This was cutting edge @ the time it came out. Like so many saw it on the big screen. Saw this on DVD recently @ a book store blu ray was not available, but looked on Best Buy, had it by the next week. My home system did a good job of the sound but the video was not on par with today's transfer, never the less I liked the movie. Reference would be Total Recall with Arnold S & Sharon Stone.

If you like 3D, virtual reality, If you liked paintball, you'll like the original Westworld movie! A robotic spaghetti western classic that lets you know that science blended with technology is not fiction.

I had no idea this was on DVD I figured the only way I could watch this again would be on VHS, still an excellent movie

I was actually considering purchasing Westworld (the classic, Yul Brenner version) at some other online place, but I thought for a regular, non Blu Ray film, the price of $10 was too high, especially since most people are getting out of purchasing DVDs. Heading into a Best Buy store for something else and spotting the bin of regular DVD films for $3.99, how could I resist? Having a personal DVD collection of some 8000 films, here was this gem of a film for a great price. This was a "buy without thinking" moment. If you're into the TV series, and you've never seen this classic version from the 70s (the sequel was Future World), then give yourself a treat and catch Yul at his finest.

This 1973 Sci-Fi Western spawned the HBO TV series of the same name. It is less than 90 mins. long, but packs the thrills necessary to make it an important entry in this genre. The plot concerns an amusement park for adults where you can live out your wildest dreams in an old west life-like fantasy setting, allowing the high paying participants to let lose their inhibitions without the normal consequences if they were to do what they can do there to AI robots in the real world. Of course nothing is perfect in this debauched world of sin, and real justice prevails when a glitch in the computer program turns things upside down.

This 1973 movie predates, of course, the current HBO TV series Westworld, but has generally the same themes. Human "guests" come to fantasy worlds in which robot "hosts" are supposed to satisfy every whim of the "guests" without harming them. But then machines go awry. Because 1973 film making techniques aren't very advanced, the film, in its technical details, looks rather crude. But for fans of the HBO series this is an interesting curiosity of an effort to depict the HBO Westworld before HBO did it. Who knew Westworld existed before the HBO series.

This movie was fantastic especially for an early 1970's movie. The special effects were great, and Yule Brenner was fantastic as the runaway broken gunfighter machine. I don't want to give away too much of the movie, but suffice it to say that the theme park is divided worlds. Where everything is fine, until it's not. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys action packed movies.

Great movie! Finally released on Blu Ray. This is the movie that inspired the HBO series currently on. I feel the show is a bit too involved and deep in the story. So if you’re someone feels like the show is a bit much, you’ll really enjoy the movie. Can’t go wrong with Yul Brenner!

Even though the sets and wardrobes are dated even though shown as contemporary the acting and plot are still great. This is still a great movie, and a classic for any sci-fi movie buff collection.

Saw this at movies when it came out. Had no idea how good the script and performances were. And with my home entertainment system it is much, much better than what I saw in 1973.

The 25th show is better in my opinion but this is good for the time period. You definitely see the stepping stones for the tv series. It's worth the wa5ch and a super good price.

Might seem to be pretty dated for most people, but it doesn't look half bad in Blu-ray. Of course, might be nostalgia for some folks watching this movie again.

Lot of fun Great sci-fi movie I would recommend this if you haven’t seen it .see it and if you’re a fan of the television .see where it all started

Welcome to a park where you can leave your life in the old west, mid evil England, or Greece. Be careful the park androids might try to kill you.

Gotta love the classics! One of the best movies from my childhood and of course you cant beat the concept of what can happen when we don’t check AI.

It my not be as slick as the new West World but it laid the path for it. Sometime you have to use your own imagination, and that is a good thing.

This brought back old memories of my childhood but some parts of the show I never remembered, probably because my parents made me cover my eyes.

I must have been 10 when i first seen this movie.Didn't believe my son found it at Best Buy.We enjoyed seeing movie as a family on movie night.

Just finished West World season 2. Saw this and wanted to see the origins of West World. Worth seeing if you're into West World.

Great transfer of this classic film. Great background if you are watching the series. The story is really good and I highly recommend
