This is my 4th 8 TB WD drive.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This will be my last WD drive, so far I have bought 10 of them, from 2 TB to 8 TB capacities, and all of them have had issues over the years. I was a UNIX sysadmin and I have older desktops with WD, Seagate, IBM, Hitachi (HDS), and Fujitsu drives. Years ago I switched all the data center drives to Hitachi and had excellent uptime. In my opinion, there seems a mechanical failure with these devices, but the MTBF from WD to Hitachi is considerable. I found a few HDS and special WD drives called HGST Ultrastar He10 on eBay and Amazon. I am not sure who really reads these reviews but I hope Best Buy will start selling better drives. While I am typing this review my WD Book HD is humming and making a bumping noise, so I know it is time to move my data again. Good luck.
