Needed a backup drive to save my music, photos, etc. I have an Apple and was grateful that they made one specifically for their products. It was easy to set-up, very quiet and doesn't take up a lot of space.

Having 2 older macs and a new MacBook Pro 128 GB this little baby is amazing. Works seamlessly with Tim machine. Also lets you drag and drop files love it definitely recommend

I needed a larger drive for Time Machine, as my previous machine had reached over 90% capacity. The MyBook for Mac is marketed on its box as "fast, seamless Time Machine backup." The issue is that, at least with Yosemtite, as I believe it was for Mavericks, Time Machine requires Mac OS Extended (Case-sentive), whereas the drive is Mac OS Extended (Jornaled). So, even though the drive was a Mac version, I still had to re-partition it.

I wanted a reliable external drive to backup my 3TB Mac and that would work with Time Machine. This one fit the bill at a good sale price. I've had WD in the past and have been pleased with them having a life span of at least 3 to 4 years. This one sits under my desk and runs quietly in the background so that I don't even notice it.

If you are a MAC user and looking for a user friendly back up drive, this is the one for you. ***I initially bought the same brand with 4 Terabytes but the formatting was so complicated (and never could complete it [and I am am quite tech savvy]) so I returned it and swapped it out for the 3T "Ready for Mac" and I had it set up in less than 5 minutes and have been using it daily ever since without any problems.

Theunit was very easy to install and initialize,with zero glitches. It has been running flawlessly, ensuring that all my Mac's data is always protected. It makes no noise, and takes up very little space on my desktop, all good qualities. I really like this unit. My previous backup was a much smaller 1teraoutboard unit. This is much better.

I purchased this external drive to replace a Seagate and I have to say it works faster and more reliable than the Seagate drive. The setup was extremely easy especially with my MAC mini. I ran out off hard drive space on my MAC mini and the setup to use this as a secondary drive was easy. Great product

This backup hard drive for Mac connects very easily via USB port and is immediately recognized by the Mac's Time Machine software. Just plug it in and it continuously backs up without prompting. Just be aware that unlike smaller, portable units this requires AC power.

went into best buy, asked the sales person for what external drive to buy for my iMac. they ended up price matching and I was able to get an even better deal. More or less plug in and can start using. I set up automatic backup and very easy to use.

I own a small portable drive made by WD for Mac and it has proved to be reliable. I needed more storage capacity and bought this drive. I spent a total of about 6 hours over the span of 3 days on the phone with WD support, because the backups kept failing. The tech was only "fairly" knowledgeable, and he was about to give up and send me a new drive. I convinced him that it wasn't the drive, but the security software features of the WD drive. We finally eliminated the security password requirement and the backs work successfully after that. I'm not taking the drive away from my home so I don't think I need the password protection.

The WD My Book for Mac 3TB external drives are a good solution for a growing collection of media needing an archive. Small, light-weight, and totally easy to setup... literally plug and play. Recommended.

This drive works with apple time machine right out of the box. No need to reconfigure it. Just hook it up and you are ready to go. Unit is very quiet and has a small desktop foot print. I love it.

The WD My Book is very easy to use, setup and store info. I had it up and running within 15 min. It is a great storage space for movies and music that take up a lot of space on your computers hard drive.

Bought this to take all my movies and music from my hard drive to free up space. Now I am running my iTunes off this external hard drive. Awesome! Works great with my Apple TV I just purchased.

This is a great External HD for the Mac. The Mac controls the HD and I have the time machine set on. It's quiet and it's a small size to fit on my desk next to the iMac.

This is a great little memory expansion for your system. No additional software, just plug in and backup. Enough space to backup all the computers in my house. It's great.

Replacing a 4 year old Seagate drive, same capacity (3TB). Disappointed that my other drive died with minimal read/writing over that time. Mainly a backup drive with media stored on it. Spoke to 2 sales guys at Best Buy about my home computer environment. Considering the cost, this WD drive is a great value. Since it is already configured for Apple, I didn't need to take the time to reformat before using in my home. Grateful for the time spent talking about my needs and so far, this drive was painless to set up and works flawlessly.
