Best headset I've ever used, BUT...

...they are not the best value out there. That goes to the Astro A40 TR w/ Mixamp Bundle (both the Elite Pro and A40 are on sale at BB as I write this). At suggested retail price, to get the same functionality (albeit with a few more features) as the A40, you will have to spend an additional $100 for the Elite Pro to get the Tactical Audio Controller, and while in my opinion, the Elite Pro headset is superior, it's nowhere near $100 superior. The A40s are certainly comparable and only slightly behind. The Elite Pro feels sturdy. Everything about its construction and feel screams quality. The Astro A40 was previously the most comfortable headset I've had, but the Elite Pro is better. Leather ear cups feel much better than the cloth of the A40, and to top it off they are filled with a cool gel rather than plain foam. They seal against your head and do a much better job of isolating the wearer from ambient noise than the A40s. That's also a problem as the Elite Pros do not have any sort of mic monitoring. To get that, you have to purchase a $40 adapter, or the $150 Tactical Audio Controller. To be fair however if you wanted the A40 to be sound isolating you'd have to spend another $60 for the mod kit. Still... Sound quality was crisp and clean, but again out of the box the Elite Pro is simply a stereo headset with less than minimum accessories -- it doesn't even come with a mic/audio splitter to provide separate plugs for voice and audio that is required on most PCs -- you have to purchase the adapter separately. The overall sound was slightly better than the A40 without the mixamp. For 7.1 virtual surround, you'll have to spend the $150 for the Elite Pro TAC. The A40 with the mixamp bundle provides this out of the box, and this combination provided superior sound over the Elite Pro without the optional $150 TAC. Turtle Beach really missed the mark with the Elite Pro. It's arguably the best gaming headset on the market, but by not bundling the Elite Pro Tactical Audio Controller (T.A.C.) at a competitive price point, it's simply not as good a value as the Astro A40 TR with Mixamp, and it just doesn't offer enough advantage from a comfort/quality/performance standpoint to make up the difference. The only downside of the Mixamp TR that I found is that you need 2 of them if you have both a PS4/PC and Xbox One. Unlike the TAC (which works on all of those), the Mixamp is an either/or -- you can't move it from one to the other. In summary, if Turtle Beach had an Elite Pro Headset / Tactical Audio Controller bundle at a similar price point as the A40 TR/Mixamp TR bundle, I would've given it a 5 star rating, but despite how good the Elite Pro headset is, I just can't do that due to its inferior value (bang for the buck). I'll still recommend it, but with the exception of some specific situations or "sale" prices, the Astro TR with Mixamp TR is a much better value. You built a great headset, Turtle Beach... now stop being cheap with the accessories and make your fantastic headset a better value.

First off, you WILL need the T.A.C. Controller to use this headset properly. That being said, here's what I think: I didn't want to give this headset a chance. Coming from an Astro A50, I wanted to find flaws in this TB headset. I couldn't. Not when using with the T.A.C. Controller. The DTS surround sound is on point and will blow you away. I'm a die hard Rainbow Six Siege player on the PS4 and this headset blew away the Astro A50s. The sound was so accurate in fact, that I could hear and kill the enemy on the ceiling precisely. Movies sound fantastic, especially a 5.1 DTS version...really changes your experience. Build quality is top notch. Looks premium. The ear pads are very comfortable and have a "cooling gel" infused on the surface. It feels like one of those cooling pads you use on your knee, it's great. The mic works well. I would have preferred a more premium look, but it does its job. It resembles the HyperX Cloud 2. Downside is that it's ridiculous expensive to buy the headset with the TAC controller. I'm not sure if the price is justified. But after using ALL of the top end headsets, this combo was the best and I don't say that lightly.

Excellent headset from Turtle Beach. Recently changed from Astro A50's to these. I enjoyed the wireless functionality of the A50 but the battery life wasnt the greatest and the adapter for the controller that came with A50 would cut out requiring me to reset my controller. After a few times of this I decided to change out and go back to Turtle Beach. I have owned the X12 wired when I used my Xbox 360 and LOVED them. They were super comfortable, rugged, and sounded great so i decided to try the Elite Pro's. The build quality is fantastic and you can tell it was well thought out before releasing. The gel they use in the earpieces allows me to play for extended session and, unlike the A50's, my ears don't get hot or sweat which was an issues with my Astro's. The 3.5mm headphone cable is a nice feature too and can be used with the 3.5mm port that's in the newer XB1 controllers or using the chat adapter. Sound is an issue, not for me but for others that have these headphones. They sound decent for what they are but could be much better for a $200 set. Which if you read reviews is a common complaint for users. That being said, i was prepared for this and purchased the MixAmp PRO from Astro (love their amps, headsets no so much) and the sound quality improved significantly. So if you decide to purchase the headset I would get an amp to whether it be an Astro or TB's Tactical Controller. The MixAMP is my recommendation and its a quality products. Plus both of these products allowed me to be more comfortable while streaming as well. In the end you wont be disappointed in the long run with this headset. Pros: -Excellent Build Quality -Wired with a 3.5mm plug -Gel earpieces are extremely comfortable. -Adjustable Cons: -Sound quality is sub par for a $200 headset w/o an Amp -Larger heads may find these uncomfortable. So thats my review. Hope it helps you out!

As an avid sound lover, and someone who has invested thousands of dollars into sound systems, headphones, and headsets, I expect nothing but the best when it comes to sound. With that being said, I have always been a fan of Turtle Beach headsets as they have always (at least every pair I've owned) had great, balanced sound. I was looking to replace an older set of Turtle Beaches (After having them for almost four years), and upon reading reviews and product descriptions, I decided I would give these a try. Upon putting these on, I noticed they were extremely comfortable and did not put pressure on my glasses at all. They had good weight to them, not too heavy on the head, and not too cheap feeling in the hand. However, as soon as I plugged them into my controller, I began to notice the sound was much lower than my older pair of Turtle Beaches (XO Four), oh well I thought, I can always raise the volume through Xbox itself. Once I booted up a game, the loading menu's sounded awful. The sound was so flat that it began to make me feel disoriented. These headsets only seem to thrive in the high's. The mid's are muffled and barely noticeable, and the low's are absolutely non-existent. Just to be sure that it wasn't my Xbox, I took the headset and plugged it directly to my iPhone, and began shuffling songs. Sure enough each song sounded flat with no depth whatsoever. Turtle Beach offers a mixer that you fan buy for another $200. Who would want to and why should you pay $400+ to have an enjoyable sound experience? My $80 Turtle Beach XO Fours sound perfect compared to this headset. If you place a high priority on accurate, balanced, and rich sound, PLEASE do not buy these. I would recommend the Turtle Beach XO Four headset, as they are light, comfortable, and sound great, with nice high's, mid's, and low's.

I bought this headset to replace my old PlayStation headset. I used turtle beach when I had XBOX and loved them. I was willing to upgrade and get a serious headset so I went with the Elite pro. When I bought these I expected booming sound, like most TB headsets but that's a big fat negative. The little sound it has is okay for no amp and comfort is top notch but like I said this headset NEEDS an amp for it to function like a pro headset. I bought their AMP booster for the PS4 ($20) because I wasn't willing to throw down extra $200 for the Tac AMP after a $200 purchase of headphones. When I received the PS4 Sound booster it literally did nothing to improve the sound. It was no different from plugging them in to the controller. It sounded exactly the same. If you want the top of the line set up and have money to spend, then get these WITH the tac amp. The sound sucks with out it. The price point is ridiculous for quality of the sound. You can get top of the line Astro's with sound Amp for $100 cheaper. I was very disappointed with Turtle beach. I also reached out to their customer service department about accessory sound booster and the response I received was "We'll answer your question in 2-3 business days." After I received that statement, I returned these for Astro50's. Just as comfortable and the sound is excellent. PRO's -Comfortable!!!! -Clear mic -Great sound with Tac AMP Cons -Extra $200 for Tac Amp -Price point for just headset alone -Below average sound with out the AMP - Accessories don't work. (Don't bother buying the PS4 booster. It does nothing for it)

First off know beforehand that I am a huge fan of Astro headsets. I have owned various models of both the A40 and A50 models. I also have owned other headsets from Turtle Beach however I have never found their comfort or build quality on par with Astro's models. Enter the Elite Pro and boy have things changed. The build quality on these is eexcellent . They have a metal frame so they should be very durable. Comfort wise and I can't believe I'm saying this but they feel better than my current Astro A40tr model. The suspension frame feels great for extended play sessions and the era cushions are the best I have ever had on a headset. For my review on sound quality please know that I did not purchase the additional TAC from Turtle Beach as I used my current Astro Mixamp Pro TR model for the Xbox One. So my sound experience is judging the sound and mic quality of both. Sound wise, the Elite Pros sound better to me overall. I was able to pinpoint gunfire direction and location much more precisely than I could with my Astros. I also heard little details I had never noticed before. As for mic quwlity, again the Elite Pros sounded much better which didn't surprise me since Turtle Beach typically has decent mics. Ovrrall, I highly recommend the headset however I do feel that you nneed to have either the TAC or a Mixamp to get the most out of these.

Has a pretty good sound for my needs, I can tell if an opponent is coming from left or right. I do wish this had a way to turn volume off on all teammates if they are making sounds without having to mute them in the middle of a game. I would prefer them also having a little more volume, but I'm sure this is safer for my future hearing. Great set for $140 when they were on sale for reward zone members. I have ordered the spare part called the TAC but volume remains the same but I like being able to hear my voice to avoid getting too loud for my fellow gamers. Very sturdy compared to my previous wireless sets that broke after 1 year each. I do miss the wireless part but it is not huge after getting use to the wire drooping from the left earpiece. Worth it so far, much sturdier then my previous TB stealth 500s.

I purchased the Turtle Beach Elite Pro headset to replace a cheap $40 pair that has been good but finally wore out. i did research on this headset and only seen good things. when i opened the box it looked like a good buy, but i noticed the cord was not usb and only a headset plug. when i plugged it into my pc the sound worked but no mic output. i looked it up online a turtle beach said i need a splitter to make it work with pc even though it is advertised to work with pc. so after ordering the splitter it now works however you cant hear yourself like you can on other headsets and the inline volume control only controls master volume. also the cord is only 4 feet long and cant reach my pc ports! because it has no usb you cant use the turtle beach earforce audio hub to adjust settings, your just stuck with a cheep volume knob. another thing is i see people saying this headset will keep your ears cool? thats a lie, at first they are cool 10 minutes later they are just as hot as a $40 pair of headsets. i would not recommend this headset to anyone.

Had to go with one star ("poor") as two stars ("fair") is just not the correct rating to give this product. The sound quality is okay, nothing really that impressive. Where this headset shines is in comfort and that is simply because Turtle Beach is known for making really uncomfortable headsets in the past so this one stands out. The suspension headband works well at reducing the weight of the headset, although the adjustment sliders for the suspension headband are useless. They made no difference when adjusted one way or the other. The earcups are soft and do help to alleviate the heat build up around your ears. For the asking price this headset is "okay" at best. Sound quality is not terrible but it isn't great either. They're pretty comfortable but what we mustn't forget is the price tag. There are far more superior headsets, in both audio quality and comfort, out there for less money than these. The Hyper X clouds are one, the AudioTechnica ATH PG1 is another, the ASTRO A40 headset is yet another example. Hope this helps.

    BEST TURTLE BEACH HEADSET!

This headset is the best headset I have ever owned from turtle beach, I use it for my xbox one and bought the noise canceling microphone with it. I highly recommend it if you are in a noisy household and want to shut out everything and everyone around you. Sound quality is amazing with 5.1 surround sound and 7.1 if you use the mix amp. Also the Comfort-tec glasses relief system works as it was advertised! I wear glasses all the time and used to get headaches from all the pressure put on them, well with this headset there are straps to adjust the amount of pressure your glasses receive and my headaches have stopped because of this. All in all an amazing headset by turtle beach and provides comfort and precision quality.

I had always shopped at GameStop for gaming accessories but had horrible service my last 3 visits, including online. I decided to see what Best Buy offered online. I saw what I was interested in and that it was available in a store close to me. The customer service was incredible and checkout was fast. I was also offered an excellent warranty that far exceeded any offered at GameStop. I was already a Turtle Beach fan and was looking forward to using my new headset. They are the most comfortable pair I have ever had. The adjustable headpiece is fantastic. I was looking for headsets that offer separate chat and gaming volume which this offers and is not easy to find. I am extremely happy with my purchase and will continue shopping at Best Buy for gaming needs.

I read and watched several reviews before purchasing the TB Elite Pro headphones and I also own the Astro A40 TR Xbox Edition. I wanted the same or better sound while playing on my PS4. The TB Elite Pros fit the bill. Sound quality is better than the A40's even running off the Astro Mixamp on my Xbox One. By better I mean cleaner sound overall with a better surround sound effects the A40's are very good headphones but the TB have them beat by a fair margin. The day I brought the TB's home it didn't take long to figure out I wanted TB's mixamp (TAC) too which I would have purchased at the same time if it would have been in stock. The TB TAC will add Dolby 7.1 and several other modes to get the full TB Elite Pro experience. The TB are pricey but they sound a lot better than the Astros and are more comfortable withought having to purchase a upgrade pack like the A40's. I think there worth the extra investment.

I got this for my husband so he can upgrade from a 20$ ones. It looks great, the built and the quality looks and feels premium. I love how its not the stock green! Being plug and play, the adjustable tension and the gap for the glasses are A1 for me having glasses and him having a large head! My only complaint about the headset is that without the TAC the mic was too sensitive, Id be in a a party on xbox with him and If I speak I can hear my self through his mic! Not like an echo from the unit but because we were in the same room! I can even hear my keyboard clicks! I have my own headset that doesn't pick up my keyboard or him (unless he rages) So for something this price I would have expected at least some background noise canceling without the TAC.

First things first, this product is being reviewed without the mix amp. I was looking for a comfortable pair of headphones first and decided not to get the amp until i was happy with the fit and boy am I happy. These are super comfortable. The ear cups are super soft and breathable. Everyone has a different sized head but these fithings me very nice. My cap size is 7 1/4 so if your around that size expect a good fit. The sound is actually pretty good without the amp. No hollow sounding cans here (for the price I expected them to sound decent) firm tight bass and crisp but not piercing highs. The mic is clear but without the amp I can't adjust game vs. Chat volume. Also i do miss the flip up mic off option of my A40's. So out the box without the amp I'd say best 2 channel headset out there. I'll be purchasing the amp and reviewing again.

only reason i am giving them a 3 is so hopefully turtle beach picks up on this review, i'd give them a 4 however. awesome headset though. the shelf display does this no justice. half the time broken or just weird setup. >> the ear cups fit probably best of all that i have had, the mic is way more sturdy and not in my face, i like the headband tightening and how the ear cups rotate so when they are off my head i can have them on my chest better. i do however notice they are a much heavier headphone. doesn't mean they weigh me down and my neck gets tired or anything but when i tilt my head down they slide a little which right now is starting to get annoying however the volume pickup is better off the bat and overall honestly they are a dope set of headphones

I wear a 7 3/8 fitted hat so my head isn’t huge, it’s just a little wide. This headset felt like it was squeezing my head a bit too tight. I hooked it up to an Astro Mixamp Pro TR and played Black Ops 3. I felt the sound was really comfortable and enjoyable. Although the grenade explosions did sound a bit muffled. I want to try the T.A.C. audio controller but might not get it as I can’t pair it with an official Turtle Beach headset because it was too tight. I might get the T.A.C. and pair it with another more comfortable headset to see how it sounds. Overall the sound was comfortable and enjoyable but a little bit muffled at certain loud explosion parts. The sound of this headset is good for long gaming sessions as the sound is annoying at all. However, the fit of this headset is too small.

purchased the head set in hopes of replacing my old turtle beach headset I got from a few black Fridays ago. When I took the headset out of the packaging, it felt extremely sturdy. Very well made product, but I also felt the weight behind it. I tested the headset out with Destiny: Iron: Rise of Iron and it sounds phenomenal! You can feel the bass behind every gun shot! Everything sounded extremely clear. The price reflects the quality of the product. A few of the cons are: I wish it came with a sound remote to control the voice/chat and game volume like some of their other products do. Another was the weight of the headset. The headset fit snug and comfortable around my ears but the weight eventually make my neck tired after an hour or so of gaming.

I got these to replace my Turtle Beach XO4s thinking the sound would be better. First I will say they are the most comfortable headset I’ve ever worn. But this headset clearly was not made for consoles. Very low volume for consoles. When plugged into the controller, the highest volume is still not very loud and the sound quality in general is not impressive(minimal Bass, even with the audio adapter) I expected more for $200. Due to high impedience, These require an amplifier to really bring out good sound. I highly recommend the HyperX Cloud Revolver S. Just got them a week ago when I exchanged these and they are better in every way.

it's actually a little dumb how this headset like other turtle beach tournament items were made and desired around pro players and they still mess it up. overall the sound quality increased i noticed i am picking up little details in games i never recognized before so that was cool. mic is sturdy and definitely better than others. however, the things keep sliding off my head! i don't have a small head this is crazy. i have short hair maybe that makes a difference smh. but because they way more, and now looking at them, i notice the center of mass is actually pushed forward from the ear cup, they actually slip down when i tilt my head. i will give them a couple more days but come on guys like wth

This is the nicest headset I have ever had. The only pair of headphones that I have owned that would even compare are some Bose over ears, which cost more, but I would have to say the TB pros are much better sounding, and more comfortable. With basically any other headset than Turtle Beach, I tend to get echo in party chat, which can be extremely annoying and makes people not want to party up. I have never had that problem with any TB headset. The only slight downside about this headset I would say is it is a bit heavy, but the only time i notice this is on flights when I am leaning forward on the tray table.
