Very fast for a non SSD drive. Transferred a 188GB file at a consistent 118-121 MBPS. Be advised these need to be properly formatted in an XBOX before first use as the XBOX used a multi format file structure to enable faster game response. Advise that you put all your games and apps on an external drive so when you need to reset your system you will not lose all your games and apps. Then load a game or two on your boot drive that needs the extra speed. These black drives for XBOX have always been a fast, reliable, and cheap solution for extra storage. I have several 1-5 TB sized versions in my stable and they all work as advertised.

I love these expandable storage drives for my consoles. I have two of the 3TB models connected to the Xbox Series S for my boys and I now have this 2TB on my Xbox Series X. It's convenient to add all of your non X|S enhanced games to the external storage, installation is simple enough plug the drive in using the provided USB cable, no additional power needed with this form factor, and format using the console itself. You can set it for additional game storage or saving your game clips you record through the capture feature on your Xbox.(which I have never done but it is an option). I would recommend anyone looking to expand their storage for Xbox One, 360 or Original Xbox on their Series or One consoles. The varied storage options make it a great choice for anyone looking to expand their base storage.

If you have the new series X or S then you know that 1TB of storage isn't a lot when you consider the size of some games today. But this can be a great cost effective work around if you have a lot of previous gen games downloaded. So to play the new Series S or X games you need the $219 SSD from Microsoft. This is a great cost saving storage option that is way cheaper than the SSD and still allows you to play games. This will allow you to play all your Xbox One Games from the drive. So games like Warzone, Modern Warfare, Fortnite and such will work just fine when moved over to this, and that frees up room on your built in storage for your next gen games to be played. A good cost cutting alternative and highly recommended.

Packaged nicely - very secure. My Xbox is in a desk slot, rather than on top of furniture. For this reason, I couldn’t plug the rather short included cable into the USB port in the back. I plugged it into the side and set the drive on top, which is fine. At least the cable doesn’t show. The console recognized the drive immediately and started the setup. Formatting (recommended by Western Digital) was super fast. It gave me the options to use the new drive by default (as the primary), which I declined. Once plugged in, the entire setup process took about 30 seconds. Super fast and seamless, as it should be. The available space showed immediately. Nice.
