    WD Blue's

Bought one of these about 6 months ago for standard backup, still running fine. Decided to buy a second one on black Friday for 99.99 but for some dumb reason a day later they refunded it. At first I was annoyed thinking I'd lost my deal, then I log in to find it's now down to 89.99 on I guess slightly-blacker Sunday? Decided to just walk into the store and buy it there since BB doesn't like my money online. Worked out well for me, price wise at least. :) Oh and those of you looking to shuck this, they are now standard blue drives, no more super cheap nas reds. I'm still going to take the chance and install them in a nas box and see how they do. Figure I'll just swap these in and throw my old 3tb drives in these cases to use as redundancies. Can't beat the price even if you buy the blue drive by itself on am-azon!

I can't really say anything about the enclosure or USB interface, other than that it was really easy to take apart. I pulled the hard drive out and am using it as an internal storage drive on my gaming PC. WD are and have always been good, solid hard drives. I buy them almost exclusively (save for Samsung SSDs or budget drives for things like media PCs). I used to be a Seagate guy, since they were pretty much the same quality and longevity as WD drives, it was just a matter of preference. In the past ten years, though, my experience is that Seagate has declined steadily to basically just producing garbage and selling it fast enough that the warranty runs out, while WD has stayed the same good quality. It's a Blue drive inside, so it's not winning any awards, but if you're looking to store movies, pictures, music, and files for low-performance/older games, this is 4 terabytes of solid hardware.

The hard drive itself is great but WD support is not. I called WD support to get this hard drive set up for time machine on my Mac. I (incorrectly) thought this would be an easier & more efficient way to go. On my first call the rep at WD did the screen share and walked me thru the formatting & setup. It seemed to work but after my computer went to sleep over night I got "Time Machine Backup Failed". It took 2 more calls, more screen shares and a couple more hours on the phone to WD until finally they got it to work properly. Previously I always bought plug and play external hard drives. This time I went for a better drive at a lower cost but more set up involved. In the end it was worth it but very frustrating along the way.

A bit to early to give my full review. only 2 weeks of use. So Far, the Pros , This portable external hard drive looks and feels solid. easy to install. lots of space when I shutdown my PC I don't unplug it. It's always plugged in ready to access my files anytime. Cons: A bit heavier verus other portable drives like the passport. but that 's fine , I don't use it as a portable much. One thing I have noticed while trying to access my files it hesitates before it opens the file. appears that's trying to connect to the drive ? my other external drive didn't do that. as soon as u clicked on the file to open took about maybe 1 , 2 seconds to open.this WD Drive takes about 5 ,, 7 seconds to open a file? I formatted the WD drive and copied all my files again. looks like it is working much better time will tell.

This drive has plenty of space, works fast, and was reasonably priced. A word of warning though - their products do not always survive tech upgrades. The problem with WD is that sometimes their older external drives stop working when new versions of windows come out. It's nothing wrong with their hardware, but software end they chose not to make certain models continue to have drivers. Unfortunately I have a WD "Passport" model that refuses to work on my newer windows computers, so I had to hook it up to an old laptop that still has windows 7 to get some of the data off of it. I fear that every time I upgrade my computer this will be the last time I can use the drive.

Due to the nature of the data I'm working with I find that I am always in need of bigger and bigger drives. I have several of these drives and find that they do what they are supposed to and seem to have reliability for the most part. That said WD is my least favorite brand of these big drives due to the fact that their drives seem to be slower to load and bigger in form factor than some others (Seagate). I also worry about the reliability of the drives on the long haul as I have had trouble with other types of WD drives. That said this is a functional item and I now have and use several of them in my home network.

While much is written about cloud storage, on site storage can be very helpful, especially for secure info. The Easystore is easy to install, just plug and play for the PC. Attaching it to a USB3 connection will give you quick access to backup material or as an extension to a nearly full hard drive. Units such as this are primarily designed to be desk based units, rather that the smaller hand held external drives which are also available from this vendor.

I give it 4stars cause of the price. It’s priced well.(Highly Recomend) That you keep it stationery. Some places it can’t be knocked over or banged around. It’s not a very movable hard drive. Moving it around to much will make it start making noise. When the noise occurs you have about two to three years of life left on it. It will eventually stop working. I use a lot of hard drives. This one is not good for mobility. Great buy for home office. Don’t go with out keeping it plugged in for long periods of time. It might die if sitting for too long.

I saw that this unit was on sale (substantial) and it is similar to the WD My Book, but is an exclusive BB brand and has a different warranty period than the My Book. I bought it to help consolidate a bunch of 1 TB drives I use. It works as expected, I don't personally use the bundled software. My only issue is that the desktop-based ones require power and don't always eject from Windows 10, so I typically have to shut down my PC before disconnecting. Not really an issue since I use this for occasional full backups.

This has been a solid drive for me. The huge capacity for the price is the selling point here as well as the brand reputation. I connected it via USB to my router to share it and haven't had to think about it since. I can easily backup multiple PCs to it. Do note that this is a "desktop" external hard drive, meaning that it is quite a bit larger than a portable one and comes with a power brick. The WD software is "ok". I can't say if this is shuckable or not as I got it as a standalone pseudo-nas so haven't taken it apart.

I already had a 2TB drive and it works great, I needed more space for my photography and wanted to join them together I asked a Best Buy employee if I could join them and he said that is what they are made for ..... WRONG. I went to hook it up and found out you can’t, I can just use it as a separate drive. Should of done my own research prior to purchase I would of just bought the 8 TB drive and transferred everything over to that one. Still works great setup is ok website could have better setup info

I finally got tired of adding, deleting , then redownloaing , then deleting ally Xbox one games. So when I saw this on sale I pulled the trigger with other reviewers saying it worked fast and easy. 2 weeks in and absolutely no complaints. I'm not knowledgeable enough to know about "Reds" , but it took 2 minutes to unbox, 3 minutes to format and a few hours to download my entire backlog of Xbox games. Love it, works as advertised and would recommend for any gamer, especially if you can get it under 70!

I purchased this drive during the black friday deals. For the price I paid it was a good deal. The backup software is a little slow and finicky. Even when running in the background it still gives you an error message. It does not compress the data to save space. Luckily there are other free backup software that do a better job. I chose the 3.5 in drive which requires external power to work. Even if compared to a 4 tb internal drive if purchase it at a sale you still get a good deal

So far I've been pleased with the WD Easystore 4GB hard drive. I needed some space for backups and this fits the bill. It should last me quite some time to fill it up and it has decent read/write speeds. When I purchased this device it was cheaper than a separate WD 4GB Red drive so it was a no brainer. If you want something to plug and play then this is for you. It's always great to make backups of your important data and this should work nicely.

I have used two and three terabyte Western Digital hard drives in the past with excellent results. I have three of them, purchased a while back and they are still working to my satisfaction. I have yet to actually start using this one yet... but for the price, the discount I received form Best Buy, and the experience I have had both with Best Buy and also with Western Digital products, I am expecting to be just as satisfied with this purchase.

Finally i can consolidate all my little HD's to one location. Wish it did not have to be connected to AC but it is nice that it shuts down with PC (not like my older/smaller HD's). So far plenty of space. I did not measure the actual transfer rate but did expect it to be a little faster. All in all I'm satisfied after all it is just for secondary storage and the price was right.

So far this drive has been great. I can't speak to the longevity as I've only had it for a few weeks but it hasn't given me any trouble. I plugged it in, the computer recognized it immediately and I was able to start putting my files on it. The only negative thing I noticed is it takes a second to spin up after it's been asleep but that doesn't really affect its performance.

I've been consolidating thousands of files from three different hard drives ranging from 500 GB to 2 TB. This HUGE hard drive holds it all and COST ME LESS than the last single TB drive I purchased. Watching movies and listening to music directly from the drive is working wonderfully as it is FAST. I have not attempted to run any large games directly from the drive, but it does run Open Office (write, calc, etc.) without lag.

I did a system backup using the WD software on a Win10 machine and it ran smoothly, but when I did a restore on another Win10 machine I could not find most of the Word docs. The desktop and photos showed up fine. When I moved files folder by folder it seemed to work fine. This device will not work with Win7 as it is not recognized when you plug it in.

I bought a bundle pack the had xtra controller and games also purchased everything else from battery packs, controller stand, vertical base, game headphones anyway in 2 weeks he filled the memory up and told me he needed a external hard drive so I bought this one cause it has 4 terabyte of memory. Hope it last a couple months
