I was so excited when I learned that they were bringing this to consoles, and the wait was definitely worth it. I sunk hours into Enemy Unknown and Enemy Within and this takes the ideas that those started, and expands on them exponentially. The game is a bit harder than its precursor, but there are a ton of more and different items you can use, techs to research, and paths for you to take to victory. The graphics look fantastic and the new story has me completely engaged. The only con I've noticed is that load times can be a bit long, but they aren't too bad. I can live with longer load times since you get better graphics, larger and more varied maps, and all new enemies to deal with.

Better in every way than XCOM 1!

This sequel does something a little different than XCOM 1. It keeps the wonderful turn-based strategy, but the environment and story are now set in a world where the Aliens have taken over Earth, and your XCOM unit is a counter-insurgency force trying to take back the planet. The game ups the stakes in that way, and many more to make a challenging and agonizing (in a good way!) choice-filled experience. Be ready to make choices! :)

Really Optimized Clean UI Right Out The Box The Graphics Are Nice But It Has Really Bad Frame Drops (Like The First One) And This Is Playing The Story Offline Story Wise It’s Really Hard Like Some Missions Leave You With No Choice But To Let Someone Die From Your Team So Don’t Get Attached And Some Missions Are TIMED - This Means 10 Enemies To Kill And 6 Civilians To Save In 5 TURNS - It’s Frustrating And Kinda Makes You Dislike The Game A Bit If You’re A Perfectionist Like Me So I Sold It Half Way Through The Story It’s Still Worth A Buy Just Depends On The Person Playing Ultimately If You Don’t Get Attached To Characters And Like A Challenge + Don’t Mind Timed Missions Than I Would Recommend It

    Punishing Difficulty, but still rewarding.

I'll start by saying that this IS a fun game. I really like it. I almost feel ashamed to admit, but even playing on the "Rookie" difficulty, this is still a very challenging game. I put in quite a few hours only to get stuck where I cannot do anything. I don't have enough money to purchase more troops, not enough troops to go on missions and without spoiling anything, I'm out of time. My only option was to restart. But, I now have a better feel for the mechanics of the game. If you like real-time strategy games, and don't mind a challenge, you'll enjoy this game.

If you are a fan of the series as I am then you'll love this turn based strategy game, I never tire of the cut scenes and the weapon research on experimental items is always fun to wait and see what u get. the one down fall is the load times are horrible I have the 1 TB COD edition XBOX and it's very slow some are even laggy but overall game play is awsome, I turned off the auto save feature and just saved games myself as it was a bit confusing at first over all fun enjoyable game

I am nearly done with campaign and starting to stretch out the endgame just to get a few more missions with my characters. At the beginning missions are rightfully one-sided and you should be okay with losing a few rookies during your first play through. Even fully upgraded, you can still lose a soldier or two during the endgame if you get careless with positioning. The story is.... there... at times it can be cheesy SciFi but most just used to justify missions and objectives. The gameplay more than makes up for the weak story line. I love the latest addition of setting up pathways before submitting moves and the icons telling you which enemies will be within shooting range before you commit to the move. The DLC is a mixed bag. I didn't even notice the configuration options from the pre-order pack. Anarchy's Children adds out of place customization options. Shen's Gift is the best of the bunch as it adds a challenging mission, with some great dialog, and a new soldier type. Alien Hunters has such bad reviews and descriptions that I avoided it. Now that I have some experience with the gameplay, I might download Alien Hunters for the added challenge but wish the DLC was all like Shen's Gift.

XCOM is a difficult game that is a turn based strategy game. It has a high learning curve, but it will surely push your abilities to the limits if you find current day games to be too simple and easy. Permanent death of squad members, possibility of losing equipment, and a doomsday countdown ensure there is little time to rest in XCOM 2.

I have been a fan since Microprose introduced "the Enemy Unknown" back in the 1990's, and I own all the console versions of the series; as a fan, I am in heaven, playing six to eight hours a day, hating to have to go to bed/work, which is disrupting my gaming time. Excellent blend of storyline and strategy....top of the class!

This is one of the hardest games I've ever played. But I stuck with it, and it turned out to be massively rewarding. I went from mainly a first person shooter player to someone who is yearning for more turn-based strategy games like this one. I'm very much looking forward to the expansion pack.

I am a huge fan of the original XCom game and this version takes you back to the same turn based strategy game. I think thy might have been aggressive with the difficulty settings, so save often and don't get discouraged. When you learn the strategy and take advantage of the team's abilities/gear, the game gets a lot better.

I love the turn based strategy style. This game is fun and exhilarating as you weigh the percentages and score a love probability clutch shot to save a squadmate. It is similar to the first game but slightly better in every way. Get this game if you liked the first one!!!

If you are a fan of the XCOM franchise then this game will not disappoint. The gameplay is just like the rest of the series, turn based style. This game is a lot harder than the others. Save often and expect to lose soldiers as you take the fight to the ADVENT

I was a big fan of XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Enemy Within, the title before this, and Firaxis did a fantastic job with the sequel. It keeps the gameplay themes of the first, while injecting plenty of fresh concepts into the formula. The story is a bit unclear as to how the aliens retained any power after the ending events of the first game, but the gameplay feels like a flawless transition from the first to the second. If you enjoy tactical, turn-based strategy games, I highly recommend this title. XCOM was a legendary strategy franchise with its origins, and the new series by Firaxis is still phenomenal. I only have the base game currently, but the expansions look fantastic, and I can't wait to finish my first run, download those, and do it all again.

Great sequel to the first xcom game. A fun turn based strategy where you go on missions, level up your soldiers, and unlock class skills. It is up to you to decide the fate of your world, commander.

XCOM2 is a great sequel to the original XCOM game. Enhanced graphics and options makes XCOM2 a must-buy for the strategy gamer. Good story line and customization options for your characters.

Bought the game used, and you couldnt even tell! The graphics are amazing and the gameplay is much more intense than the original(due to the many player timed events).
