I like the fact that this phone is so easy to use and holds its charge very well. I upgraded from a 3G because the old one began having charging issues that I think I may have inadvertently caused. The J1 is small enough to fit in my purse easily but large enough to find without trouble. The camera is very good for a phone, and knowing that I have no contract to manage is a huge plus!

I bought this phone because I was locked into a Verizon contract and needed a phone to temporarily replace the phone I was contracted into. I'm no phone expert and have not had a ton of phone experience (only had the iphone 4 and LG Lucid) but this phone is still a good quality for such a cheap price. When I first got it, it would have some problems freezing but it has gotten better now. Camera quality isn't amazing but it's usable. The battery life is pretty good, I'm not on my phone 24/7 but when I am it still lasts a pretty long time. This phone has survived a fall in the toilet and still works perfectly

I upgraded to this phone from my Samsung Galaxy Legend. I'm quite happy with it. The few gripes I have are the battery size (although the battery lasts quite a while when idle or in ultra power saving mode) and RAM. I constantly have to reboot the phone when using apps, especially games like Fallout Shelter or Jurassic World.
Other than that, I don't have any complaints. It's easy to use and if I ever have a question about a feature, Verizon has the manual online.

I got this phone as a backup for an elderly parent who has an older flip phone and doesn't text, and has been known to hang up the landline phone only halfway. This is a great way to get around those issues - the phone can't ever be "off the hook" and you only pay for the actual time you talk on it! Like most Samsung phones it's very easy to use, has excellent features - if you want a low-cost, no contract Smartphone that can handle basic functions like email, etc., this is a good deal.

Definetly the way to go! We are in the process of switching from Verizon to Consumer Cellular, and my wife needed to replace her phone with about a year left on her contract. She has always preferred Samsung, and got this phone for a lot less $$ than the advertised names that Verizon/ Sprint uses. Just as good of a phone, for $99, instead of $5-600 they want for the other phones. A+++++++

This is a great and inexpensive version of the Galaxy S line. We purchased it for a friend who was new to smart phones. She loves it and learned how to use it very quickly. It does most of the same functions as the S line but at a lower cost

I purchased this as an upgrade to my previous cellphone, which was a no-frills flip phone. This one is much better, but the 8 Gigs of memory is quickly filled since only 4 Gigs are actually available. I did purchase an SD card to expand the memory, but many of the apps cannot be ported over to the SD card. Music and video can, however, so it's quite useful in that way. Overall, I'm very pleased with this as a good basic smartphone.

This is a good phone for the money. Good camera. Plenty of memory. Lots of useful features. The team at Best Buy is the greatest. They help transfer contacts, pictures, etc. and were very professional, knowledgeable and helpful.

I was looking for a replacement mp3 player. This replaced it and also had the features of a mini tablet. I use it as an mp3 player/tablet w/o activating the phone feature as I have an old flip phone that is good enough for my purposes. I also got one for my grandson for the same reasons. Excellent bang for the buck. Just have to be around wifi for non-downloaded content.

I was a long time user of the Blackberry and really liked its keyboard, but was also used to the screen based keyboard of my IPod Touch and that helped with switching to the Samsung Galaxy J1. I am so pleased with the features and functionality of this phone. It does exactly what I need it to do, when I need it to do it. I would recommend it to anyone. When my friends tell me they paid $600 for their IPhone 6, I just laugh. Samsung is killing it. I will continue to use their phones based on my experience with this model.

My family finally convinced me to get a smart phone and trash my flip phone. I'm glad I did. I'm still learning things about the phone (my 10 year old granddaughter helps me) and I am enjoying it. It is a great phone for someone just getting with newer technology and I am very pleased with the size.

I purchased this phone to use as a learning tool. The phone is easy to use and now I am investigating the apps. My biggest concern is being solicited by unwanted calls (callers). So far I have no regrets and if I find apps that will help me I will upgrade to another model as required.

For the price the phone is pretty good - light weight with a decent battery life - I found myself using it as a mobile hotspot via Foxfi - the power capacity was such that I barely noticed the usage.
All in all, a great little phone. It is, alas, not a Tmobile phone, which is what I had to switch to more recently.

I had bought an unlocked phone and had to use TMobile which is awful in this area. Decided to go back to Verizon Prepaid. The salesman recommended this phone. I like that it has an micro SD slot. The camera is ok. It's fine for the money.

Have never had a prepaid plan, but went with Verizon and the Samsung Galaxy J1. The phone is adequate for all my needs, including the web. My son thinks his lags too much, but I'm never in that big of hurry. Good battery life so far.
