Having bought the 1tb version of this prior for games, and quickly running out of space, I had to upgrade. I thought I could get a better deal with Seagate so I sprung for one of their drives, but the write speed was so slow it was an immediate refund. So I came back to WD and got their 5tb drive for games and videos/photos. Works like a charm and I don't see myself hitting that 4.8/5tb limit anytime soon. Minor issue is that on booting up my laptop with this plugged it, it may not start up correctly, and I'd have to manually power down my laptop and unplug my drive to boot properly. In the included software, this could be fixed by disabling it from using the drive on startup, but it wasn't a huge enough issue considering how reliable this drive is.

Good capacity available among portable drives, and it’s one of the most affordable drives I considered with this much storage. It works well with Windows computers,

This Western Digital Hard Drive is fast and roomy. At 5TB there is lots of space for your largest files. You can save direct files or create an image of your hard drive. In either case, it will work will for backing up your important data. The price is good as will!

It is very easy to set up and to use. Comes loaded with its own installation software for both Mac and Windows users. Hold 5TBs of data. And the price at Best Buy was very reasonable.

I have been buying WD external drives for years. I have never had a problem. Always make sure to eject it properly. I do and I think that is why I have never had an issue.

This was a great value for the capacity. I have a Mac and a loaded quickly without any reformatting needed. Really stable hard drive and it’s great for on to go. I pop it in my back and I’m off.

I have been using this 5TB drive on my computer and have a 2TB one for my wife's computer. I use them as the primary storage for both computers as I bought new computers with the smallest solid-state drives, as there is no sense in spending the extra money on the computer when you can use these USB powered drives. They are flawless, silent, very dependable. I read the reviews saying they are junk, and die all the time, and all I can say is I think these people are likely trolls or chronic complainers. These are my first WD USB powered drives, but I had what was once considered large AC powered one for years. Never a problem with either.

I've own several WD My Passport drives and have found them to be truly "plug and play", not only with my Windows laptop, but with my Macs as well. This drive is no exception. I was able to take a full backup of the data files on the Windows laptop, move the drive across to the Mac Mini, and access every single directory and file with no issue. Could not have been easier. I plan on ordering another similar drive to plug in to my wireless router as a network backup drive.

The storage is very nice and transfer speeds are decent. It is pretty cheap as well. I always use WD My Passport and the only reason I need new ones is when I run out of space every few years, these have been very reliable for me in the past.

I have enjoyed this compact drive. It has storage space but doesn't take up too much while providing a good throughput. Affordable, portable and easy to use. I wish it did not require a proprietary cable, but then it would probably not have the throughput.

Hesrt little external drives used for simple backups and drive images in case I lose an SSD. Quiet and simple design makes it simple to use. Haven't had it long enough to determine reliability. Just be sure and use a USB 3 or higher port!

Bought this for my daughter for school as a back up to store all her files and big apps and it has helped with the performance of the computer taking the load off the main hard drive. She likes it because it is easy to use and it's portable.

Needed added storage space for my music, videos, etc on a light weight, portable storage to use with my laptops. This fit the bill; especially when comparing cost, physical and data storage size with other similar units.

Great little unit. Comes as a Windows ready device, but made it a Mac OSX ready backup drive in minutes. Voila! My first WD backup drive was being replaced after 12 years of daily backups. Replaced because of age and basically because I needed more backup space.

Recently I ran into the familiar problem of not enough storage on 3 computers, so I bought the Passport 5TB. Without doubt, this is the best investment I have made in many years of buying computers and accessories. The contains of 3 computers are now securely stored on the Passport, and it has plenty of storage space yet. Easy to use. Just plug it in and use as you would any flash drive or external USB connection. I have an old Passport that still works but is just too small, so I have retired it. Everything is stored in OneDrive on Windows 10, in iCloud, but more useful for me and for convenience is the 5TB External USB 3.0 portable hard drive. Thanks for quality!
