Great Strategy Game

If you enjoy strategy games then you'll definitely enjoy this one. Its really fun and will definitely make you think. For those that haven't ever played this before its plays similar to games like Fire Emblem or Halo Wars. Its top down view and you control a squad across a map to take down aliens and complete missions. The only annoying thing is that many missions are time based and your ability to hit an enemy is based on a percentage. This means you could be in front of an enemy and have a 99% chance to hit the foe and still miss. Otherwise its a great game.

Probably my game of the year thus far. An improvement on Enemy Unknown which was itself a fantastic game. Upgraded graphics, story, enemies, options, missions and gameplay make this an incredible game. Just a note, it is a bit more difficult than Enemy Unknown.

I normally don't recommend games to my friends because everyone has a type of game they like to play, like RPG, action, FPS etc. This game is a strategy game but with lots of other elements in the game as well. You build your base and manage a team. You choose missions you want to do and you level up your guys. There is a little bit of everything in this game kind of like something for everyone. I highly recommend giving this game a try. Might want to try Xcom: enemy unknown first but you don't have to...to enjoy this game, just helps to add to the story. I do however recommend you set this game to the easiest level and if you still have problems there are a few cheat codes to help you out. Trust me even really hard core gamers have problems with this game because it can get hard at times. Look up scores on this game it is highly rated almost every where.

You don't have to play the first xcom game but it does help you understand the story if you do play the first one. If you look at the scores for the first game the second game Imo is even better. That isn't to say it doesn't have it's down falls. It does have slow load times the more you save games and the farther you get into the game. It is how they wrote the software so it's not a glitch it's just bad code and they can't rewrite the whole game just to fix it. So besides that it's one of the hardest and most fun strategy games I have ever played. If you like alien stories and turn base strategy games like final fantasy tactics but with realistic graphics then you will love this game. Also when one of your troops die that's it just like real life. They get wounded and die so be careful and have a blast.

X-Com 2 builds upon an award winning series that first launched on the PC with X-Com. From beautiful graphics to a story line that captures you within the first minute, this game provides hours of game play enjoyment. The turn based component of the game provides a great deal of strategic thinking. The ability to customize every component of your base as well as soldiers provides multiple ways of tackling this game. I recommend going up in difficulty as you become familiar with the game.

As a fan of XCOM Enemy Unknown, I jumped on a "deal of the day" Best Buy ran for this particular game. For a strategy game, most people would expect this to be ideal for PC only. However this game plays equally well on consoles too. Given the fact that the game's publisher has more content coming for the game, if you're waiting for a "complete version" of XCOM 2, it's probably best to wait it out. However there is nothing wrong playing this copy of the game as is...

A great turn based strategy that will punish you for not planning ahead, and a realistic sense of risk/reward as every risk can get a character permanently killed

THIS IS A REALLY FUN STRATEGY GAME! SUPERIOR IN EVERY WAY TO THE ORIGINAL XCOM, (WHICH I ALSO LOVE!), NOT JUST AS A SEQUEL, BUT AS A STAND ALONE GAME. VERY CHALLENGING, BUT WORTH THE EFFORT. THE GRAPHICS ARE FANTASTIC!
THE ONLY THING I DIDN'T LIKE WAS THE LOADING TIMES AND SOME ISSUES WITH THE FIRAXIS ENGINE.
ALL IN ALL, A GREAT GAME THAT HOLDS UP TO ANY SCRUTINY!!
LOVE IT!!

If you like SRPGs this game is your dream. So much depth, excellent game play amazing strategy and great re play value. However, there are some serious bugs in this game that I don't see being addressed. At first they were minor, as the game goes on they become serious, game breaking. That is why one star got knocked down. This is one of the best SRPGs made period, though. Really love this game.

I sunk about 100hrs into this game. Its a fantastic installment in the series. They built upon everything that made the first one so great. Only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the long loading times. Hopefully they fix it in the future for new players. I suffered through it until I beat it. Some loading times lasted well over 10 minutes.

I've enjoyed this game quite a lot and believes plenty of depth for strategy game fans. I really enjoy the character customization. It is perfect to fall in love with your characters only to watch them perish from alien blasts. The game is quite hard, but satisfying when you succeed.

Another brilliant X-Com game with new gameplay features that bring a lot to the series. I love the new story concept (no spoilers here) and it brings more purpose to storyline. There's also some new combat features that really add to the stress and excitement that is X-Com.

The gameplay is pretty much the same as the first. Move the players into cover, use overwatch, flank enemies etc. It has really long load times and the game kind of freezes for a second or two in between player and enemy moves. Other than that it's great.

I'm a huge fan of the Xcom games. Xcom 2 does not disappoint. If you played the previous games, this is more pf the same. Most of the changes are great, there's a little more depth to the classes and you have a little, albeit very little, pull in what classes to make new recruits.
My main complaint that keeps it from 5 stars is this: I was very psyched to hear they would have character creation including choosing your class this go round. That was a bit of a let down though as when creating your character you choose looks, mood, class, etc., but when the you find your recruit the only thing guaranteed to be what you made it is the looks. The class and mood are still completely random. So what's the point? Not much.
Once you learn to accept your fate in that regard though, and just get to the game itself, it is worth it. Great story and fun gameplay.

If you love strategy games, this is a must buy. The game is on the more difficult side mainly because any character death is permanent. It is also very well adapted for console, held back slightly due to technical issues.

not for everyone. at first it might seem kind of boring... but you have to actually understand what's going on. the game has depth to it too... the customize/create a character is pretty awesome... you can edit EVERY character in the game. if you don't have patience ... this might not be for you.
this is not call of duty. it's almost like playing a board game that is a video game... if that makes any kind of sense

The game tells a decent story and plays well. There wasn't anything that stood out to me after completing the game. It's worth a play through even though it is an average game with low replay-ability.

I love the Xcom series as I could just keep on playing as long as I liked before taking on the final battle. The new Xcom2 seems a little more perilous and there seems to be an overarching objective that must be met by a specific time.
Overall graphics and game play are excellent. If you played Xcom before it will be mostly familiar enough for you to take off and play. Lots of new toys and soldier classifications to experiment with. Feels much more constrained on resources even on the easiest levels. After one of the bigger campaigns (30+ min) it crashed right as I was evacuating my troops, but they should get that patched soon hopefully. :)
