    Good "Basic" TV for Seniors

This 50-inch Visio (E50-E3) is a great TV for seniors on a limited budget. It’s hard to beat its $399 price. I found it easy to connect this TV to my DISH satellite TV system; a cable/ WiFi system works just as well. The picture quality and color is excellent. CAUTION: You will need to buy a tuner and antenna for free over-the-air reception. An auto-SETUP narrative appears on the screen when you power up this TV for the first time. Seniors can skip the complex WiFi setup by pressing the “arrow-Enter” button on the TV’s remote (center of circle). NOTE: This system is designed primarily for the “NOW generation” who will connect this TV to their smart phone or tablet. If you skip the complex WiFi setup process, you wind up with a “Model-T” remote controller; that is, a remote that lacks a numeric keypad to select channels. Instead, there is a “+ or –“ button to change channels. But this is OK for me, because I use the numeric keypad on my DISH remote to select desired channels. Aside from the missing keypad, the TV’s remote controller works very well. It has buttons to easily adjust color, sound, aspect ratio, input, as well as a mute, power, and channel UP/DOWN button. My only disappointment is an annoying amount of “pixel flutter” when I watch football games. This only occurs when the camera switches to distant aerial and fans-in-the-stands views. Since I don’t see this occurring in store displays, I suspect the cause is a data-delay in my DISH satellite feed. No pixel-flutter occurs for close-up shots of field activities, players, refs, etc. BOTTOM LINE: “You get what you pay for”. If you want a large-screen full-feature TV with a better remote controller, buy a more expensive brand/model. As a basic no-frills TV, this one is great for normal TV shows and news, as well as DVD or streaming movies.

Pairing glitches take too much time

Beautiful picture quality for movies and games. I assume that it is great for tv as well if that is your thing. The downside of owning this "smart" tv is that it isn't smart at all except when paired with a wireless device like an iPhone or iPad. It requires downloading the Visio Smartcast app. Every other time I use it the phone won't communicate with the tv. First time I called tech assistance and eventually after uninstalling apps, resetting phone, refreshing tv, resetting tv to factory original, re-pairing, re- instilling app and the long process of set up, it works. I have had to do this process twice since that time. Each time it takes several attempts of the complete process to make a connection, taking up to an hour. Not worth using the Smartcast feature. If you want to watch dvd's, bluray, and hook up you game console, it is great. You will need external sound. The remote is minimally functional. Since picture quality is most important to me, I rated this tv 4 stars. I would give the sound 2 stars only for tha fact that you can hear it, the remote 2 stars and the "smart" part a -5 stars ( that is negative 5). So if you want to stream YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc, good luck. You might be better off with a "real" smart tv.

Talked myself into a new tv and bought this at the recommendation of a store employee over another tv. The volume is quiet but can still be heard, just have to turn it up more than normal. I'm not overly convinced it is true 4k, but will check a few more things before I can saw either way for sure. The tv does not have a built in tuner (weird) so if you want antenna tv, an external turner must be used. All in all, even if it is not a 4k tv, it's still worth the price and a good tv. If this is going to be a primary or in a room with some noise, I would hook it up to an audio system. Other than that, no known complaints.

This TV does NOT support HDR, and does NOT come with a tablet remote like the higher M and P series, but it is several hundred dollars cheaper than the equivalent M series TV. To take maximum advantage, you need a dedicated tablet to use as a remote and to Cast. Frustratingly, some important apps like Amazon Prime video and Khan Academy are not Cast-enabled, so you will need an external streamer (Roku, Fire TV, etc) to display on this TV.

The TV has a very good picture. It was easy to set up. Two things keep it from being a 5 star. The stand on a lot of newer tvs have wide set legs. Not as handy as a center stand. The remote control on this tv is vague, shaped the same basically on both ends, and a little small. It is hard to tell from touch where the controls are. Other than that it is a good TV.

Good deal on an open box TV. I was looking for a 4K TV for my Xbox one. Pick this one up for $350. The tag said everything was still there and it was in great condition. The TV was in great condition however it was missing the legs to stand the TV on. The Manager at my local Best Buy and Forsyth Illinois was quick to remedy this. The picture is great and as always Best Buy had a great price. I'm not a fan of having to download the remote on your tablet or smart phone but I only use this for the Xbox and maybe some movies so it really doesn't affect it

This TV is easy to set up and use. I love all the app options for streaming and that it has a built in chromecast. The picture is very bright and clear. My only gripe would be the speakers. You have to turn the volume up significantly if there's any background noise. I also like its compatible with Google home.

This is a really good tv. The picture is excellent. I love that Chromecast is built in . I also love that I can download a remote to my phone. Only 1 thing I don't like is the remote that comes with is very basic and cant do the full settings of the tv . Other than that this is a great buy

One of The Better 4K TV Out There

This product is great for what it offers, there are some pros and cons to this product as any others. Overall I would recommend this for a lower budget TV. Video Quality: 4K @120Hz is good for the price, I did not expect the best quality coming from this price range but I was amazed by what it produced. When a 4k player is plugged it that is when things get amazing, beside that your average HD cable box will be just fine. When using the built-in Chromecast the quality of the shows will not be in 4K. I do not think that this TV comes with the Chromecast Ultra that supports 4K. In addition, you will need a pretty good router that can stream quality feeds to your TV. If your connection is coming from the other side of your home, I would recommend plugging this unit in directly with an ethernet cable. Sound Quality: The basic sounds that a TV can produce, it can reach a pretty good volume but it should be accompanied at least by a sound bar that way it will give you better quality than just the original speakers. Features: ChromeCast built in is not that useful, I bought the TV thinking that it was going to be a smart TV like most other smart TVout there. Although there is a Chromecast that comes with it , you still need a device that will stream the application. This TV had tied up one of my devices as it is used only as the remote and internet browsing since I have to bring it along with me if I want to watch tv on it. The remote that it comes with is minimal, to access a lot more feature you will need to download the app and use that as a remote. Build: It is light making it easy to mount. The remote should be a little more integrated with the TV but after having that app on your phone or tablet the remote is no longer needed.

My only complaint: The initial downloading of updates was a little frustrating, because it kept freezing. I finally had to do a manufacturer reset (brand new t.v. in an unopened box), before the updates completed. Otherwise the T.V. is a great purchase!

The TV itself is great. Very light and easy to setup. The downside is I can’t add any apps to it so I have to manually stream each show I want to watch. If they add the ability to customize apps on the tv I would give it 5 stars.

This screen seems to have the younger, or more technical, in mind. TV setup requires at smartphone and their app. It took about 5 minutes to get setup and going. It does come with a remote for basic use; input, volume, channel. Audio is nothing special, but does get the job over. Picture is crisp and using with xbox one to play 4k Blu-Rays the picture is just amazing. Special note is that the stand is on the outside of the TV and not the inside, so ensure where you are placing it is wide enough to hold it.

Good TV for the money. Volume is too low, cannot hear what is being said--mainly on evening programs. Bought a soundbar so will see if that helps.

Good looking TV. I would swing for the 55” version. This version doesn’t have HDR for 4K. The 55” does, as well as slightly better picture quality. Also, the 55” has more zones for the backlight.

Is it the TOP TOP of the line OLED 4K? No. But if you're looking for a smart tv this size, with loads of apps, streaming opportunities, chromecast built in which is a big plus, with a pretty good picture for really reasonable price, THIS IS A GOOD TV!!! Throw a sound bar on or surround sound speakers the tv is even better. Would definitely recommend to a friend if looking for something similar without looking to spend over $1000.
