Not very dependable. I think I'll go to an SSD instead.

After doing a test on the drive for a couple of days, when I wen to actually use it, it failed. Windows would not recognize it. I was able to recover it using the windows utilities.
My complaint is not just that the drive failed, but WD was of no use in getting it working again.
After some bad experiences with a couple of MyCloud dual drive systems -- not so much with the systems, but with WD support for the product, I have started buying non-WD products. I am not throwing the company out completely, until this drive, I had always found their drives to be of very high quality.

I wish I could give it a zero. This is the 3rd (and last) portable WD drive to fail within a year. This one didn’t even last 24 hours before it stopped responding. I’ve since tried connecting it to 3 different computers, but just like the other failures, the light blinks, but nobody's home.
Don’t waste your money!

Bought this to replace a 6 month old WD external drive that failed after light use. First use of this drive, picked up drive with thumb and one finger to slide it and my laptop over on table while transferring files. Slight pressure with thumb and one finger was enough to flex/compress the outer case and immediately heard grinding in the drive. Drive destroyed. Run away from WD external drives. I have some that are several years old and work, but their new ones seem to be complete garbage.

Not a easy to install as passed WD hard drives. Not plug and play.

Very delicate.. Great if you do not intend to transport from one system to another. After 6 months of moving around drive became unstable and files started corrupting. Appeared to continue to run after Eject had released the drive. No use having all that space if you can't use it.

The device only worked for a couple of days then started making a constant clicking noise which was not only annoying but unnerving. Returned and refunded

The software for this will not install unless you agree to sharing info and diagnostics with Western Digital. I guess do more research before you purchase something from WD, this is ridiculous.

This drive worked fine until, of course, a week after the product return window closed. I originally formatted in exFAT on my laptop because my laptop holds embroidery patterns that I would like to access on my iMac. Eventually my iMac wouldn't recognize this drive. I figured it was user error and reformatted again. Nope, iMac does not recognize this drive.

It said on the package that it was mac compatible, but it was not. (Maybe it works for an older mac, but I just bought a new laptop.) Didn't work for me at all. Returned it.

Bought it in December, have been using if for over a month and it is already dying. I am getting a read error when I diagnose it. The reason I diagnosed it is because it is transferring files at 2mb/s opposed to somewhere near 100mb/s. Probably I got a lemon, but I can not recommend something I don't trust.

Unfortunately, I never was able to format, initialize, or partiton the disk at all. It sounded like it was bad, honestly, it kept making a buzzing sound even after the assumed sounds of first plugin. I may try a different kind of this brand, since I’ve seen many other positive reviews. I was trying to use it with Windows 11 OS, btw.
