slow drive. overheats with heavy usage. would recommend an SSD if you have high usage.

Havent even had it a full year and it consistently errors out. Was told this would be a suitable option for installing my pc games on. Wrong. Dont buy if you're looking for an external drive for games.

Not sure what happened but lost over 10 years of memories with this device I will never use an HDD again I will only do SSD. Limited 3-year warranty and they weren't able to do anything and it cost over $3k to do a recovery

It's a usb drive, what's to tell? Slow transfer speed

Poor quality clunker. It worked for about 2 minutes and then died. The light turns on, doesn't blink, and just sits there. I know it isn't my computer, cable, etc. This drive is just a bad unit that quit working. A boat anchor...

Purchased it just a week ago and it is not accessible by computer now, transferred lots of pictures and from my old hard drive, WD technician says only option is to reformate the drive to use again and lose or go through third party to recover the data.

Terrible product. It lasted 3 months and began to tick. I was able to black up my data and sent it in to WD. They sent me a new one and 5-10 minutes into transferring my data back to the new HD it began to tick. When it ticks, it stops writing data and gives me an error. 5 TB is not a small of data to gamble with. I don’t recommend this product.

After searching the web for installation and operating instructions (none supplied by manufacturer, Western Digital), was able to install start backup. Stopped before complete and would not resume.

I bought this in Dec, I just plugged this in, formatted it for my Mac and spend the day saving all my precious files onto it. It worked great for about 24 hours. Then it started making a clicking noise and my computer couldn't locate it. Now what.

It's already broken. These things just break out of the blue and I'm already on #3 in 2 months. Absolutely unreliable. Once this one breaks, I'm just not going to have external storage because I've put now way too much money into having them just break and start over from scratch.

I'm sure it's great if I could figure out how to download my info. Came with NO help!

Lasted about a month and a half, then it was a brick in the garbage can. Never again will I ever trust Western Digital, or any of their products. If data matters to you, don't store backups on cheap drives. I will stick with sata 6 drives where my backups will actually restore properly.

This drive worked for about 15-20 min before it failed. I put 100G worth of data on the drive then it failed miserably!! I was on the phone with Western Digital for two hours and NOTHING. Now I do not know what to do with the drive because it has sensitive data on it and it does not work!! HORRIBLE PURCHASE!!

I have a total of 4 WD. 3 of them are passports and one is the old one which needs its own power supply. Other than the old one all 3 gave up. I thought i got some duds but the last one did not even last a year. I have some backup because the oldest one. This is the last WD i will every buy

The item itself seems to be very good, BUT the support and guidance I got from the Geek Squad at the store on how to use it was absolutely horrible.

I bought it less than a year ago (March 27th 2023) and it was working fine up until it died this morning and fried all my data.

Not user friendly. I was unable to follow install and use easily.

Hard drive just stopped working literally two weeks after I transferred EVERY file from my computer onto it. I literally lost everything….

I was told I would need this to help my computers to talk to each other. I have had it for a month and haven't figured out how to use it. The geek squad was useless. So I don't know if this product works. Its just sitting in a drawer gathering dust for now.

I bought 4 of the same ones and two do not work, the 15 days of warranty have passed, so if you buy one you should try it immediately
