I enjoy using the camera feature for keepsake pics as well as sending off one way or another to sharing with others. I use the music feature for my work outs and navigation when traveling. I am continuely learn more about the many apps the more I use the apps. I am over 50 and not tech savvy. My phone is good for me

motoG 1st gen replacement, HTC 526 or MotoE?

My MotoG after almost 2 years was finally acting up. It held up well considering how much I used it for my job and how many times I dropped it. The protective case probably helped.
Side by side to the MotoE the specs look fairly similar, however the Moto E lacks a flash for the camera and a notification light. I utilize the flash as a flashlight regularly so the MotoE was out. However you do get a MicroSD card slot, a bigger battery and the 4G network.
Three things that are upgrades from the MotoG to the HTC is the 4G network, 500mb of ram extra, MicroSD card slot and a slightly larger screen, primarily the length of the screen. I run about 8-9mb/s with prepaid 4g and the ram seems to improve processing of heavier apps. The slightly slower processor isn't too noticeable in regular every day apps or apps I use for work but I did notice a couple games seem to run choppy in comparison to the MotoG. Screen brightness is comparable and the temperature is cooler. Don't be fooled by the front facing speakers, it is only for looks and not stereo sound. Since this phone doesn't have a notification light, I installed "Easy Reminder" app to audibly remind me of a notification. The camera has some nice features such as on screen adjust of ISO, EV and White Balance. The auto focus seems responsive. Image quality is pretty typical to most budget phones. The size of the battery did concerns me. It has only a 2000mAh battery in comparison to the old MotoG with 2070mAh and the 2nd generation MotoE 2390mAh. There is also the HTC 626 with a bigger screen and better quality shell but it still only uses a 2000mAh battery, which is stupid.
I felt software was a mix bag. It didn't wow me but I am not missing my MotoG as much. The phone uses Lollipop 5.1 so there shouldn't be any memory leaks. Lollipop's new status bar tools are handy but the notification lock screen is too easy to unlock. Actually I was using Next screen lock by Microsoft on my MotoG and it is far better so I decided to install it on the HTC. Sound profile settings seem to be a bit limited in comparison to Moto Assist so I installed "Profile Scheduler." Lollipop does have a new user profile settings that is kid friendly. The "Car" driving mode app is more complete then Moto Assist and doesn't seem to cut me off too quickly when I reply back to a text when using my bluetooth. The message+ app has some interesting features such as auto emoji. Like for example the word "check", "home", "eat" or "love" a bubble appears around the word giving me the option to select a matching emoji, sometimes multiple options. Oddly some apps didn't use this message app as the default when using the share button even though HTC setup the app as the first option on the home screen. I also had message+ crash a few times so I decided to just use the stock android message app. I found myself installing extra apps or changing defaults to emulate features I liked with my MotoG. Perhaps that is just a preference and I am just picky.
If having a camera flash or flashlight isn't important to you, I would recommend the MotoE. For the HTC 526, the extra ram, marginally bigger screen and looks are nice but the battery is a down fall. It should still get through a day with light or moderate use however you'll probably be reaching for the charger by supper time. The HTC is still a pretty good phone and it has comparable specs overall but some of the app instability is noticeable in comparison to a 2 year old phone so I can only give it an average rating.

Bought this phone for my wife and we decided to go with another HTC model since her previous phone was an HTC Droid DNA. So far she is loving it. It's performance is just great. it is fast, smooth and very responsive. So far there has been no freezing whatsoever. HTC is well know for making excellent phones.

This was a step up in camera quality from my last phone. I don't know if this is normal, but I have found I have to shut off the data as much as possible, because the apps keep running and sucking through data even though I am not using it. This may be normal, but it seems like I have to add extra data more often with this phone than my Moto Luge that I had before this phone. Overall a good phone. I did buy one for my son, too. Be forewarned that it is difficult to transition from your prior phone to this one. I could not just take the old sim card and insert it. So it was much more labor intensive to transfer contacts and pictures. Also, make sure to switch phones when you would normally add your data. Otherwise, you will be greatly hasseled with trying to get Verizon to transfer your existing data. They want to make you reload your monthly plan fee. Thanks to a Best Buy employee and 2 1/2 hours of him dealing with Verizon, he got everything transferred, but I would NEVER attempt this by myself. I have never experienced this problem with any other prepay Verizon phone. This was definitely a HTC problem.

This phone has only a few shortfalls for the price. The processor is fine and the camera is okay. It has the latest software which is good. If the screen were a little bigger and the battery life better it would be a home run!

Bought my son this phone after he lost his previous one..I also have this phone.. does everything we need it to do. Pictures not as good as previous phone but for $89. It's a great phone.. we did have to order cases from separate place as best buy didn't carry one and no way I'm handing my 14 Year old a cell without one!

I bought this phone for my bf who is a plumber and always goes through phones quickly. He loves it because it's fast, sleek, and the camera is good. The only downfall is that there aren't really any cases for it.

Good camera; overall good phone.
Takes getting used to after using LG phone for several years.
Not a fan of Google + with balloon pics that can replace the word in the text.
Using only to be able send multiple pics through text.
Regular text app only allows 1 attachment at a time.
Variety of cases are available on line.
Had difficultly finding previous prepaid phone cases on line or locally.

Bought this for my best friend's birthday and so far she loves it. She previously had an iPhone 4s with AT&T. The carrier did not have good signal and the iPhone was old and not able to update with new OS.

I had the more expensive HTC desire and was having trouble with it so I got this HTC and it performs better than desire it seems faster and the pictures are more vibrant. I loved the desire but dollar for dollar this is better. Hopefully I will feel the same as time goes on because prepaid phone's are in my experience not reliable for long. Let this one prove me wrong

What is sad is that the battery doesn't last very long. There is no cases for them which sucks big time. Since I tend to drop things accidently sometimes. If I could I would get a regular Verizon account. I do not like pre-paid phones, but I have no choice at this time. My ex didn't pay his Verizon bills, and my name was on it.

This is a very decent phone for the money. My son got one of the less expensive no contract and it was awful! You really need to spend a little more to get a decent cell phone. This is a decent cell phone.

This phone is not as good as reviews says.
Con: This list is long, but just going to list the few really annoying ones right now.
Trouble switching automatically from Wi-Fi to Data.
Screenshot capability not that easy to do.
Keyboard, made up weird words.
Text messages under Wi-Fi gets delivered super late, sometimes a day after.
Pro: Great battery life
Light weight
Good looking design.
