Runs Well, Has Some Temperature Issues

I purchased this card to go in my first PC build. While I am impressed with the performance, it has some heating issues. During my first week of use, I noticed that the card was running hot, around 82 °C when playing intense games. However, I figured it was okay since the card seemed to run perfectly fine at this temperature. After about a month of use, the card died in the middle of playing a game, and my computer wouldn't boot up. I took out the card, and my computer booted up fine (albeit any video input due to me not knowing how to turn on integrated graphics). I sent the card in and have received a replacement since. I am not sure if the heat issue caused my card to short out, but I am definitely being more cautious with the replacement. I have yet to play any intense games, but at idle the card stays at around 37 °C and gets up to around 65°C when playing Minecraft with shaders. Hopefully, I don't have the same issue again, and the heat doesn't become so much of a problem that I have to change some settings to cool it down.

Card runs most games well, even the triple a BR maps and such. But, the drivers and issues that come with this card make me second guess my purchase. I can get 90% of the games I play to run smoothly and not crash, but that 10% of games really frustrates me, maybe I'm hoping for too much. So if you're looking for a budget card, this will do it for you, but I am sure something else is better.

I purchased this card to replace my aging 290 and was surprised by the marginal performance improvement. This card is maybe 17% faster than a card five years older at 1440P, the difference is even smaller at 4K. Again not a bad card but I expected more given how old the 290 is compared to the 590. Lastly the card is loud, my triple fan 290 is extremely quiet, but this thing is one of the loudest cards I've heard since my reference 6970.

I'm not a gamer, so I haven't really seen the full power of this card in my home-made system. I can't speak to its technical specifications for those purposes. It works very smoothly with one or two 4K screens (it has a LOT of ports) and doesn't require an awful lot of energy. But I suspect that the Intel UHD graphics included with my i7 would do just fine with the quotidian tasks for which I use this computer. AMD updates the driver every few weeks—which is nice in some respects and annoying in others. At least they pay attention to their customers post-sale. However...every few months it seems I have to go back to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and reinstall AMD software all over again because the driver suddenly doesn't work at all. I don't like that. Maybe gamers feel like that's a good use of their time...I don't. TL;DR: I haven't become a gamer since I bought this, and so every time I look at it taking up space I feel guilty for spending so darn much on something I don't use for all its worth.
