Great Harddrive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the space on this monster hard drive. Backed up my entire PC. So far works as promised. You need a separate power source, thankfully the power chord provided has a good length.

Nice drive for raw image file storage
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A nice drive for storing image and video files with its large amount of storage. This drive is used on a new Dell that uses fast and large SSDs, but not large enough for storage of raw image files in number. While editing, active files use Drives inside machine and afterwards I move them to the portable drive.

Good drives, but they are overpriced right now.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought some seagate drives and these, these ones are better than the seagate barracuda drives I bought. If you need an external drive these are good, I bought about a dozen in total. They are overpriced right now you should wait to get them at about $20 per TB, but if you need it then pull the trigger

Makes a lot of noise, vibrates a lot.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I almost brought this back to the store. I'm not used to external hard drives that make this much noise and vibrate this much. I was also hoping it would be faster. However, it is doing the job. I have 4 other hard drives by the same company, but they were 3 TB, this one is 8 TB, and I'm guessing that has something to do with the vibration.

Worked right off the bat
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fantastically right out of the box Performs exactly as I wanted however made mistake of rying to format drive to smaller partitions which led to it being converts from GPT to MBS lost everything I had just back up. My own fault not manufacture. Re partitioned to one giant drive again and works perfectly fine love it third one I’ve bought

WD 8 GB external hard drive perfect for backups
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a backup solution that would allow me to keep multiple boot drive images in case of failure. Since my boot drive is nearly 1 GB I needed a large backup drive. Western Digital offered me three pluses to decide to buy it.First a copy of Acronis Backup Western Digital Version comes with the product for free. I have used Acronis on other computers and it was my preferred backup solution, so it was perfect for me to get this product to use on my new computer. Second is the three year warranty. Third is that it comes externally powered so I do not have to worry about overloading USB connection and poor reliability with large backups. I just wish that all external hard drive manufactures have migrated to offering USB3.2 or USB C connectors to allow fast 10 GPS speeds for these huge backups. The new standard has been around a long time, and there is no excuse for them not to provide the standard.

Excellent value, perfect for my purpose
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have both nas and local storage on my home network. I have huge amounts of information I want to keep safe and immediately available. This drive allows me to keep copies of almost everything in one portable location. And it was $210. For 8 terabytes of data! I have several other WD drives all of which are still in good working order after several years of use!

WD - My Book 8TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally went to purchase a Seagate portable external hard drive with the highest capacity I could purchased...I had already filled a 4TB external hard drive. After talking to a BB sales rep I decided to try this drive since they didn't have a Seagate. As it turns out, it was a great purchase and I'm very please with it and would purchase it again.

Good backup device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good backup device, however it could be better by allowing transaction by transaction backups and the ability to back up multiple machines wirelessly.

Does the trick
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to back up a failing RAID on my desktop. I was able to back up all my regular files and keep them up-to-date on the My Book with the included software. I also made an image of the RAID and saved that on the My Book--with 8 TB, there was plenty of space to back it all up multiple ways which helped give me peace of mind.

Nice for photo backup
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for a friend to provide her a backup of her photos. She just leaves it on the shelf, plugs it into her computer when she wants to backup her photos and copies them onto it. I even loaded it with some that I had for her before I gave it to her. 8 TB will hold a lot of family photos and videos!
