Customers enjoy the many games, especially those appealing to a wide range of players, and find the gamepad intuitive and easy to use. The system's ease of use and fun factor are also frequently praised, along with its price point. However, some customers point to the battery life of the gamepad and the lack of third-party game support as shortcomings.

Love this game, it's awesome! I really like the fact that I can play it on my big screen TV when I'm home alone OR just play the game with the portable console when hubby watches TV. I can use it with sound or no sound. When my family comes to visit they love to play my newWIIU, as they do not own one BUT REALLY WANT ONE!

I like that I can play it like a normal wii. You can turn your tv into a smart tv. You can use your remote to watch or play games while using the tv to watch something else. You can use it to do yoga! It's awesome! Best thing since ninetindo 64!

This system is awesome. I've loved Nintendo ever since I was a child. I took my whole system to a Christmas party and my friends had a blast, they wish they had this console. We had such fun playing against and with each other. Better online play and communication features are definitely a plus. The Wii U GamePad tablet that was included I had to get used to because I came from standard controllers, but it's still an enjoyable experience. One of the downsides about this is that there is no Ethernet port on the Wii U. Online play will still vary, I found that out very quickly with Super Smash Bros. Wii U, I have barely been able to win a single match because of a lag somewhere around 0.3 seconds, not sure if having an Ethernet-USB adapter will solve this because the lag is always consistent. I very much hope Nintendo is considering building their next console with an Ethernet port and perhaps a better, more reliable wireless card as they're in the midst of putting together next-generation stuff right now. Another downside is that I always hear talk about Nintendo's consoles not being powerful enough to support graphically-demanding games that they could be having developed for their console. I can't help to agree, I'd love to see Nintendo step it up next time with at least a strong quad-core CPU, a higher-tier GPU, and more RAM so that games can have breathing room for dedicated RAM usage. I'm waiting for the day where another RPG game for one game series or perhaps a cross-over for a few of Nintendo's game series' utilizes all these at high graphic detail. One of the biggest improvements that Nintendo made to this system is the HDMI port along with surround sound. High-definition Nintendo games (60fps at that!) is one thing I've been badly wanting for a long time. I still have yet to utilize the surround sound, but it will be cranked up on high volume when I do. Another thing is online features, I'd like to see more features and better quality features if Nintendo plans on doing things like DLC. Promotions, contests within games, online game challanges and giveaways would be a few examples. The last thing I want to leave on is that the fact that I got 4 games with this bundle instead of just 2 is amazing. Great for the whole family and friends. Money well-spent.

For the price and amount of games (4) that came with this when ordered it's awesome. Wish they would throw in another remote/console but otherwise works great. Easy to install. Great for kids - plus original Wii games so you don't lose those or necessarily need to buy a lot of new games right away.

Nintendo hits it out of the park again. They do what I wish the other 2 major companies would do like in the old days and bundle games with their consoles. Take your best launch lineup game and bundle it with the game. In this case Nintendo does what it hasn't done since the NES. Make a new console. Then take Mario. Put him in a game. Then just for good measure, make ANOTHER game, and put THAT game into the box too (NES bundle came with NES, controller, and 1 cartridge with Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt on it).
NintendoLand I can't review honestly because I haven't touched it due to a combo of Smash Bros, MK 8, and my new PS3. But I can review 3D world game. It is fun to play solo or with other players. Solo its like any other 3D Mario game. It gave me a sort of Super Mario Bros 3/Super Mario World vibe with the world map and different suits. But put another player in the mix and the game changes. It becomes co-op and competitive at the same time. And with a time limit it makes it even harder with other players but in a good way.
The console itself is great but a star was taken away because to truly enjoy the console you need other players. And in terms of local co-op its the best of the 3 consoles. However, the Wii U only comes with the gamepad as a controller. Even if you go out and buy the cheapest official controller your looking at least at $30 each. And with alot of 1st party games allowing up to 4 players and Smash Bros having an EIGHT player mode. You can easily spend at least close to another $100 just on controllers. (Personally I went out and bought 2 Wii U Pro Controllers which set me back $100 even).
But the lineup is strong right now.
I have MK 8, Smash Bros, SMBW3D, Nintendoland, DKCTF, and soon when money allows picking up Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Star Fox Wii U when it comes out.
AND the console is backwards compatible so you can pick up games from the Wii and play those. Something severely lacking on the other consoles.
If you are a Nintendo fan and have not picked this up then pick it up.

Christmas present for my 5 year old daughter and she absolutely loves it. My wife and I enjoy it as well. The original NES games available through the Nintendo online store are awesome! Easy to set up and use. Gamepad takes a little getting used to but is an amazing and unique feature.

I have been more than pleased with my purchase of the Nintendo - Wii U! It is a blast! The game selections are awesome as well as the built in apps. It truly is a great buy with all it has to offer for such a terrific price! Plus I have the confidence in the product since I bought it from my favorite electronics store, Best Buy. I know then that it will work perfectly as described without any surprises and if I do have problems I have a place to go should that happen. Also love that there is an opportunity to play the original Mario Bro's as well as the new! Going back in time is so kewl!!

Good design sparse offerings

Note; this review is strictly of the console as boxed in this bundle and freely available software, not considering other games.
As a console there's some inspired design here, particularly in the interface. The controller is a great blend of multiple technologies into one very operational package. I understand the continuing shift from the processing power rat race, but the console still suffers long lag times between functions, the type just long enough to irritate but not long enough to actually do something else.
The software is pretty sparse, however. What is present is well designed, but there's not much, even when digging through the app offerings on the online store. That was surprising to me, I expected more quirky designs instead of essentially media services and not much else. The streetpass apps are interesting but ultimately just little tours that are quickly done and not interesting to repeat.
As for the included games, Super Mario is hard to mess up at this point, and this iteration doesn't disappoint, but it's also not very unexpected. Nintendolands has a few minigames that are fun, but don't have much substance. I think I would have preferred getting another bundle with a different set of games.
In the end, it comes down to that controller, and it's capabilities. On that, it earns a solid passing grade, and I look forward to getting more games to use it on.

Although I heard this system has not lived up to Nintendo's standards in terms of sales. Getting this system from Best Buy on sale was a bargain. I am an adult and have had a blast with Mario World. Also it should be noted that Wii Sports automatically gets downloaded to your Wii U once you connect it to WiFi. The New controller that comes with the Wii U is very convenient. If someone wants to watch something on TV you can play the Wii U from your couch without interrupting. They also have a new game controller that you can buy separately that rivals typical gaming controllers like playstation and Xbox offer. Overall I think this is an amazing deal compared to its competitors. I highly recommend it for children and adults!

Nintendo already has a good name upon itself, so that's always good. It's simple and very kid friendly. The tablet/gamepad that comes with the Wii U is probably the reason I give it 4 stars.
It's big and bulky; while I thought it would be fun to use, it wasn't. In advertisements, the game pad controller was able to become similar to a portable device... it does, but only within a short rage of the console. I'm able to walk away maybe 15-20 feet away before the game pad shuts itself off. For those who have a roomy home, and a constant wandering child or anyone using it, won't get too far.
Also about the game pad controller, you aren't really able to shut it off if you want to use a different controller. I bought the pro controller (which I use by default) and I've looked high and low to try to turn off the game pad. It does give the option to turn off the display, but in the meantime, while you aren't using it, it drains battery sitting there. The only way to turn it off is to walk away from the console till it shuts off itself, like I previously said. LOL
But all in all, it's a good console. The bundle came with 2 games and at the time, it was nice sale that Best Buy had going on. I couldn't help pass the offer. No other issues so far & my nephew loves it as much as I do. He's 6 and I'm 27!

If you love the prior Nintendo staples, you will love the new editions Nintendo has brought to the HD world. The hardware feels right, the stylus and gamepad make for a nice experience while some games trying to incorporate both the gamepad and TV display are a bit gimmicky on that front. The stand-alone feature of the gamepad I enjoy for using the apps but otherwise promotes a disengagement that I don’t care for. The battery life for the gamepad is a bit weak. Put it back on the charger each night.
Trying to figure out how many players with which configuration of controllers can play just got more difficult, but once you start playing you will be blown away by the graphics and nostalgic gameplay. I’ve only played the 3D world and Nintendo Land a little, but they both offer light-hearted fun for the family. I have been so impressed at the quality of production with the other games we bought (Mario Kart 8 and the new Mario Bros). The level of detail here and connection to Nintendo’s history is fantastic. Well done.
I can’t speak to the online experience because I haven’t engaged in it yet; there seem to be adequate settings to keep those interactions at a level you feel comfortable with.
All in all, a very fun console for a young family like ours.

The Wii U may not be considered an equal among the PS4 and XBone, but it's a great console for anyone that is a fan of the nintendo franchise and very family friendly. What it lacks in 3rd party support, it makes up for with it's exclusive titles. The price is fair too, considering it comes with 2 games bundled.
The only real knock I have against it is that it only comes packaged with the touchscreen controller. I would have liked it to include at least 1 motion plus wii-mote and nunchuck (considering the title "Nintendo Land" bundled with the system has certain game modes that require one.) However if you own a wii, your old controllers will work with the new system.

The Wii U is another great edition to console gaming. Set up is easy, the interface is simple to understand, and it plays well. The GamePad makes for a pretty good controller for most titles, though those more familiar with the Playstation or Xbox controller will do better with the Wii U pro controller. The Wii U has a nice variety in its titles, though admittedly the system is more family friendly. The bundle has one great game in it (Super Mario 3D World) and one decent game (Nintendoland). Both are good for multiplayer, though the Nintendoland game will require additional Wii controllers. A good value for the money.

So when i first heard of the wii u 2 years ago, i had no idea it was a brand new console. I never saw any games that interested me at the beginning. I waited and waited to see if id ever be compelled to get one of these, and then Super Smash Bros. was released and i got interested. Then a new Zelda game was announced... I was sold. I saved up my cash and picked this up and im having a great time with it. I really like the fact that it plays WII games since i never owned one of those.
Its a cool console, but if youre not big into video games i would recommend you wait until the "NX" is released.

Nintendo newest next generation console featuring additional 24GB of memory for your gaming needs. The WII U is such a versatile gaming console featuring a new gamepad that actually allows you to game or watch a movie while the television is in use. Aswell the new gamepad the ability to connect to pre-purchased applications like netflix and hulu gives the consumer an extremely high value for a relatively low investment.
With Nintendo Wii U's recent releases of Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8 gives the buyer insurance of amazing games to play.

I wanted a Wii U for a while but could never justify the money. My wife bought it for me and I knew it would be fun but this thing is way more fun than I anticipated! I know a lot of people bashed the game pad but I don't think they actually used it. The fact that I can play games on it in another room or while someone else use's the TV is amazing! The game pad can also act as a remote and turn on your TV, adjust inputs, volume and more. I would highly recommend this system to anyone who wants a high quality system with extremely fun games!

This is a bundle package put out by, Best Buy's it contained Mario brothers 3-D. Plus accrued extra game controller, the price is not bad. I have pay played the Mario 3-D multiple times, I have originally purchased the wii u for playing Zelda the high role.
I started playing Zelda back in the old 8-bit mode and have followed it all the way through to this final step, the graphics have improved at least 400%. The music is approximately the same tunes that has followed through the entire series, have changed the role-playing designs a little bit in this model. The ability to change battle weapons in the middle play is different than the other series some for the good sum for the bad?
I would make recommend the Wii U for the younger audience I have not found a larger game pack for the older audiences yet? For the price of the product and what I have received I recommend this package, ages five years and up.

The Best of This Generation's Offerings

Purchased the Wii U as a family gift thinking it would be fun for us to relive some of the novel gaming experiences Nintendo always promises (if occasionally falls short of making good on). Since setting it up we barely play anything else.
It's easy to forget, in today's overstimulated AAA core gamer industry, how meticulous Nintendo crafts it's hardware and games to deliver a holistic *gaming* experience. Sure, they're not perfect and the case here as of a sort-of "sequel" to the original Wii was terribly marketed at launch, but I do believe Nintendo has emerged from this generation being the least guilty of resting on it's laurels.
*Highlights* include Off-TV play (also integrated in some two-player offerings as an alternative to split-screen), clever MiiVerse integration in many of its games, and free online. Amiibo support is also quite clever in most of its supported games. Additionally (and regardless of one's opinion on the matter), it also is still the only way to enjoy any of the iconic first-party titles that have endured decades of gaming history.
*Negatives* that leap to mind are short battery life on the Gamepad controller, and the myriad ways to gouge your wallet on peripherals.
If you can divorce yourself from bandwagoning and the idea that Nintendo is only interested in gimmicky family "shovelware," there are some tremendous original and core gaming opportunities that should not go tragically unnoticed.
Buy it.

Got the Wii U for Christmas from my family. I have a 6 year old and 3 year old. We love to play Smash Bros and Mario 3D on it. The main controller is a little large and heavy for my kids. The good news is that a lot of the games are compatible with the old wii remotes, so you don't have to buy new controllers. Love the wide selection of family friendly games. Not as powerful as the other next-gen consoles, but the games look great and run smoothly.
