and play volleyball routinely and he power lifts. Recently I have been playing a lot more volleyball in addition to running and lifting, which has really given me the chance test these recovery boots out. I started the first week off with weight lifting for arms one day and then legs the next. In addition to lifting, I was doing longer running workouts, and on non-lifting days I was playing multiple games of volleyball (sand and indoor). The difference in soreness between my arms-shoulders-back and legs was pretty dramatic because of these recovery boots. My arms were basically just sore throughout the week and I felt weaker / tired as a result. But my legs, while sore after each workout, they felt pretty great once I used these and rested for the night. My husband has also benefitted from using these and has noticed improvement with a minor foot injury he has been recovering from.
I do like the simplicity of this set compared to some of the others I have seen on the market. It was easy to figure everything out quickly, right out of the box. The compressor is incredibly quiet and I typical use these while watching tv. We have two cats at home and neither are bothered by the noise - curious at first but they both lost interest quickly. The battery life of the unit is impressive as well. We have gotten several uses out of a single charge. I went with the medium size as I saw reviews stating that they do run long, and they have worked perfectly for both me (5'9") and my husband (6'1"). My only complaint with these boots is that I feel like they are too big for my feet, which results in a noticeable void on the top where the zipper is. I saw that Therabody also sells additional garments just for feet (mini boot), in addition to arms and core. I would definitely consider purchasing these to use, especially if the mini boot ones are able to put more compression on the tops and arches of my feet.
Overall I have been very happy with these recovery air compression boots. I'm not sure I would have purchased these on my own due to their cost, but if given the chance to see how amazing they were beforehand, I would have been looking for them to go on sale before splurging on them.
PROs
-Surprisingly quiet
-Battery life
-Ease of use
-Variety of settings
CONs
-Storage - wish it came with a bag for storage and toting around
-Cost

Just received my TheraBody RecoveryAir Pneumatic Compression System a couple weeks ago and have been putting it through it's paces. Let must just start off by saying that I actually love this system more than I thought I would.
First off the RecoveryAir Pneumatic Compression System comes nicely packed with everything you need to get started. Upon opening the box you will find:
* RecoveryAir Pneumatic Device Console
* Two Compression Boots Leg Garments
* Blocker Plug
* DC Power Adapter (with extra Interchangeable Adapter)
To get started, simply find a nice comfortable spot to sit on your couch, bed, or pull out chair (it is recommended to not walk while wearing the compression boots). Something that I did not know until I sat down to write this review is that the RecoveryAir Pneumatic Device Console stores battery power (can store up to 8 hours of battery power). So depending on how much battery power your device has left, you may or may not have to sit close to a socket in order to use the power adapter.
Once you're settled, simply unzip or slide your legs into the compression boots. Next, plug in the long tubes connected to the boots to the console on the front of the device. What's great about this system is that you can choose to use both boots at the same time, or just one if you're only having aches in pains in one leg. And if you are only using one boot, they included a Blocker Plug to plug in the port that you're not using.
At the back of the console is the power switch, press it to turn it on and the buttons on the display with light up.
Top Display:
* Battery Light Indicator - tells you how much battery life console has left.
* Time/Minutes Button - lets you choose between 15, 30, 45, 60, or con (continuous).
* Start/Stop - lets you start and stop as you please (if needed)
Being that I've been experiencing tight and sore muscles in my legs (and knees), as well as shin splints, this product came along at the perfect time, as I've been getting ready for a couple of run/walkathons coming up in the next couple of months. Once I got suited up, I set the timer for 15 minutes. Almost instantly I could feel the compression boots inflating around both of my legs. It felt as though the muscles in my legs were being massaged. After a few seconds, the compression boots deflated and then re-inflated a few seconds later. This continued for 15 minutes. My legs felt so good after the initial run, that I ran it again for another 15 minutes.
Since trying out this system and using it almost everyday for the last couple of weeks, I have noticed less and less of the aches and pains. Very good system to have, even though it's a little pricey. But if you're on the market for a great system, then this is it. You won't regret it.

The Therabody Recovery Air Compression System is a great device for the hardcore athlete that is looking to help their body rebound after major sporting events. I am a club ultimate frisbee player and 5k runner and the RecoveryAir is the perfect system for when my legs are defeated and tired after running. The beautiful thing about this system is that you can do it while watching football or laying around the house while working. All you do is zip up the legs, plug in the attachments to the device, set the timer for the length you want and away you go. Nothing more to it than that. The chambers slowly fill up from the feet on up giving good solid compression throughout. I'm not really sure the science behind this device but all I know is when I'm done my legs come out feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, almost like a massage. My friends complain all the time about how they're tired after Ultimate frisbee and when I get home I pop these bad boys on and NEVER feel sore the next day. I think the key is to do it the night of your big athletic event to help improve circulation and blood flow and allow your legs to recover quickly. The great thing about these as well is they fold up nicely after you're done and could easily be taken with you to travel. I will get a ton of use out of these for years to come and am super happy with the purchase. I highly recommend them to anyone who is wanting to give their legs an advantage to recover quickly from sporting events that would normally leave them exhausted and defeated for a few days after. I can see now why professional athletes use these so much because they're very beneficial. If you're on the fence don't be, go and purchase these today!

I'm a big Theragun user, I'm also on my feet all day running around frequently as a courier. I've been using a cheap compression boot off Amazon, while it works... I wanted more out of it. Once Therabody annouced these boots, I was stoked to add to my collection...
While this is near perfection for my family... being a husky guy... this didn't work for me. Apparently my thighs are too big for the boot even though I ordered a LARGE. My thigh measures 29" and I couldn't zip the boots all the way. The boots are rather longer than usual too. I wanted to use this on a daily, but ended up giving it to my sister... sad.
The portability, battery powered and travel friendly size makes this a go to for your compression needs. If you can cough up the hefty price... it's worth it unless you're a husky guy like me. :(
Thanks

First things device is super easy to set up
1. Make sure you read what size inseam you are that is super important in getting thw right sleeves
2. This works without having to stay pulled in to the wall.
3. I am recovering froma injury from soccer to my foot and wouldn't you know my doctor suggested something like this. So it was a no Brainer to try it out.
4. Last the full time on both legs and you can use it for only one leg also.
A little about me. I mountain bike and play soccer. So ssore legs and faster recovery has always been something I needed. With that I have felt a difference after 2 session at first now I use it weekly to aid with therapy as suggest by my doctor.
Also don't over do the pressure setting. Get used to the lower setting first and then up it as your body can handle higher levels.
I would highly recommend it you are a active person who suffers from sore muscle or has been directed by a doctor to help with healing a injury sports related or not.

About 5 years ago I started doing long distance running and ran my first half marathon. Since then, I have completed 10Ks, half-marathons, and marathons. If I could do it over again, I wish I would have have the Therabody RecoveryAir Pneumatic Compression System from the beginning.
When training for a long-distance race, I may work up to the point where I am doing 35-40 miles a week. Late in the day or after I woke up the next day, my legs would be tight and sore. When I started running the next day, I could work it out, but this device has really changed my training. It has even helped me get rid of some mild knee pain I was experiencing after runs.
Right now, I go for a run and come back and do a nice cool down. Following, I use this unit for 15-30 minutes. When I am done, I don’t notice the leg pain and stiffness. The only time I did feel it was when I didn’t use this equipment. It has really helped me in my training. The next day I feel refreshed and can even push myself to go a little harder.
The unit has two boots which cover all the way from your feet all the way up your inseam. You then get comfortable and set the unit to your desired settings. I usually set the unit to be at a medium level, but you can find the one that suites your needs. The machine can then be set to work for 15 minutes to 60 minutes in 15-minute increments. After that, just get comfortable and let it do its work. Because the unit is rechargeable and doesn’t need to be next to an outlet to use, I chose a nice recliner and just kick back. Don’t be surprised if you nod off while the machine works.
The unit works by inflating around your feet and ankles first. Next it inflates around your calves and then to your thighs. All this works to push circulation through your legs and get rid of the build up in your muscles from the running. This cycle is repeated roughly every minute. The boots inflate and deflate. It kind of feels like a blood pressure unit inflating but covering your entire legs.
I will say I was a little worried when I first went to use the system. Reading through the documentation it does warn about people with circulation or clotting problems using the device. I would recommend reading this information to make sure everything is good for you. Just to get comfortable with it, I tried it on a low setting first. After that, I moved up the intensity.
I highly recommend the Therabody - RecoveryAir Pneumatic Compression System. This system helps me recover from my workouts and gets me ready to run the next day. If I could give more than five stars, I would. I don't know if I will Personal Best my next race, but I feel like I just might.

As a cross country coach who is on their feet all the time, I can say that these boots meet my expectations for recovery. They improve my blood flow and increase the speed of the healing process. You can go as long as you want but after 15 mins, my legs feel like new.
I will say the large size fits my long legs perfectly, [im 6'3"] but I wouldn't recommend getting them if you have relatively big thighs. They won't be able to zip up all the way, thus making the boots ineffective.

I am a regular runner but not a professional one. I am in my fifties with and with an average of 25 to 30 miles per week in his legs, to avoid injuries or to take care of soreness and contracted muscles I believe, and use compression gear and technology.
After running and testing the Theragun boots, I can confirm that this model of compression boots, massaging with air pressure on my legs after a big run is an effective method of recovery. I am not a doctor but it works for me. Once the boots are placed, the air chambers filled with air following a pattern serve to apply a controlled pressure and air release to different zones of your leg muscles playing over the blood circulation. This pressure and air movement work over the muscles naturally filled with blood and serves to speed the recovery and to feel less soreness in the legs. While you can select the massage duration, I see the effects after only a one-hour session.
In full transparency, I used this method before because I also own a different (but older model) of compression boots from a different brand. However, I was attracted by the Theragun model by the more manageable size of its air compressor (the device that pusses the air into the boots) and it didn’t disappoint me.
In general, I like that Theragun in comparison with the others:
1.- I mentioned the portability and I confirm that the full size of the kit: compressor, boots, and power cord fit in a small gym bag. This converts this boot into my equipment while traveling. However, knowing that this is a comparative advantage with other brands, I would appreciate if they include a transport bag as part of the kit (currently not there).
2.- All is built in a high-quality material: boots’ fabric and zippers, that seems to guaranty you a long term use. The simplicity of the compressor is also appreciated.
3.- The boot has a great design for the bottom part of the boot that addaptes great to my feet. The ergonomy benefits the recovery of my ankle and calves.
4.- The massage can be applied over one single leg if needed. With one single compressor and two air expellers, Theragun included a device that allows you to close one and use only one boot.Simple and effective.
5.- A quite decent battery time, you don’t need to be connected to the power supply all the time.
6.- They have several sizes that serve different sizes. I am a 5.11 guy and the boots in a medium size are exactly fitting my legs. When pressuring the right muscles of your leg it’s the key for the technology, I will recommend avoiding those one-size boots of other brands.
What I am less excited about and reason for the 4 stars:
1.- While the machine allows regulating the level of air preasure and the time of the preasure, the massage pattern is unique. The massage always starts in your feet and goes up to your quads, deflating and restarting again. There is no way to control pressure only in some zones or follow a different patern: from the quads down or with defining more time in a sore zone like the calves.
2.- The positive aspect of simplicity is also a lack of a digital tool to interact with your equipment. No app to change or define routines, all are manually done. The app also could serve to guide your recovery, or as a keeper of historical data.
3.- Lack of carrying bag included in the kit to keep and protect a piece of expensive equipment.
The main conclusion, I like the boots I trust the technology and the portability. I miss more product development for more specific routines.

Simple Recovery Tool

First thing’s first, I run at least every other day and road bike a few times a week. I also have an IT band injury that never went away which causes my knee to ache after a long run or when I bike for more than an hour. Now, I’ve used the RecoveryAir system for about two weeks and I can say they are worth it. When I started using the RecoveryAir, my IT band and calve were hurting from a 12 mile bike ride, so I decided this was a great time to try out the RecoveryAir. After two 30 minute sessions (you can choose 15, 30, 45, or 60 mins) I noticed my knee pain was reduced dramatically. After 4 sessions, my pain was gone. With that being said, my pain came back after another heavy running and cycling day. That is 100% my fault since I need to be better about stretching and doing my physical therapy exercises. This will not replace fundamentals like stretching but it definitely helps with recovery.
I also have used the RecoveryAir after leg day at the gym and noticed I am not as sore the following few days. I typically will get extremely sore the second day after leg day, but when I used the RecoveryAir the level of soreness was not as bad as it usually is. I also like that I can choose how much pressure I want the RecoveryAir to produce. When my knee was feeling really bad, I cranked this bad boy to 100 and I FELT the pressure. It wasn’t comfortable but it was worth the relief I felt after the 30 minute session was done. I know these bad boys will come in handy the day I get back from my next hiking trip! The biggest con is that you are not able to select where to put more pressure or attention. To do that, you need to buy the pro version. On this version, you can only select the amount of time and the device goes into a preprogrammed recovery compression and decompression routine. Another nice feature is that it is portable (kind of). The air pump battery lasts for about 6 hours after charging it up but the boot sleeves do not deflate 100% which makes it a pain to store away and impacts the portability. In addition, these don’t come with a storage case which adds on to the portability an issue. I think including a carrying case would make sense, considering this is a class 2 medical grade device according to the FDA.
At the end of the day I highly recommend this for anyone that defines themselves as an athlete or physically active and I plan to buy the chest and arm attachment since I have greatly appreciated the results. Again, this is a recovery tool and will not eliminate soreness but it speeds up the process and could prevent injuries from you overusing a muscle, ligament, or tendon.

Perfect for your average athletic consumer who wants to invest in something that helps speed up recovery rate and also for the average consumer who wants the benefits of better circulation, blood flow, and reduction of blood lactate that builds up during exercise.
Let's get down to the actual device. The RecoveryAir arrives all packaged up where you'll find:
*RecoveryAir Pneumatic Device Console
*2 Compression Boots (size varies on what you choose)
*Blocker plug
*DC Power adapter
Standing at an impressive 5"4, I ordered the size small compression boots, which sit snuggly. Once you receive your package, I highly recommend charging the console to full battery life - which can also be done while you're undergoing the treatment. Next, find a comfortable position, whether sitting or lying down. Of course, you're going to want to limit your movement for the treatment to be effective - you're NOT going to want to stand up and walk around with these boots on. After cycling or hitting the stair master (and after stretching and showering), I usually opt for lying down on my bed, watching some videos, reading a book, and, dare I say I take a short nap? Having lost a few pounds that I gained during the pandemic, I noticed that my legs tend to get more swollen than previously. To which, my physician advised me to wear compression socks to help with the circulation and swelling. I swapped out the compression socks for the compression boots and never looked back.
Once the boots are all zipped up and plugged into the device console, I set the treatment time anywhere between 30-45minutes on average, but if I have a lot of time to spare or want a nice power nap, I'll go up to 60 minutes. I also appreciate that there is a 15-minute interval for the quick sessions. As for setting the pressure, I was told that the max setting should be your diastolic pressure (the bottom number of your blood pressure). In my case, it was set at 70.
Throughout the session, the device goes through multiple cycles of expanding the boots, starting at the foot up to the upper thigh and exhale - mimicking blood flow. Picture this - image having a blood pressure cuff at every part of your leg inflating one right after the other, and once all is inflated - a quick release/exhale follows after. Once the session is completed, the compression boots will have been deflated, and the light indicator on the console goes from green to a light blue.
Once the session is complete and your legs are free from the boots, don't be worried about how your legs will look - the indents are pretty normal, especially if you're prone to leg swelling. That will be gone in a few minutes. Having used it for a few weeks now - I love the feeling of finishing up a treatment, like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon. Okay, maybe a bit exaggerated, but you will notice the difference between the treatment and the end. Not sure if this also happens to everyone else, but every time I finish using the device, maybe it's because of the leg swelling, I immediately have to pee. Not complaining about that, but it was an interesting observation.
A few of the drawbacks of the device is that by no means is it quiet. The inflation of the boots was pretty average/expected, but at certain moments, the console would squeak. And one thing that caught me entirely off guard was how loud the exhale was - like a loud "POOOOOF." Other than that, the device itself is excellent for its intended purpose - speeding up recovery post-exercise. However, I would like to see improvements on the noise level and a better notification system of when the session is complete - i.e. a beeping noise.
Overall, for it's price point and the benefits it provides I'd recommend this.
