    This is a good external hard drive. The only problem is that I bought it to connect to my Netgear router as a shared drive, but I discovered after buying that Netgear doesn't support MyBooks with over 2-3TB storage. But I still put it to use directly connecting to a single computer. This MyBook works with either Mac or Windows PC.

    I'm no expert on external drives. I just want it to last a long time and be fast. So far the drive is functioning fine. The speed doesn't seem great, even when plugged into a 3.0 port. It also is always asleep, so any time I go to access files on the drive I have to wait a minute for it to wake up.

    I purchased this 8TB External Hard Drive being that I have a WD MyBook 4TB. However, after only 8 months, my drive will no longer pull up or let me access my files! I can with other externals so I know it’s not my computer or cords etc... I am EXTREMELY upset about all of the time I spent transferring data to this new drive and for it to now be useless:(
